GT Kingston Restaurant & Bar

I happened upon this restaurant a week ago and deliberately went back yesterday. I went back with a few friends to introduce them to some of the best Guyanese food that I have had in a while. The food quality was great. The temperature was perfect. The taste was amazing. Food was cooked to perfection. Extremely large portions. I will be back again BTW they have karaoke on Monday and Wednesday nights, they also have a one man ban on Thursday nights. I was able to experience both a Wednesday and Thursday night I enjoyed myself both times. Go check them out!

The service here is awful than before. Use to come here a lot 5 years ago and they always have no personality. Like woman is a problem to these GT workers. I will not return. Use to love the soups here. Plantain too soft didn't fry well, rice is extremely soft and whatever these bugs are in all 3 plates of rice. The curry goat is spicy and tasty but tuff. We ordered fried chicken night before and it tasted like Bbq chicken. None vaping sign in the restaurant but ppl were vaping behind us. The gal only brought 1 menu for 3 of us. They acting like they can't be bothered. This is not the only place to go. Lots of Guyanese hangout here more, maybe that's why it's still in business. The music is overly loud.

Doing my daily walk while airing out some Foster care agency drama over the phone with a friend and realized I needed to have a drink to chill out... This Jamaican spot happens to be in my sisters neighborhood. South ozone Park, Queens. Seems like a pretty cool hole in the wall type place. Good music which is very loud... Huge screen where I can watch the news while waiting for my food... The drink was decent. A bit too sweet for me so she was nice enough to add a sparkling seltzer to it. I ordered curry chicken and peas and rice, I got spicy curry chicken (incredibly small portion) with rice and beans, with Side salad...The steam cabbage I had requested turned out to be a whole side dish for nine dollars. ‍. All in all not a bad place when your favorite place is closed.

Spent too much money for the food we got. We got 2 of the grilled chickens which came with the rice and peas salad and plantains , but with extra chicken. That food tasted like whoever cooked it dropped the whole container of black pepper on my food. Even my salad had black pepper, I don't think I ever in my life ate a spicy salad. I don't understand this at all. I wish I would have checked and at least tasted this before leaving the building. And I even took an Uber here and back to my hotel, money wasted there too. We were so hungry when we got back to our hotel that we tried to force ourselves to eat some of this food, we ended up throwing it away though, it was just too much damn pepper.

Last night, after smoking a fat ass blunt, I order a red peas soup, grilled white snapper w/ salad, fried plantains, and rice & peas. TWO HOURS LATER, what I received was a beef red pea soup (I don't eat beef), stew fish (scrambled like eggs) and THATS IT. No rice and peas, no salad, no plantains. Whaaaaat??? Why would you do this to someone??? On a hungry ass Friday night? So I called right... cause I'm thinking they'll just send me all the things they missed. I was willing to wait too (another two hours). I tell the young lady what happened. She puts me on hold to check the order. The call conveniently drops. Okay cool. I call back. She tells me that there was a mistake with my order. The lady forgot to pack all my sides. Silence... Attempting to find a solution for them, I patiently ask if someone can bring my sides. Apparently they didn't have a driver at the time but said they would call me back in a few. No call back. No salad. No fried plantains. No rice and peas. Just me and my scrambled stew fish on a Friday night. VEX!

They crowd is cool. DJ usually plays decent music you can vibe to. They could stand to update their wine bottle prices. Bottom of the barrel options are too high. I would kinda recommend on Friday and Saturday late night when you want the rub-a-dub type scene.

I'm sorry to say this but I had a terrible experience... I ordered food for the first time from this location, my order was steamed red snapper with rice and peas, grilled salmon with chow mein and coconut shrimp... the Snapper was spoiled and made me sick, I threw up everything, the rest of the food didn't have any flavor! Everything looked good and I just wanted to enjoy my food but this was so disappointing for me.

Friday nights!! The vibe and drinks music was nice. And if you looking for a sugar daddy it's plenty in there

Great portion of oxtail especially for the price! Definitely recommend this place and will be ordering again. The waitress was also super sweet when I went to pick up.
