Honest review of Gramercy Tavern: I was happy to be notified by Michelin starred restaurant Gramercy Tavern! I had heard that the food is a must but an absolute must is the seasonal hot chocolate! Both the exterior and interior are majestic, the hostess at the door was very courteous and took me to my table where I was greeted by my waitress Anastasia. I started my meal with the hot chocolate of course and the Lobster salad with copious amounts of citrusy lobster, fresh broccolini, seasonal Meyer lemon, earthy flavored radish and an avocado dressing that definitely made you excited for the next course! My waitress then brought out a fresh sweet potato bread roll that I enjoyed while waiting for my main course the Hanger steak cooked rare to medium rare with a tender center with cauliflower, radicchio, and pickled Shallots. The hanger steak was acceptable but not exceptional. It had a flavor that I could not put my finger on but I believe it tasted sweet with a mellow citrus taste. It's very rare that the vegetables outshine the meat but they absolutely did here! The cauliflower had amazing flavor, fresh crisp to it, the radicchio and pickled shallots pairs well together! Now the dessert, Im going to tell you right now....It's a crime against humanity that not every soul on this planet will be able to experience that Meyers lemon cake with candied Kumquats and house made Pistachio ice cream! That flavor profile took my taste bud on a glorious journey to sweet, savory every bite. The smooth pistachio house made Ice cream was the best I've ever had. My overall experience here was great, the highlight of this meal was the hot chocolate, and that Meyers lemon cake...oh and the exceptional service by all the staff but especially Anastasia! If you are in the Gramercy park area this is a great choice to dine.

Had been many, many years since I last visited Gramercy Tavern. The space is more gorgeous than last time, and the service was very good. Unfortunately, I wasn't thrilled with my food. I started with a broccolini salad. While I was excited to eat some greens, I found it uninspiring and somewhat bland. My main course was the pasta. How can you mess up pasta?! The pasta was served with an unsavory beef sauce that had a gritty texture. There's nothing worse than leaving a high-end restaurant hungry, but that's exactly how I felt. Maybe it was because it was a Sunday night? Not sure. I won't be back.

I booked a table at Gramercy Tavern to celebrate my birthday and it was definitely a very memorable experience. I had a table for two on a Wednesday at around 9pm and when we arrived the place was still very full (considering it was a weekday this was very surprising!). The "tavern" is separate from the "dining room", offering an a la carte menu and more casual feel as opposed to the prix fixe tasting menu offered in the latter. The space is very beautiful, has high ceilings, rustic decor, and feels classy and cozy-- perfect for a nice, but lowkey celebration. Our waitress came by very quickly and was really likable! She was pleasant and friendly in a genuine way, very attentive of us without being overbearing. We started off ordering some drinks: my fiancé got a glass of wine while I got an espresso martini. The espresso martini was a little too sweet for my taste but the wine was perfect. For food we shared: - Beets and Carrots: delicious and bright. Perfect combination of sweetness from the beets and perfectly roasted carrots, nuttiness from the pistachios, and creaminess from the burrata. This is hands down one of the best beet apps I have ever ordered. The execution was perfect and the quality of ingredients was top notch. - Broccolini Salad: another very fresh tasting and light dish. The broccolini was perfectly cooked, and the freekeh gave the dish a super nice texture/substance. The thinly sliced almonds added a nice crunch. - Wood-fired Sea Bass: Very nicely cooked sea bass! Perfectly flaky and buttery. It was a little too salty for my taste (perhaps the bacon aioli), but well balanced with the tangy potatoes which helped neutralize the flavors. I was particularly impressed by how well the fish was cooked.- Brick Pressed Chicken: super tender, perfectly cooked and juicy chicken. Tasted like it had some BBQ sauce on top, or at least had a sweet smoky flavor that was reminiscent of BBQ sauce. It came over a bed of very flavorful lentils which made the dish feel really hearty. Overall, pretty good!- Chocolate Chunk Cookie: I had to order this after hearing so much hype about this cookie online. The cookie came out warm and was surprisingly not as sweet as I thought. The dough itself had s lightly spiced flavor that went very well with the rich chocolate chunks. The cookie was buttery, with a gooey inside and a nice crust. It had coarse bits of sea salt on top which brought out the sweetness. The chocolate milk on the side was perfect to balance it out. Would definitely recommend. - Chocolate Pudding Cake: This was a decadent, rich dessert that is perfect for any sweet tooth. It was like a deconstructed lava cake, with a fluffy light chocolate cake paired with thick fudge, topped with creamy vanilla ice cream and topped with caramel popcorn which was honestly just the best addition. This was my favorite dessert of the night. Delicious!- Hummingbird Cake with coconut frosting: I did not intend on having 3 separate desserts, but the staff knew I was celebrating my birthday and brought out a small cake with a candle which I thought was very kind! The cake was a hummingbird cake with pineapple and banana, with a light coconut frosting-- honestly was very reminiscent of a pina colada! Light, and gluten/dairy free. Very perfect way to end the meal. Overall, Gramercy Tavern has a very nice ambiance, with excellent quality food. The mains and apps were all delicious and clearly very well prepared. The seasonal aspect makes it exciting to come here now that you expect to have the freshest ingredients and there is always promise for something new in the next rotation. The desserts were phenomenally executed! There was not a single bad bite... I would really come here exclusively for dessert. The service was top notch, I really did feel cared for during our whole meal. Highly highly recommend this place for a special occasion or if you ever just want to splurge yourself to a nice meal.

