Hibiscus Restaurant & Bar

Went here on a Friday night and to get to the sit-down area you do have to walk through the bar which was a bit crowded, but no one bothers you. They may stare but that's Queens haha.On to the main reason we went: to eat before the clurb. I've never ate in this restaurant only had their takeout but the waitress came by right away, took our order and the food came out pretty quickly too. It was VERY good and fresh, didn't upset any of our stomachs either even after eating with peppa sauce. I would eat here again if I am in the area.

Had a craving for some authentic Guyanese food, especially some Chicken Fried Rice GT style. Arrived as the first customer of the day after running some errands in the morning and working up an appetite!Started off with an order of the cow heel soup. Let me just say the soup was one of the best, if not THE best I've ever had. I'd give the soup 10/10. Ordered some shark and chips, also really good. Shark was well seasoned and crispy but tender. Very tasty. Some pholourie was next, which were also really good. The mango sour was good but it needed something more, as it didn't pack a lot of flavor. Pholourie was a 9/10, sour was 3/10. Onto the main dish, and this place normally is my favorite Chicken Fried drive outside of Guyana itself. This time it was good but not great. The rice was well seasoned but perhaps even a bit too much in terms of the soy sauce. The chicken was also good, but could've used a little more seasoning and it wasn't as tender as it's been in the past. Normally the Chicken Fried Rice is 8/10 or better. This time it was about 6/10. Again largely based on what I know they are normally capable of. The sorrel was VERY good. So good that I simply stuck with that vs getting a drink. It was sweet but had a little spicy kick to it. Very fresh. From an ambiance standpoint, it was early. But the place was spotless, well kept and I'm sure if I'd come a couple hours later... would've been rockin with some good tunes and people.

This place is disgusting. First of all, food was disappointing and had zero flavor.. So dissatisfied. Second of all the customer service and management is absolutely unhelpful and neglecting, our server ignored us half the time and took AN HOUR getting the check. Like what? Plus, never asked us for help or anything. This restaurant should learn the importance of management and appearance and attitude towards costumers.

I wish I could give this place more than 2 stars.. I placed an order online for pickup and when I went home I received the wrong items, instead of 2x chow mein and 1x fried rice I received 3x chow mein, I called the store and was NOT accommodated at all. No offer to change my food, a discount, a refund absolutely nothing. Not even "We are sorry for this mistake." This is just simply bad customer service. Wouldn't recommend going to an establishment that just takes your money and does not care if you're satisfied or not. The ONLY reason they received 2 stars is for the ambiance. The inside of the restaurant is clean, and very spacious, especially for a large group. Hopefully for future customers they can be accommodating and willing to fix their mistakes and/system so that they can properly read what's ordered.

I ordered fried rice and cream soda, the food was pretty mediocre and average. Rice could've been better same with the chow mein that I ate. Overall pretty decent nothing bad with it could be better though. Also had to pay for parking and food came a little slow so the service was also average because the people are nice and check up on you every once in a while but the food did come late making me pay more for parking. Bathroom is small but alright. The place itself is also average, it doesn't smell bad and the place is pretty clean. Overall pretty average, compares to cabana and prices honestly should be lower. Also tipped themselves 18% and charged for a group of 8 which is apparently a large group even though they're a restaurant. Definitely go to cabana instead of this place it's like cabana but food is a little worse and they're overpriced and charge you a 18% tip automatically.

The food is delicious, however there was no drink menu so it was kind of suggestions as to what you wanted with given ingredients. Otherwise, it's a nice island spot.

Hit Or miss, and mostly miss. Doesn't taste like Guyanese chinese at all. Chicken was undercooked and way too much oil on the rice.

My husband and I came here for dinner before our long weekend getaway. Now I love me some oxtail and that is what I ordered. When the order came out the oxtail did not taste good and had a weird smell to it like they took gravy from goat curry and mixed it in with the oxtail. The peas and rice was terrible and had a burnt taste to it. I used to love coming here for dinner but now have to look for another Caribbean restaurant.

Yesterday I had Chicken fried rice it was delicious - I had mines with no egg, ginger and spicy (extra points for the ginger - delicious). Rice was a bit oily though.I ordered again - chicken broccoli with white rice should've ordered Chinese instead (chicken was almost raw and flavorless, rice was so basic - broccoli was the only thing that got me through the meal) Note to self only order chicken fried rice from here, stick to Chinese if you want chicken broccoli.

Great food. Although I did a take out order, it was ready pretty quickly. Hostess was nice and answered all of my questions. Next visit, I may dine in and then go over to visit the bar. It was clean and well kept.
