I never had Jewish food before and was blown away with the menu. I got a house made soda and really liked the holiday special turkey latkes. It had jalapeño cream cheese and picked peppers. I got a side of chicken schnitzel and really liked it. I also recommend the broccoli melt. It was very filling and the bun was challah. They have tables for small groups and a bar for dine in as well. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Gertie is so cute and if you have all the time in the world, I'd recommend ordering for here to enjoy the ambiance, it truly does feel like an old school Jewish diner, which can feel rare to stumble upon. I ordered the Lox Smith on An Onion Bialy consisting of: Acme LoxPickled BeetsDill-y CukesPlain SchmearLemon TahiniHard Boiled EggTheir menu is impressive and I'd have probably ordered the Yenta if it were not for the lox. The Lox Smith was very filling for breakfast, the pickled cucumbers were nicely seasoned although I feel like the egg could've been less hard boiled and more jammy.

Had a great brunch at Gertie's the other day. We came in on a Sunday afternoon. The two of us were able to get a table right away. We ordered the chicken sandwich and pickled veggies. Everything hit the spot. The fries especially were delicious. We also ordered a chocolate babka for the road that was so yummy. The service was quick and attentive. The interior is bright and comfy. We will definitely be back!

Cashier was very friendly and nice.I ordered the Queen's Madame (Gertie Bagel) $15 with fried egg ($4) and it was delicious. The Queen's Madame contains house corned beef, Muenster, arugula, and gertie aoili. The corned beef was a little dry but the gertie aoili was spot on and helped with the corned beef. It was quite messy eating this as all runny egg and the aoili was spilling over the edges but thankfully they gave thick napkins. The pickles on the side was a nice addition. The rainbow cookie was decent. It was bigger than the usual Italian rainbow cookies.

I made a reservation at Gertie on a Sunday morning, and my friend and I were seated promptly. It was a bit earlier than the typical Sunday brunch rush, so I was surprised to find the restaurant was already busy, but I assumed (correctly) that it must have been a good sign. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, despite tending to multiple tables simultaneously.I ordered a cold brew and a Gertie bagel sandwich. The cold brew, which is on tap, tasted great, though I wish the glass hadn't been so small. I could have easily used a refill, but decided against it, as the price was a little steep at $6.00. The Gertie bagel sandwich was delicious, and contained eggs, cheddar cheese, hot sauce, and pickled peppers. The bagels are hand rolled and kettle boiled on-site, and upon tasting mine, I could tell it had been freshly made. Admittedly, I was slightly disappointed they didn't have more than a few flavors (+ a bialy) to choose from, but they're a small restaurant, not a bagel shop, so it made sense.Overall, Gertie is an awesome brunch spot. I'll definitely be back!

I visited this place for lunch, and despite the super long line, we patiently waited for about an hour. Surprisingly, after that hour, we were seated at the bar, only to notice that there were plenty of other available seats. It left us wondering why we weren't directed to those instead. Once seated, I found myself at the end of the bar, and the baristas, who also served us, placed random drinks in front of me and asked me to leave space for them to serve other patrons. However, I must say that the hostess and other staff were very friendly. Now, onto the food - I ordered the latkes, which turned out to be quite substantial for two people. The potato latkes were generously filled with potato and came with the option to dip them in sour cream or apple butter. They had a satisfying crunch and tasted quite good, although I wouldn't return just for them. The heirloom melt was average, essentially a simple sandwich with toast and mushrooms, not particularly noteworthy. On the other hand, my friend ordered the Yenta, which I found to be good and unique. It featured white fish with peppers beneath a bagel. The restaurant itself had a cute ambiance, but everything felt a bit sticky. It might have been due to the rainy weather that day, but even the utensils felt sticky. If you happen to be in the area and need a brunch spot, it's worth considering, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

When I'm in Brooklyn, I miss those old diners we'd go to as a family for breakfast. A place where they're serving up comfort foods and you can always get a great cup of coffee. I experienced that nostalgic vibe at Gertie. Gertie has a cool vibe, WE'VE GOT BAGELS, BABKA + BOOZE. I never saw that slogan growing up at any diner on Flatbush avenue. Let's rock it Gertie!I was seated in a nice setting, lots of windows and light. It's early and one of these outrageous homemade bagel choices seems too heavy for me, I'm going with the Challah Bread French Toast. The Challah Bread FT was a perfect choice! The French Toast was total comfort breakfast food and the coffee served to me was a nice roast blend. I couldn't do the booze part but I'm keeping my options open.Gertie, it was a pleasure to have breakfast at your Jew-ish style diner.

Made a reservation on Resy for brunch here since it's been on the list for awhile for me. This place is popping for brunch! So packed! got the Gertie Breakfast which is the plate that's known here. The combo came with bialy which was good - the salmon and eggs were good. The schmear was sweet and buttery. Food here was good! Matcha latte was okay, quality was solid. The restaurant is a bit loud though so be prepared to use your outdoor voice! Otherwise had a good time

My friend suggested Gertie's for brunch and we loved it. We went around noon on a Thursday and sat down right away. We shared the latkas which were delicious. I ordered the challah French toast and loved it, while my friend ordered the corned beef hash and enjoyed it (they give a lot so she took a lot of it home). The coffee was delicious too. Overall great food and vibes, would definitely come back and recommend.

Amazing! Such a fun Jewish-inspired deli. We got the Cesar salad (really good with a twist), chicken schnitzel, matzah ball soup and everything was great. Very crowded so took some time but definitely worth the wait. The people who work there were really nice too!