Impeccable food and service. Had a special occasion celebration at GT. The tasting menu was outstanding. I especially loved the cabbage that was prepared in a stack like lasagna noodles. Savory and delicious. Who would have ever thought cabbage could be so good. Beautiful setting too!

Gramercy Tavern is definitely a refined establishment that is a classy destination. Over lunch to start, I had the Squash soup which came with Apples, Collard Greens, Shell Beans and the Golden Tilefish as my main dish which came with Royal Red Shrimp, Carrots, and Freekeh. For a mild winter day this was fitting. The portions were decent and the flavors complimented each other. The consistency of the Squash soup was smooth and not too heavy. While the Golden Tilefish had a great presentation it felt more like an appetizer than a full entree. The staff were very attentive and the Dining room setting was very warm and inviting.

Still perfect after all these years. The alchemy of a very classy "tavern" with premium prices and very good classics still works.5 star food: even a burger here is exceptional. These folks have it down to a science on always giving a consistently good dining experience5 star service: like the food, you'll never have bad service here. Servers tend to stay here a long time and be very very competent 4 star ambience: my only minor gripe is the ambience. It fits with the tavern vibe but for fine dining I prefer a little sleeker and less is more decoration wise

Unlike the multicourse tasting dinners I've had in Gramercy Tavern's more formal back dining room, one can order as much (or as little) as desired in their front tavern area. I prefer that freedom, as well as the tavern's laid back atmosphere and lively bar scene.Enjoyed my pretty cranberry daiquiri, a perfect blend of tart and sweet. Duck liver mousse appetizer tasted great spread on included rustic toast points. I took my Yelp friend Gail B's advice and ordered the Tavern Burger, my oh my that was one delicious burger! One might think "how special can a simple cheeseburger be"? Well GT's version, made of house ground chopped beef topped with melty cheddar cheese and thick bacon, was a revelation - tender and juicy to the max. Thanks for the tip Gail! Also loved the duck meat loaf, nicely spiced and resting on fresh fingerling potatoes and veggies; a uniquely delicious dish. Apple cider doughnuts for dessert (served warm) were outrageously good, albeit overpriced at $18 for two small ones.Service by Kiara was friendly and generally prompt, hit a couple of snags but that's to be expected on a crowded Saturday afternoon. Reservations are hard to come by (especially this time of year), but slots do open up online the day of as mercurial diners change their plans last minute. Or try to snag an open bar seat, but the wait can be long.

GET THE HOT CHOCOLATE!! I can't believe it's been 7 years since I've been back to Gramercy! The last time I came I did the prefix menu in their dining room and it was amazing (see my previous review). This time I walked into their Tavern. If you don't have a rez you can put your name on the waitlist with the bartender. They also have a small foyer where you can order drinks from! Now onto the food. Everything here is done with so much care. Highly recommend their seasonal cocktails (Fall Classic was our favorite) as well. Hot chocolate 5/5: perfect amount of sweetness and has a touch of cinnamon on top. Very good and similar price for other hot chocolates around the city. Burger 5/5: I prefer smash burgers but this was fantastic Cookie with malted milk 4/5: really good cookie and a good portion - I was expecting something more with the milk (tasted like bornvita or boost that we had as kids) Biscuits - 5/5 very good I'd totally get this againFlatbread 3/5- the bread was great but the dips were okayFall classic 5/5 - fav cocktail of the night Coffee corrected 4/5 - this was good but a higher price tag!

Lived up to its expectations! We went for restaurant week and were not disappointed. Service was incredible, with many folks taking care of us and ensuring we never needed anything. I loved the ambiance with the beautiful flower and nature arrangements. And of course the food was fantastic. My only complaint was in the broccolini salad, I felt that some broccolini was not adequately washed as I felt both silt as well as something hard that almost broke a tooth. Everything else was incredible. Really appreciate our server, Oliver, for switching out one of the wine pairings when I disliked the moscato. It came to $60 for a three course lunch for restaurant week with an additional $55 wine pairing.
