Came here for a birthday dinner for my friend, and I immediately left telling my bf that I wanted to come here for dinner sometime. The staff handled a group of 8 perfectly. We all had different entrees and drinks - all of which came out in a timely basis and were delicious. Drinks were well made. Ambiance is very "vibey" with the dimly lit restaurant and decor. It felt sexy but also can work for all types of dinners (work, family, etc). Bathroom is downstairs, and I'm not sure if there is a handicap accessible option. I had the pesto pasta with a side of meatballs. I LOVED the pesto pasta but probably could have skipped the meatballs. I believe we had tiramisu for dessert, and it was heavenly.

Ambiance- 10/10! High ceilings and enough space between seatings, nice decor to set the vibe!Food- Bruschetta was really tasty! Pasta was served al dente with an amazing vodka sauce. The pizza was thin crust, cheese heavy though I wanted to taste more of the diavolo sauce, also very tasty! They let us substitute veggies for the shrimp. Needed extra spice for both of these spicier labeled items. The tiramisu was perfect- love when there's an equal ratio of soaked butterfingers to the cream!Service- waiter left midway without telling us so we didn't know who to ask for to continue the rest of the meal/pay! But we eventually just stopped someone and asked them to help us. Cute date night spot!

Terrific modern Italian in a beautiful older space with really great service5 star food: every pasta based dish I have ever tried here has been outstanding. It's one of the few places where you almost can't go wrong food wise 5 star service: the staffers are friendly and funny. The vibe is a warm "welcome to my home" feeling5 star ambience: it's old New York elegance outside and swanky modern comforts inside.

Ive walked past this restaurant so many times and finally was able to get the chance to sit down to eat. The restaurant itself is very cozy and dimly lit. Be warned the tables are very close to each other. I had very high expectations of this place which was probably my own fault but it was not too bad. I had the crispy octopus, bone marrow bruschetta, inferno pizza, vongole, and ceviche. The octopus and ceviche were both sour dishes so having them together was a bit overwhelming. The inferno pizza is also very spicy, be warned. The best dish was probably the vongole and the octopus. The restaurant is worth a try for its ambiance.

Came as a group of 5 on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered:Apps: grilled octopus & calamariPizza: infernoPasta: pistachio pesto, lamb, and vodka The breading was crumbing off the calamari, and the vodka pasta was pretty underwhelming. Octopus was solid, inferno pizza actually had a kick to it, and the pistachio pesto was the favorite as the lemon in it made it bright and light. This place has been on my list of restaurants to check out & the food was good for the most part but there wasn't anything to rave about. While our host was really sweet, our server gave us the vibe that she didn't want to be there. She wasn't friendly at all, not even a hi just came straight to ask what kind of water we wanted and if we were ready to order. When the check came, an automatic 20% gratuity was added. Their website says groups of 6 or more would get the automatic gratuity & we had 5 people. I asked whether or not it was 6 and our server just straight face deadpan said "it's 5 too." The difference in gratuity is only a few dollars but I personally feel like whatever is on the website should be honored. Bill came out to $190, which isn't terrible at $38 a person... but for the underwhelming experience we wouldn't come back.

Gelso and grand is one of my fave tried and true Italian spots! I've been coming for years now and the quality stays consistent and fabulous!!Service is sometimes a hit or miss in my opinion, however the food and ambiance makes up for it! My personal faves are the kale Caesar salad, ANY of their pizzas, pesto pasta, calamari, however none of their dishes fail to impress! I tried a couple new pastas last night - the truffle and the vodka pastas, and they were off the charts!! Plus points for clean and multiple bathrooms, and super spacious venue!!

We stopped in here for drinks after walking around Chinatown and Little Italy in NYC. We sat at the bar and watched the bartenders work their magic. Amazing. The dining area was packed with patrons ordering great looking dishes and wood fired brick oven pizzas. The setting is upscale casual with high ceilings and exposed brick and large windows. We were treated well and felt relaxed and welcomed. Their set list was great! The restrooms are clean and there is a photo both downstairs that is working.

Overall, Gelso & Grand pretty good. I wouldn't say anything blew me away, especially for being in NYC's Little Italy, but it was still a cute spot (really liked the industrial rustic interior) and satisfied my itch for pasta. The meatballs were a good size but both the meat and the sauce weren't super flavorful. Even a little more salt would've been better! I ordered the pistachio pesto pasta with shrimp and was happy with it. I wasn't a fan of spaghetti as a noodle choice for this dish but the pesto was a hit. It had the "chunkier" but oily consistency that I prefer (not soupy or creamy) and there was a good amount of it for the portion size. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and had a nice grill/char flavor. I love cannolis but probably could've gone without these ones, as they were overwhelmed with cinnamon flavor. The service was good, nothing extraordinary one way or the other. As an out-of-state visitor to the city, I probably wouldn't seek this restaurant out again, but if I lived in the neighborhood I think it could be a solid Italian staple!

Omg, I went to Gelso & Grand and I have to say that I did have one of the most beautiful experiences in an Italian restaurant everything was so good. Service was beyond my expectations my server Danill was always making sure that everything was on point. The cocktails were also amazing. But the Chicken Parmesan oh god. Delicious Highly recommend this place.
