I recently had the pleasure of dining at GupShup with some friends and my Aunt. hey were kind enough to accomodate our walk in despite being super busy on a Saturday night. I was super impressed by the quality of the food (as someone notoriously picky about Indian food). The aesthetic of the restaurant is really funky and moody with beautiful decor and a lively ambiance. The menu is modest, but offers a diverse variety of authentic Indian dishes. We ordered family style and got the paneer and pineapple tikka, curried chickpeas, amritsari chole tikka, goat dum biryani, and a hefty side of the garlic naan. While everything was super yummy my absolute FAVORITE was the amritsari chole tikka.I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a taste of authentic Indian cuisine in NYC. I am looking forward to going back! I will definitely plan on a reservation next time.

This restaurant offers a modern twist on traditional Indian Cuisine, blending authentic flavors with contemporary culinary techniques. I ordered butter chicken wings, paneer cheese rolls, paneer masala. Everything was delicious and innovative. Also the restaurant boasts an eclectic, vibrant interior, featuring bright colored decor that creates a lively dinning experience Overall notable destination for those seeking a modern interpretation of traditional Indian flavors in NYC

We popped in for a quick dinner. It seemed like many folks made reservations, so I'd highly suggest that. We cat upstairs and had great service! Everything we had was tasty. We got a lot of dishes but I especially enjoyed these!-Butter Garlic Crab- crab drowned in a lot of butter and garlic. It's tasty -Gupshup Fried Chicken- spicy fried chicken in honey; can't go wrong with thisCan't wait to go back soon.

Really solid Indian spot in Gramercy with a fun unpretentious vibe. Not new but going strong after 6 years. We arrived early to grab a cocktail at the bar. The bartender was awesome crafting really wonderful drinks. I had a tequila based cocktail and hubby had this turmeric cocktail that really stole the show. We shared nearly all the dishes. The prawn appetizer was super tasty. The pineapple and paneer special was also nice thought the grilled pieces of cheese were quite large and the ratio of cheese to pineapple and peppers seemed a bit off. The lamb chops were simply amazing. Even my husband who doesn't eat meat indulged and thought they were a real highlight. We had the mushroom dish which was heavy but really yummy. I had some rice which was basic but I avoid gluten and that is easily done at this Indian place. Of course that means no Naan for me but hubby thought the garlic naan was wonderful. Knowing I am gluten free, they sent over the carrot halwa ice cream and this was really special. I love frozen desserts and the flavors in this ice cream were really special. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to come back.

A very satisfying meal here last night. We ordered guacamole with crispy okra, chicken tikka and shrimp for starters. Loved all aspects of the dish- taste, presentation, serving size. For our mains we ordered tawa seared branzino and white rice. The sauce that came along branzino was absolutely divine and we devoured every bite. The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. Service was excellent, the meals arrived quick and empty plates were cleared promptly. The ambiance is very casual, music was lively and it was perfect for a quick dinner. Considering my allergies i could only try the guacamole with okra and branzino. I wish they had more dairy free and gluten free options on the menu. No dessert options for anyone with gluten and dairy allergies.

Gupshup was a great place to enjoy Sunday brunch. The Bollywood music was entertaining and helped set the vibes. The paneer cheese rolls had a delicious mango chili chutney which added to the flavor. It was sweet but had a fun kick to it. The tandoori cauliflower had a nice coat of masala which added a tangy and spicy flavor to it. The egg vada pav was tasty but maybe next time I would ask for it to be a bit spicier. The cocktails were delicious. If you like paan and bourbon I would highly recommend their paan cocktail. The other butterfly tea infused cocktail was gin based and delicious. I'd love to try their other drinks next time I visit!

At first entrance the hostesses was a bit rude and short. Not the best hospitality here. The server was ok. However the food was great! I got the omelette and paratha from the brunch menu and it was very tasty. There were some veggies and other things in the omelette and the paratha was buttery and flakey. Their brunch menu looks better than their normal menu. I was going to get the masala fries if the omelette didn't fill me up but the omelette is pretty hefty. My wife got the dosa and she said it was really good! She even wanted to come back the next day. We got the avocado raita on the side. But it came with a ton of pomegranate on top which we had to scoop aside. We also got a side of rice and the side portion of it was big. It's in a fun neighborhood right by Union Square. The atmosphere inside was festive and fun. There were a lot of Indians eating there too which was a good sign that the food is kinda authentic.

Everything from my prior review holds true. This is a classy, trendy restaurant in a fancy part of Manhattan. But they remain down to earth and accessible. This time I showed up in actual business casual, but was treated as equally important as any other person. And this time, since it was a Monday, I did have a reservation.I showed up at 5:30 for a 5:45 reservation. Restaurant opens at 5 PM. I was the first person on site. Again, the hostess was stylish, cool, and collected. I was seated immediately.Once seated, I was immediately greeted by a couple of different people, including my server, Susie/Suzie. She was attentive, on-top-of-it, and she gave great recommendations.I've been here before and had a lot of great dishes and drinks . . . so she had her work cut out for her. This time, I had to go with a previous favorite--the moist, fall apart, exquisitely seasoned salmon. I adored the cauliflower last time, but in place of that, I asked Susie/Suzie to choose a dish for me. She hit it out of the park with the "amritsari chole tikki," an amazing amalgam of crispy potato fritters (similar to potato paneer cakes, not quite aloo pakora), curried chickpea, green apple, and tamarind. A savory, rich, almost chili like concoction, topped with crisp freshness. I finally had the Himalayan morels ($36). Wild mushrooms and chives. Again, rich, savory, decedent. But this time, as opposed to the Achari chicken I had last time, is vegan.I, again, had several cocktails with complex, deep flavors. None too heavy, none too sweet, too sugary, or too filling. As previously stated, Gupshup is a classy, elevated, yet accommodating spot, with spicy, saucy, tasty dishes. So many flavors--pickles, green apple, mustard, onion, wasabi, jackfruit, tamarind, chili honey, mango. While also honoring staples like garlic naan (smelled heavenly at the next table), biryani with saffron, various forms of goat, various chutneys, and more . . .

This is a great Indian restaurant with beautiful decor and an inviting atmosphere. We had a reservation for Saturday evening, and the place was lively and bustling. For appetizers, we shared the AMRITSARI CHOLE TIKKI and the sizzler platter which included grilled lamb chops, mutton seekh kebab, tiger prawns, salmon tikka, and chicken tikka - everything was flavorful and perfectly cooked. For the main course, we enjoyed the ACHARI CHICKEN and BUTTER CHICKEN with garlic naan. Every dish was delicious, but the achari chicken stood out as my personal favorite. The service was exceptional, with the chef even taking the time to visit our table and ensure everything was to our liking. It was a fantastic experience overall, and I look forward to returning to try more of their menu. Highly recommend it!

We've had excellent meals on both of our visits to GupShup. Ask to sit upstairs, we loved our cute two top along the wall. Prawns are a must, and maybe the best thing we had. Chicken tikka was also very good. Absolutely loved the lamb chops with mint chutney. Service was on point-refilling carafes of water, bringing fresh plates and perfectly pacing as not to crowd the tables. Great meal and experience. Thanks also for accommodating the early birds just a bit earlier for our reservation.
