I been wanting to visit this place for a while now. It's difficult to find a really good laksa place in the city and I was so excited to finally find one. I came first time during lunch hours but they were closed! The yelp hours need to be updated. I visited again during dinner time and they were open. It was pretty empty inside just another table dining. Staff were friendly and the food was served quickly. Ordered the curry laksa and the rendeng beef. I felt like the portion size was a little bit small. The curry laksa was not bad but didn't have any seafood, just tofu and what seemed like a meatball/fish cake. But flavor was not bad. The noodles were also not quite what I expected. It was like meifun noodles but I was expecting more thicker noodles. Overall: it was not bad but didn't quite meet my expectations. I wouldn't come again.

Upon entering you walk into what seems to be an American bar but in actuality once you sit down you get a completely different menu than you would expect! Quiet but quick service, we went with the top 3 most popular dishes. Our favorite was the crispy rice and the potatoes in the curried chicken were delicious! The curry laksa was a new taste to us but also good.

It's cute that Yelp thinks it can categorize this utterly uncategorizable restaurant/bar. The menu is half American bar food, half Malaysian. On the night I was there, it was just me, eating a shockingly delicious and rich laksa; the server's mom, whose laksa recipe I was enjoying and who sat in the back proudly overseeing my reaction; and a couple guys at the bar, obviously there to watch the game and really not interested in the food, cautiously selecting 'whatever noodles aren't too spicy'.It's good that they specified, though, because my laksa was VERY spicy. I had to ask for more napkins just to soak up everything leaking out of my face.It was also great. Stuffed with uncharacteristic ingredients like crispy fried beancurd skins, fish and meat stuffed in eggplants and peppers, and pork meatballs, its bright red chili oil swirled menacingly atop the deeper cream stew.

One of the best curry laksa's and beef satay I've had in a long time. Everything was full of flavor and authentic. We got to meet the owner and most of the recipes are made by his mom. We had a incredible experience here. If you are around the area looking for homemade Malaysian food and drink it is definitely worth a try.

Possibly the kindest owner in all of east village working with his mom to make quality, home style Malaysian/canto food. It's lovely. The style of the restaurant is a true mix of cultures which was fun to see. You think you're walking into an American bar, but the menu has delicious satay, dumplings, and curries. Only in NYC :) Got the curry laksa and the nasi. Both were awesome and plenty of food for us 2. If you're debating on going, just do it!!!

Fishmarket II seems to be a hidden restaurant/bar offering some authentic Malaysian dishes. As a whole, it's probably quite average, but the beef rendang and the curry laksa were some memorable dishes and definitely above average. Service is great as well.

So happy that I found another solid Malaysian food place in the city!! As someone who visited Singapore and KL often growing up, I have been on the hunt for Malaysian food when I moved to NYC! The curry laksa here definitely hit the spot!! Although the soup isn't as heavy on the shrimp flavors, its garlic-y and coconut-y aroma is highlight of this soup! As soon as staff brought it out, you could smell the onion and curry immediately! The thin rice noodles are my favorite and love how they are al dente and never got soggy. The laska also featured stuffed eggplant and stuffed pepper (kinda like the 煎酿三宝) which I loved!! I think its stuffed with pork/shrimp and goes so well with the curry. The dish also featured a good amount of tofu puffs, bean sprouts, and bean curd sheets. The beef rendang is typically my other go-to. The version here was a little different but still delicious! Instead of chunks of meat, their beef was more shredded/pulled. The rendang base featured kaffir lime leaves which offered a fresh contrasting flavor to the spices/curry (more than what typical lemongrass would do). The spicy chicken and green bean was pretty standard. The sting beans were crispy and chicken tender. The sauce was a little more generic like a stir fry but I did appreciate the sesame oil and chili oil. They do have rotating specials but didn't get a chance to try. The restaurant itself only had moderate amount of tables but they do have some bar seating. Our server was really nice but maybe a little too attentive. Overall loved the familiar but also new flavors and definitely see myself coming back!

Really enjoyed the outstanding service of this family owned restaurant. Since some of their most popular dishes are spicy, you can ask to make it less spicy if your tolerance is low. Everything was made in the kitchen fresh. My personal favorite was the stuffed eggplant. It's similar to the stuffed eggplants in dim sum but much crispier and bigger. A true authentic Malaysian-Cantonese gem.

I can't say enough good things about this place! I came here because of the perfect 5 stars on Yelp and Mama did NOT disappoint!!!!!! I had made a reservation for 5 and a baby on Easter Sunday and was greeted by one of mamas sons and a lovely waitress who let us have a table in the back that was more quiet than the front area, they even offered to let us watch whatever we wanted on both tvs!We ordered family style off the menu and got the crispy rice, char kueh teow, beef redang, mamas chicken curry, lots of fresh roti, and the laksa.I cannot tell you what I liked best because it truly felt like every bite was better than the last. I was truly blown away by the flavours mama was cooking up in the back, and the fact that she came to check in on us too! If you're looking for authentic Malaysian, and some incredible service - this place is a MUST!

First visit here on a Sunday night. The place was completely empty. I ordered the curry laksa, my favorite soup, for $24.83. The portion size leaves a lot to be desired for that price. The soup is very salty & oily. And the spice level was too high for my taste. I didn't find the soup to be enjoyable at all. The chunks of eggplant are thin and overcooked rather than thick & juicy. There's supposed to be fish in here, but I couldn't make out what kind of fish because it was cut in thin strips that were slimy on one side & crispy on the other? I'm sorry to say I didn't enjoy this at all. The lady who took my order was friendly & nice, but the laksa was overpriced & not to my liking.
