Thank you Yesenia for keeping me entertained on a rainy day while you made my delicious oyster po'boy! It's been some time since I've had oysters in NYC that were plump, fresh and delicious. My server and cook was a special lady that made my day a little better while I ordered my sandwich to-go. The bus ride home was hellish and I was over the day. But bay-beeee, after heating up my po'boy, I felt the sunshine. Well- seasoned, fresh, plump, cooked to perfection oysters were on the softest roll with all the bells and whistles and a really flavorful aioli. Will definitely return when my oyster jones kicks in again!

I believe I ordered with the owner who was honestly lovely, she reminded me of straight to the point caring auntie or mom. I went ahead and got a side ofCollard greens and a fish wrap, the fish wrap is honestly the most affordable meal on the menu, like other reviews I did notice I was charged a dollar more than what was advertised on the menu, the food came out concerningly fast although typically sides are premade usually fried fish is freshly fried, she will also ask you spicy or original the only difference is that they put siracha on the spicy I thought this was a little strange because Sriracha isn't soul food the wrap also had salsa which was again weird because this is supposed to be a soul food stand? I would expect for spicy that would mean it has a spicy batter that it's fried in + traditionalSouthern hot sauce. Upon receiving unfortunately I could smell the fishiness of the fish which means it wasn't fresh + the fish was chewy and dried out in some spots like it's been reheated or sitting out in a warmer for hours, the collards needed some salt, hot sauce and a little bit of vinegar to dress it up otherwise it was a bit bland/needed more flavor. I would love for this stand to do well but for the price point it's a little disappointing to receive fish that isn't fresh + pre-cooked and greens that needed more flavor. Also don't know how a wrap with salsa and Sriracha represents soul food. If this stand charged typical soul food prices and cooked with soul food flavors I think it would be a hit!

Decided to swing back to the Dekalb Market Hall and head over to Harlem Seafood Soul vendor and try out the food itself, is prolly hit or miss. The guy ahead of me ordered a 3 fish combo and wasn't too satisfied with his fish. My Po'Boy on the other hand was tasty, Mac and Cheese was pretty decent and the lemonade Iced Tea quenched my thirst well. I just don't think it warrants the $28 price tag though. I've ordered slightly more from places like Shake Shack for slightly less. I get it, it's a vendor in Brooklyn so it's gonna run some cash but I believe my order would've been more satisfactory if it were closer to $20 but that's just me. Other than that, the shrimp and sides are pretty good. I'd be wary of the fish though.

Dekalb Market Hall was already my religion, but thanks to Chef Tami for a one-of-a-kind experience on my first Harlem Seafood Soul visit. The impressive garlic-laden shrimp with grits makes you wonder why everyone else seems to have smaller crustaceans. The collard greens with smoked turkey was a knockout and I'd certainly sign up for any meat-focused offerings even if fried seafood is front and center. The service was outstanding. Chef Tami was friendly and welcoming, and it was great discussing her history and food overall.

If I could give -10 stars I would. Totally misleading menu. Buttermilk fried chicken didn't come butter milked at all. The Mac and cheese was nothing but grease. The grits omg don't even get me started, flavorless and full of oil. Collard greens tasted like they were right out the can. Total waste of money. So gross we couldn't even finish it. Want some good food? Go to Han dynasty instead. 10's across the boards with that restaurant. Harlem sea food is so disgusting.

This place has the best seafood ever. I travel from Queens to feed my soul. I have had the whiting sandwich the Mac n cheese and the banana pudding. It's what you need when you're craving soul food like me and I am from the south.

They know how to make the fry fish. The fish is not over burnt, it's light, not a a lot of batter like some other places. The Mac and Cheese is slamming and the customer service is good.

If you're looking to enjoy well seasoned food and good service, continue on to Hana Noodles. My siblings and I ordered about 5 different dishes from Hana Noodle and everything was seasoned perfectly and delicious. They also have ample staff and had no trouble answering questions and making adjustments when their supplies no longer accommodated their menu. I cannot say the same for Harlem Seafood Soul. The sole chef and food handler at Harlem Seafood Soul lacks decorum, prefers to belittle her customers, and is unnecessarily and unapologetically rude. For these same reasons, prepare to wait for an extended period of time for your meal which was mediocre at best. I decided not to order anything and I walked away while the chef yelled obscenities at me. My brother had already placed his order though and both the grits and whiting Po Boy lacked flavor and seasonings. It is a shame because I like to support culturally owned businesses. But without a level of propriety, the chef may not own her business for long. I wish I didn't have to choose a star to rate this place, but I was forced to choose a minimum of 1 star. If you want subpar food and poor service, Harlem Seafood Soul is for you!

I'm not big on leaving reviews, I'm one where if I really don't care for your services I just won't patronize your business. I have no clue how this establishment received such great reviews. The food is mediocre and the owner needs to take customers service classes. She is EXTREMELY RUDE....Every other restaurant is crowded with customers, but this one, which is void of patrons......go figure....Go where you are appreciated and not tolerated. Nice lil couch though, soft
