Friend of a Farmer is always packed for brunch when we walk by. We finally got a chance to try it one weekend when we arrived before noon. The place is decorated like a cute farmhouse and very cozy especially in the winter. We ordered the market omelette and southwestern wrap. Before we received our dishes, we got complimentary cornbread! It was one of the best cornbreads I've ever had. The market omelette was stuffed with mushrooms and spinach. I wish the spinach was cooked though, as it was just added in at the end. The wrap was filled with eggs, sour cream, guacamole and cheese. It was a good size and the eggs were cooked well. Will be back for dinner and that cornbread!

I went here a good while ago with a group as per many recent reviews. I'm unsure the price differences between now and then and there are some menu changes but this to be expected especially for a farm to table spot like this. If a tourist was coming and looking for American comfort food or if someone was looking for something that tastes for lack of better words homemade, I would probably recommend this place. However, if you're looking for more spices and more unique food, there's better places, and I also overall found many of the dishes to be a bit sweet. The inside is nice though a bit dark for photos and the service was good. This feels more like a lunch and brunch place which makes sense as I have heard they get very crowded during said time. I had a cocktail which was some seasonal fall cocktail and I don't remember what was in it outside of it being well spiced with some citrus. Shoutouts to their excellent free bread which is a Cornbread served with apple butter. Most places don't even give bread anymore and the fact they give this for free is wonderful. The cornbread had a perfect texture and the apple butter had large chunks of apple in it.We soon got the Parmesan Herb Crusted Shrimp with citrus & garlic infused olive oil. The shrimp were a bit salty but were still pretty tasty with almost a bit too much oil and a regular bread instead of their excellent cornbread would have probably worked nicely to dip in there (which worked out as we also got the crostini.) I don't see this on the current menu but it was fine. Speaking of the crostini, the Harvest Crostini with roasted butternut squash, whipped feta & honey, fig chutney & sage was solid. A bit sweet from the mixture of honey and the fig chutney but there was some good fall flavors. Said dish is now is now listed with caramelized brussels sprouts, crispy bacon, whipped ricotta, chopped walnuts, and honey, which sounds like a better mix.We otherwise got a bunch of main dishes and they all were fine. My favorite of the bunch was the Local Duck with spiced blackberry & beet compote with a parsnip puree and wild mushrooms which is now with baby carrots, oyster mushrooms, pinot noir glaze & orange compote. The compote was delicious with a sweet and slightly spicy mix and the duck was cooked properly though I would have preferred more of a crust. The Short Rib with four cheese grits with roasted asparagus in a port wine demi-glace was also tasty. The short ribs were cooked properly with the fat being properly rendered with a light sauce. The grits were quite rich also and their current preparation with crispy kale and rosemary polenta sounds like a more balanced dish even though I'm not the biggest fan of kale. There was also the Terry Alan Chicken stuffed with granny smith apples & cheddar cheese with homemade lemon bread, mashed potatoes, and a citrus honey raisin sauce. The chicken was moist but it wasn't the biggest fan of the flavor as it was simultaneously a bit salty and a bit too sweet. I'm unsure if this was the honey raisins or the cheddar or that combination but it just didn't really work for me.We otherwise got the two pies along with the pie for dessert. Better the two main dishes was the Ranch Hand Shepherd's Pie with grass-fed beef, fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes. The beef was tender and it was a good mix with well seasoned potatoes. A bit blander was the Old Fashioned Chicken Pot Pie with fresh vegetables and pastry crust. The chicken was fine but it was a bit bland so it tasted a bit watery though the crust was tasty. The Rustic Apple Pie for Two (which is made in limited quantities) has granny smith apples, buttery pastry crust, and vanilla ice cream. The crust was well made and it was a good mix of sour and sweet with the apples and ice cream. I'd recommend this at least if you're not in the mood to go a few doors down/not wait on line for the outstanding Caffe Panna. The food here was decent. A bit salty for some things and a bit sweet for others. Perfectly average and good if you want a simple meal but not for my liking if I want to go out. Would go for brunch/lunch and likely not for dinner again. Mid/low 3.

