Came here to grab lunch and was pleasantly surprised! This is definitely one of the more upscale restaurants in Ktown. Upon stepping off the elevator we were greeted by the hostess who checked us in for our reservation. She left for a couple of minutes to scope open tables and was able to seat us at a table by the window so we had a beautiful view of the city. We had the soju flight, bibimbap and tofu soup. Good quality meat, vegetables and seafood. Enjoyed every dish!

Gaonnuri has a stunning view of Manhattan, but unfortunately the food misses the mark on adding to such an experience. We went with the seasonal 5 course tasting menu ($145 pp) with some additional amuse-bouche provided by the kitchen. The smoky mushrooms (4/5) were flavorful but cold. The A5 wagyu ssam (5/5) was a delicious bite. The BBQ duo set (3/5) was average - not bad but nothing remarkable. We sat for what felt like an hour before the seafood hot stone bibimbap and beef radish soup set (3/5) came out - a bit salty but the flavor was alright. My favorite part was the winter citrus vacherin dessert (5/5) - a perfect blend of citrus and ginger! Overall, the long wait in service and lack of flavor left us underwhelmed. A great place for the views if you reserve window tables but other than that, I would recommend other KBBQ places in NYC.

I used to have a hard & fast rule to not eat at your favorite restaurants on holidays (you're almost always severely disappointed), but the team at Gaonnuri went above and beyond at New Year's Eve, and gave us a truly special evening! As usual, the room offers stunning, up close views of the Empire State Building (just past the host stand behind the wine rack, to the right), and with our table by the window, we could see all the way up Broadway into Times Square (without any of the crowds, rain or lightning that came with NYE this year). The hostess & wait staff were attentive, and took care of everything from drinks, a 12 course omakase menu, spread out over 2.5 hours, and some fantastic accessories for the midnight celebration. The food is always top notch, but Gaonurri raised the bar for NYE and made the price for the experience fully worth it.

I think you pay for the service and atmosphere at this restaurant. I felt like the food wasn't worth the price but I really enjoyed the service and views. Everyone that came to our table was so kind and I enjoyed their company. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious. We really enjoyed the views. The food for me wasn't the best korean bbq I've had. I was hoping to be more wowed by the quality of the food. I don't know if I would come back just because I think the food missed the mark.

An amazing restaurant with breathtaking views of the city. Would be the perfect restaurant for a special occasion. The braised pork belly was probably one of the best I've had in ktown. Super flavorful and pairs perfectly with the kimchi radish. Our server was amazing and cooked our meat to perfection.Would definitely recommend!

Views with a Side of KBBQ: A Feast for the Eyes, Not Necessarily the PalateSoaring high above the city on the 39th floor, Gaonnuri is a New York destination that blends modern elegance with Korean barbecue traditions. The clean, modern decor and breathtaking panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline make it an Instagrammer's dream. It's the perfect spot to impress a date or anyone seeking a unique dining experience. The service is top-notch, and they've even managed to elevate the KBBQ experience to feel refined and luxurious. However, the food itself presents a different story. While it's not bad by any means, it doesn't quite live up to the rest of the experience. We opted for the omakase menu, featuring beautifully presented dishes and delightful amuse-bouches. Despite the stunning presentation, some dishes lacked depth of flavor. Surprisingly, the highlight wasn't even the meat (which, to their credit, boasts premium cuts). It was a simple vegetable salad, which speaks volumes. The banchan selection was also disappointingly limited, with basically just kimchi on offer. The Verdict: All About the ViewIf you're willing to pay a premium for the stunning views and luxurious ambiance, Gaonnuri delivers. It's a great option for a unique NYC dining experience, but don't expect to be wowed by the food alone. While it's certainly Instagram-worthy, it might not satisfy your taste buds as much.In short:Views: Breathtaking! 5 starsService & Ambiance: Top-notch! Feels luxurious. 5 starsFood: Not bad, but some dishes fall flat. Presentation is impressive, but flavor is a 3 out of 5.Value: It depends. You're paying for the experience, not necessarily the food. If that's what you prioritize, it's worth it. But KBBQ purists might be disappointed.Foodies, especially those with a love for Korean cuisine, may find the offerings underwhelming. The portions are modest as well, so don't go in expecting a feast. Ultimately, Gaonnuri is a place where the food, though decent, takes a backseat to the impressive backdrop.

Was worried this would be the type of place where you just pay for the view/ambiance but the food was actually great.Made a reservation for dinner and came with a friend. Note that if you want a window seat, you have to reserve omakase, but we still had a great time and they seated us fairly close to the window seats.I tried:+ Lychee martini - solid+ Japchae with beef - perfect + Premium set - really loved the prime ribeye in particular Great assortment of banchan, too. Kimchi stew was also awesome!Ignore Google Maps - Entrance is on 32nd st next to Tiger Sugar Bubble Tea.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday and had a great time. We had a reservation so we were seated right away. The restaurant interior was on the fancier side and had a beautiful view of Manhattan. We ordered the Gaon Set for each of the 4 of us and we thought it was enough food for us all to be full. The meats were nicely cooked by the staff and I really liked the side dishes. The kimchi was super fresh and matched well with the meats. Would definitely recommend, especially for any people visiting NYC and want to see a nice skyline view.

Amazing penthouse view. We were planning to order $195 omakase BBQ but the menu didn't mention it's per person and the whole table has to all order Omakase so with that we went with the $85 per person set and the meat was great and I love the soybean soup they offered with mushrooms and beef inside. It's super tasty and overall a great dining experience.

The food was disappointing - we had the Valentine's day set menu and everything tasted like next-day leftovers. One of the courses, a mix of veggies and grains, might as well have been a bowl of sesame oil. The wagyu ($100 btw) was impossible to chew and also too oily.All-around not a good experience, and the service didn't make up for it. The waiter called kimchi "fermented cabbage" lol. All you need to know. Would not recommend - especially at that ridiculous price.
