I came here just for the hotpot one evening and thought that it was pretty solid. The inside of the restaurant is unexpectedly HUGE and can accommodate big parties (I'm talking 10+ at a table). On top of it, I love how big their tables are, so that you can order lots of food for your hot pot and still be comfortable. Service is pretty fast. This spot is an AYCE spot, and their menu is very diverse. When I came, I only tried their hotpot so I can't say much about their BBQ, but it was good! Their meat and veggie quality was pretty solid, and their sauce bar was big. Genuinely loved how many options they had on their menu, and the ambiance was nice. Would love to come back to try their AYCE hotpot and BBQ combo!

Pricing & Quality:A bit on the pricey side for an AYCE hotpot, considering the quality, but still a decent experience overall.Service & Atmosphere:Service was very nice and friendly! The space is clean and bright, especially on the upper floor, making for a comfortable dining experience.Menu & Selection:The menu includes pictures, which is helpful, but I wish there were a wider selection of meats--sliced pork belly would be a great addition.Group Dining:The large tables make it a great spot for groups, and overall, it's a solid place for a hot pot meal.

Pros:1. Conveniently located by the B/D/F/M and few blocks away from the N/Q/R/W/6 trains. 2. Huge variety of food options including seafood, veggies, and meat slices like most hot pot spots.3. Huge cuts of beef and lamb slices.4. Love the stylish ambiance of Chinese culture and cute murals on the wall.5. An organized DIY sauce bar by the kitchen area, and there's one on each floor (upstairs & downstairs).6. Pretty clean restroom and clean floor.7. Love the sweet soup dessert of coconut milk-based sago w/ sweet potatoes & taros next to the sauce bar. Scooped myself two bowls filled to the brim. Probably could've eaten that for days after a huge meal.- Free ice cream (vanilla/chocolate) is served upon request.8. Huge & spacious both upstairs & downstairs although the upstairs is way more airy than downstairs (stuffy).9. Good to accommodate large groups of people.Cons:1. Average service from staff...not rude but not nice either. 2. Might need to bring someone who speaks Chinese with you in your group; staff speaks and/understands minimal English. 3. Price range tends to be on the more expensive side especially during dinner time. 4. Staff only came around to check on us once to refill our water. That's it. None of us in our party of 7 had ever gotten our broth refilled...not even once. Maybe we're supposed to ask but epic fail on that. 5. Staff didn't provide us a plastic bag to put our jackets in...again maybe we're supposed to ask.6. For the grilled meat/BBQ, there're more bones than meat as ratio. Beef = more on the chewy side. Had to tear it with my fingers instead. Pork chop is more tender.7. Staff didn't bring a clean set of plates during the meal. Also, they didn't clear the table when my friend had her birthday cake out compared to how I would see from other tables.8. Staff didn't provide huge stack of napkins on the table.9. The Chinese Herbal Soup Base was really salty for some reason even tho I'd expected it to be more on the mild side. Conclusion: Hometown Hotpot & BBQ can be a hit or miss (3.5 stars) in my opinion.

Have been here many times with friends and always have a nice time. It's especially great for big groups since they have big tables. You have the option of AYCE bbq, hot pot, or both. There are a wide variety of broths to pick from and I love trying all the different sauces from the sauce bar. The meat and veggies always feel fresh. They don't take reservations but it's usually easy to get seated if you come early in the evening. They do try to rush you since there's usually a lot of people waiting.

Meh. Cheap for AYCE, but you get what you pay for. Felt that the quality of the meat and soups was certainly lower than higher end places, but not bad for the price. My biggest gripe was with the service. It seemed like we would order things, then they would constantly leave out items we had asked for. It was difficult to flag someone down to come to our table. Separately, my pot had an issue where it started turning off on its own, and I constantly had to turn it back on, which was annoying.

We came in with around a 20 people group and they were amazing in accommodating us! Of course we had a reservation in advance and they were super nice about it. Ordering extra broth would cost each of us $4 since it's individual style so we all went with one base. I definitely prefer the Chinese herbal so I got that one. We ordered a few platters of meat and a vegetable one so it's easier for us to pick at and some noodles, dumplings and seafood - mussels, shrimp and fish paste. The fish paste I thought was very tasty and mussels had some grain to them but the shrimp was very juicy and large. The dumplings were pork and very good. I think the meat itself (beef and lamb) were regular standard hot pot meat but for unlimited it was pretty good. Lamb was a lot more drier and tougher than the beef. I got the ginger crush cocktail and it taste like it barely had any alcohol in it so I would suggest getting soju or something else or even just their other drinks, many of us got the lychee drink. Nearing the end we got the dessert on the side which was crushed red bean paste milky dessert and a lot of us enjoyed it even getting 3 bowls. Ice cream is served upon request- and it's free! Their flavors are vanilla and chocolate and we got a few of them and it's pretty basic but it's a great flavor cleanser after a long hot pot meal. Everything was pretty good and there's even an awning to wait for your uber outside since it gets pretty steamy inside. We didn't get charged for leftovers which was very kind of them but we also had a large group. Overall it was a really nice meal and can't wait to go back again!

Had to change my reservation a few times in less than 24hrs. They were very accomodating, giving it was a Friday night. The place is very spacious, sauce station was clean. Staff was very attentive even when it got busy. We all opt'd for hotpot, will try bbq next time. Lots on the menu to choose from. Great for large parties. Wish they had more dessert options to choose from.

Came here with a large group of 13 people. We came on a Monday afternoon and had no issues being seated right away. It's a big spot where they have large tables for big groups downstairs. Since this is in Chinatown, commute was easy as there are multiple train lines near by. Half the party had never had hotpot before. The nice thing about this place was the individual bowls so everyone felt comfortable dipping things into their own bowl versus a communal or for the table- especially those who hadn't experienced hotpot before. They have a decent selection of meats, veg, noodles, etc. Everyone had a great time and experience. Service was great, the food constantly was flowing and topped off. At one point we stopped ordering, the servers just kept refilling everything that was depleted till we asked them to stop. That usually does not happen at hotpot.

Top tier. Ambience is fine. It's clean, modern and well lit. Service is excellent. Responsive and friendly. It clears the low bar for Chinatown and is at least par generally. Food. It's choose your own adventure here. Soup, sauces, meats, veggies and carbs. If you can't put together a meal to your liking, it's on you. They have more esoteric choices (tripe, blood cake, etc) along with accessible crowd pleasers (black pepper beef, pork belly, fatty beef). They had a discount for the hotpot plus bbq so I tried their bbq for the first time. More than acceptable. As I said above, the black pepper beef and pork belly were huge hits. All in, 5 stars. Come with a crowd, feast and enjoy!