Came in for brunch on a weekday with a friend visiting the city. We came around 2:15 on a Thursday and it was only us and one other table. We sat in the back room, you should definitely ask to be sat back there, very pretty! It was decorated like Stewart's farmhouse would feelWe started with two Rancher's cucumber and tonics. So refreshing and very well-balanced we actually ended up ordering another round after our meal. For food I went with the chicken pot pie, such a staple was so delicious! I would say order this for the table so everyone can try it. It was not good. My friend got a sandwich that was a special so it was skirt steak with chimichurri, she said it was the best sandwich she's had all year so I'm sad. It's not on the actual menu for other people to try. The fries were definitely could've been better, but overall everything we had was very good and I can't wait to go back!

Had a great time! Felt like I was upstate New York with the various comfort foods. Had the chicken pot pie for dinner which was very satisfying with a side of the corn bread. For dessert shared the sweet and perfectly baked apple pie!

Came on a Wednesday at noon with a reservation for four people. We sat upstairs which felt like a rustic barn and there were real fruits on display like an actual farm (of course can't take the fruits)!I got the Barn Burger medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. Really enjoyed the arugula and crispy bacon which gave the burger a nice crunchy texture. Buns were buttered and toasted although the bottom of the buns did get soggy. I would prefer the fries without the parmesan but the fries itself stayed crispy even after I gradually made my way through the burger. Service was attentive but a little slow. The restaurant was starting to get packed when we arrived and by the time we left around 1pm it was packed so make a reservation.

Visited for Monday brunch, and it was maybe half full? There's plenty of seating in their covered outdoor area, downstairs, and upstairs. The vibe is darker but very farmhouse-y. Which makes so much sense lolI had their cornbread waffles and a side of pork sausage. The waffles were okay! I liked the kernels of corn, but it didn't have much flavor besides the added syrup. The pork sausage was also extremely fatty. Felt like 50% oil. Indulgent and flavorful, but felt very heavy and unhealthy eating it. My friend had ordered an omelette, but it was unevenly filled. Half had no filling, other half had all the filling lolService was also okay! Everything was just kinda mediocre.

I am shattered this isn't in my backyard!!! But maybe it's for the best because I think I would eat there every single morning. Without any exaggeration, hands down, best French Toast ever! Okay, in all honesty I didn't like the side of spicy potatoes nor did my daughter but that's a preference. The eggs and bacon were perfect though so I didn't have room for them anyway. My husband ordered the cornbread waffle and pea soup, which paired really well although it doesn't sound like it.The atmosphere is terrific and is great for an upscale brunch. I would highly recommend a visit!!

We ordered the boomer special that came with pancake, choice of meat, eggs, and the potato dish. We also ordered the sheperd's pie that came with beef, potato's, and vegetables. My favorite was the sheperd's pie which was very creamy and savory! Definitely something worth trying out! The blueberry pancake was so delicious that came with the boomer special. It's a classic American style dining spot! It tends to get busy later towards lunch time, so I would recommend coming in a little bit earlier so you can get seated fast!

I stopped in this very cozy place on a cold day needing to be warmed up with some comfort food! Friend of farmers did not disappoint! I had the farmers omelette that had all fresh ingredients on one of the fluffiest omelettes ever! The home fries had to be the best home fries I have ever eaten....they were not your typical somewhat dry home fries, these were moist and filled with flavor. I could not leave without trying their apple pie made to order! These little treat definitely will remind you of grandma!

Cutest place we ate at while I was in New York. Would 100% eat here again. I'm glad I made a reservation so that I could sit upstairs and not in the front area as it was a cold day and the door was drafty. Upstairs area is adorable and the food was unreal. I got the boomer special so I got to try a little bit of breakfast. I went with blueberry pancakes and I'm so glad I did. The bacon was super crispy and the eggs were delicious. I wasn't huge on the potatoes, but I'm not crazy into potatoes that style so they just weren't for me. I bet you pretty much anyone else would love them. Will 100% come back
