George's Spanish and American Restaurant

Stopped in here a few times but never wrote a review so here it is. Customer service is great.. you're greeted and asked if you'd like to sit and eat or stand and order to go. I chose to go of course. I ordered a chicken soup which is very hard for other restaurants to make good these days, but not Georgies, when it comes to soup, they deliver all the goodness. The meat given is so much. It's like ordering a 1/4 chicken chopped up in soup. I appreciate that because most places give you a ton of noodles and hardly any meat. The soup is extremely flavorful and perfect for a nice winter day. I've had their rice and chicken before and I enjoyed that as well. I'll definitely keep coming here for soups, rice and chicken because its perfect.

For this to be a Spanish restaurant im disappointed. The food lacks flavor . Prices are decent but food needs more flavor.!

Not great. Rice & beans had no flavor, maduros were old. I requested only dark meat for my 1/2 chicken platter, but they said it wasn't possible. They gave me some breast meat, a wing, some dark meat, and a chicken neckHorchata was great but a little too sweet.Friendly service though.

"I guess you should only go for the Cuchifritos"I stopped in after a workout for breakfast-type food and I will say that I was a little disappointed. I will give credit to George's in saying that the service was very prompt and on point but my food was a little struggle. I order eggs with chorizo. I was under the assumption that there would be scrambled eggs with a SIDE of chorizo; not eggs scrambled with chorizo. On top of that the eggs were scrambled WAAAYY too hard. Either that or the cook cut the eggs into pieces after they were cook. Well the rice and beans were good. So, kudos on that. Hopefully, I can gather the strength to return and maybe give this place a better review..

This is poor quality food. I order a number 34 which is roast pork, salad and fried bananas. Roast pork was shredded as it was left overs and the avocado was a piece of God knows what. My folks in the community swear by this place but I can guarantee you all that for the price it isn't worth it.

Disgusting food. Just god awful. Went here and ordered a half rotisserie chicken with rice and beans. To stay. The girl put my food on a to go plate and my drink in a to go cup. After again telling her it was to stay she leaves in the to go plastic tray and gives me plastic forks and knives. Didn't even have the common decency to give me metal utensils like everyone else. I ate my food like this in the restaurant and when I tried the chicken it was cold and the rice and beans were so bland and also cold. Worst food I ever had in my life! The orchata drink isn't real orchata. It's flavored water and sugar. Avoid this place by all means. I didn't even take 2 bites I literally gave it to the first homesless person I saw down the street and even then I felt bad giving them such shitty food. God help you if you eat here. The food is awful and the service is horrible.

George's is not on the map. And it should be on the map. This just occurred to me. I go there all the time yet when I login to Yelp every 15 minutes during the day where the hell is George's?!! They are amazing. The plátanos rellenos are insane. It's the biggest local secret apparently. Ask for extra gravy. The chicken is insane. The pernil is insane. From a strict foodie/food taxonomy standpoint they are all over the map. And that is f?!$ing awesome. The tacos are great. The rice is great. The aguas frescas are great. The burritos are great. Just get half a chicken and as many plátanos rellenos you can eat in 3 days. Freeze some. Load the bunker. One day I will try everything on the menu.

Never again!!! You know when you are driving by and the menu pics make you want the food? Well that's what happened to me yesterday. But I forgot to listen to the voice in my head that said ..check the reviews! Anyhoo, went inside (nice ambiance) ordered a basic rotisserie with rich and beans ($8.75) and decided to sit down. Well what I got was a dried up salt less no seasoning half a chicken with an also bland tasting rice and beans. Question? How does Spanish rice and beans have no flavor. What happened to the Sazon, the adobo, the scent. Damn! At least put a Spanish olive in there. Do something! #Neveragain

CUCHIFRITOS !!The food here is excellent. I usually get the same thing whenever I am here. I order rice and beans with chicharron (fried pork skin), plantains, and a couple of papas rellenas (fried potato balls stuffed with meat). When you order papas rellenas, make sure to ask for their garlic sauce. It's just heavenly when you eat them together.The only downside about coming here are their prices. It's a pretty ghetto area and for a platter with papas rellenas, it comes out to roughly 16 bucks. But still, the food is really amazing for what you pay for. Parking isn't too difficult and the J, M, and G train are all nearby.Verdict - If you're looking for Puerto Rican food in Williamsburg, this is your spot! You could order through their street window or inside of their restaurant. There is another Cuchifritos restaurant across the street but it's not as good. Make sure you come to George's. They won't disappoint!

It maybe what I ordered but the chicken soup was awful and I had to send the alcapurria back it was greasy and rubbery. Service was ok and the ambience. I had to cook my own chicken soup.
