Amazing dim sum!!We got there right when it opened on a weekday morning, so it wasn't crowded at all, but all the food was fresh. They had so many carts with lots of variety, and we happily tried a decent selection. We really enjoyed the shu mai, shrimp dumplings, and piggy buns. They have lots of tables, and it feels just like a traditional dim sum place.

My husband and I ate here early afternoon on Friday. We loved it. There was some slight miscommunication on our part in terms of getting a drink- hot tea was served immediately but hubby wanted a beer- The food was on the table quick, it was tasty. I wish we would have ordered some spicy sauce but that's next time. Would recommend eating here!

This was our first time having traditional dim sum so we were not at all sure what to expect. We went in the wrong door and got yelled at, so be sure to use the entrance on East Broadway. Enter and you will be directed to the take the elevator to either the 2nd or 3 floor dining room. Once you reach your floor, you are directed where to sit. Tea will be presented at the table. Then carts will be rolled over to the table and you be asked what you want. There is a card at the table that the staff check off for anything you decide to have placed on your table. This is how the bill is tallied. When we asked for some sauces, the cart pusher yelled and said that the waiter would bring that, but no waiter ever approached our table, brought us any kind of sauces, or offered water or other drinks. The cart pusher very angrily gave us a small container of soy sauce after we asked again, muttering something under her breath. She was not happy with us. We later did see a cart with water and sodas, but it never came to our table and we were ready to leave by then. How often the carts make their rounds we could not determine. At first the carts came one after another, but then there was none for a bit. Some of the items served were not hot. Service was fine but quite sterile and unfriendly, although one lovely cart pusher laughed when we interacted with her. That was nice. It was a fun and unique experience and we were glad to get to try many different things. Clean and beautiful restrooms and nicely decorated large dining areas.Overall 3.5 stars.

Perfect place in Manhattan for a traditional dim sum experience. Food abounds in carts wheeled by employees. If you think you'll go hungry, you are extremely mistaken. I love how this place also has a lazy Susan on the table for easy access to each dish. Everything my table had was delicious. I just wish we were able to try it all! One of my best friends brought us here to ask us to be her bridesmaids, and the employees also showed their excitement for us, it was so cute. Looking forward to dining here again soon!

Golden unicorn is what dim sum is all about. Endless carts of dumplings and delicious food! They even have a table side cart with a chef that prepares shu Mai right in front of you! Major points for that! We had a really nice brunch experience. The only negatives for me would be that the carts do not come around as frequently as they should and some of the dumplings were rather cold.

- greeted downstairs and they'll ask how many people in your party- many many floors of dim sum- food arrives fast and waiters are always on standby- food was good but pretty basic Chinese dim sum- really liked the lotus leaf with sticky rice- har gaw- siew mai- classics- liked the custard pig bun. Cute for pictures! But doesn't taste different

I give this place 5 stars because of how amazing the food and ambience is!! I willSay that I did come with two Chinese natives so communication was not an issue. Although I don't know how it would be without translators, I was able to try traditional Cantonese food and loved it!!

Came here for brunch on the weekend and didnt have to wait too long for a table for three. The waiters dont really serve you as it's the traditional carts that get pushed around. We had to ask the manager who was walking around to get us some water lol. The dimsum was good but some dishes were definitely not as hot/fresh. I also speak canto and tried to ask the cart ladies for specific dishes but they would forget or it would take a while. Hit the spot but prob wouldnt come back

My favorite din sum place in Chinatown and the ultimate classic go-to besides Nom Wah Tea Parlor (but they don't have carts). Golden Unicorn has alllllll the carts! Prices have unfortunately gone up a lot the past few years due to inflation but that doesn't stop the loyalists and tourists from coming. The quality is deserving of the price and attention. I love coming here with my Chinese friends as I can't speak a lick of anything beyond English, bad English, and toddler Spanish. Forgive me I don't know many of the correct names in Chinese but my favorites here include the spareribs, the pea shoots, the shrimp "lasagna" noodles, the siu mai, all the dumplings, and the beef broad noodles. The sweet character buns are also adorable, with little piggies and Minions as examples. This restaurant has been featured in many shows and movies so it's also a piece of movie cinema history as well.Service is quick if they have what you want already on the carts, otherwise a special order takes a while. You have been warned.Try and come early (11am or before) on a regular weekend to avoid the insanity in the lobby. On a Lunar New Year weekend, you better get there by 10am latest or you are totally screwed!

I enjoy the food quality and diversity here, and coming here can be a bit of a culture shock, but if you are familiar with dim sum food items, you'll be in heaven here. Knocking off two stars because recently I had visited Golden Unicorn with my partner and friend. We walked in, the staff had us wait off to the side. We proceeded to watch the staff welcome in many groups of people that had come after us. We waited for about fifteen minutes and watched 10 groups go in and we were ignored. I walked up to one of the staff members and asked, in Mandarin, if there were no tables that would accommodate a party of three. I was significantly taller than this woman, and upon hearing my question, I saw genuine fear in her eyes. She spoke into her walkie talkie, approached me, absolutely terrified, and told me and my party to take the elevator up to the third floor. It seems that the staff attempted to compensate for their error. After arriving on the third floor, we were seated. I went to the bathroom, and when I came back, no more than five minutes later, my partner and friend had been bombarded with all of the cart ladies coming to our table. The table was full of almost every item available that tastes good. While I do appreciate that they very obviously tried to absolve their mistake, I was disappointed in the behavior of the women seating everyone who ignored us. I will still return to this establishment, however if I need to confront any staff member in Mandarin again, I very much so will as necessary.
