We discovered this dim sum house by a happy accident and we are so glad we did! The food was incredible, the service was warm and friendly and the restaurant itself was cozy and welcoming. We had the crabmeat and pork Xiao long bao (soup dumplings), the egg drop soup and the hot and spicy wontons to start. They were all delicious, get them all if you can. The broth of the egg drop soup was insane, some of the best I've ever had in the city. The egg ribbons were perfect and it was just the best way to start this whole meal. The hot and spicy wontons are in a spicy peanut butter sauce so just be weary of that if you have any allergies. The Xiao long bao were perfect. The meat and the broth were delectable, like lip-smackingly good. Definitely up there with the likes of Joe's soup dumplings and other Chinatown favs. For our main, we had the special fried rice which paired really well with the chilli oil and the cashew chicken which had lots of veggies like zucchini, celery and carrots, and was just so yummy and paired really well with the rice. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area. 10/10 recommend!

A delicious Chinese food experience.I found Excellent Dumpling House by accident after walking aimlessly in Manhattan and realizing I needed lunch. While mostly empty when we arrived, we were quickly seated and served. The mostly bare walls and lack of overall aesthetic gave a bit of a passive ambiance vibe, but what they lack in decorations, they made up for it in food quality.Excellent Dumpling House's must have are their dumplings, and their soup dumplings are the star of the shoe. They're filled with steamy broth and in a delicate wrapper making them difficult to grab without rupturing them, but well worth it when you get the perfect bite. Their peking duck spring roll was tasty, but a bit small for my preference. But the sizzling eggplant served on a hot plate was exactly what I hoped for: juicy tender explants in a garlic sauce that just melts in your mouth. If you need a quick bite or a sit down lunch, enjoy Excellent Dumpling House's excellent dumplings.

Food is mediocre. Soup dumplings has a lot of soup and a lot of filling, but the filling was lacking flavor. The soy, vinegar mix was TOO sweet and did not have that salty tart flavor you expect. The Dan Dan noodles tasted and looked like overcooked spaghetti with schezuan sauce. I took two bites and gave on hoping it would taste better. Food is really two stars. The service is 4 stars. They are attentive, friendly and accommodating. They also had a ton of solo diners and takeout orders.

A no frills restaurant with some solid dumplings. We got the steamed shrimp dumplings and the seafood soup dumplings. The steamed shrimp dumplings were really good, shrimp inside was really tender and flavored well, and the dumpling shell itself was steamed just the right amount. The seafood soup dumpling was just okay, but the soup itself was pretty good and made up for it. Service was really quick even in the midst of having multiple tables occupied, our food came out in 10 mins

An inconspicuous hole-in-the-wall joint that specializes in dumplings (apparently) and lunch specials (along with takeout). Cheap lunch specials $9.99 dine in. Twice cooked pork 回锅肉: 1/5 tbh I thought the waiter mistakenly brought my order bc it was unrecognizable. Not to mention it was extremely greasy. Chicken cutlet 鸡排 was very good and flavorful. Honestly I wish I got this. Potstickers were pan fried and were very good--homemade and lots of filling.

Came on a Saturday for lunch before leaving on a flight home. Ordered a Peking duck spring roll, the pork XLB, shrimp dumplings, and shu mai. It was all tasty. Didn't have any issues getting a table at noon here for a group of 3.Service was fine from some and friendly from one guy. Kind of what I'd expect at a Chinese restaurant though. When I visit NY, I try to stay in/near Chelsea, so I'd definitely come back! The pork XLB here is BIG and has lots of soup! That was the highlight for me.

A leap of faith based on Yelp reviews. A bit of Chinatown meets midtown feel. Some local patrons and endless flow of carry outs.We ordered steamed pork bun, House Special Thick Noodles with Chicken and XLB. A hearty meal especially when there's craving for traditional Chinese (carb) food, tho not much to write home about. Convenient location and fair prices. Carryout seems popular here.

Stumbled upon this humble little spot in Chelsea and so happy we did. The dumplings and scallion pancakes were all great. We definitely ordered more than we could eat as we didn't know how good sized the portions were. The spot is not fancy looking, but it is perfect for a good bite and easy going dinner. We will certainly return

Great dinner tonight at Excellent Dumpling House. The name fits there experience perfectly. Food was top notched, reasonably priced, and had good value (they did not skimp on the duck). Server was friendly and was attentive. If you're looking for some good dim sum / Chinese eats in Chelsea area, consider Excellent Dumpling House.

My niece and sister swear by this place, as it is their go-to for soup dumplings. In honor of my sis being in town we made plans for dinner. Walked in, seated quickly, space isn't too big but big enough. The server was very welcoming, funny and really just had that kind of persona that just makes you feel at ease and welcomed. The soup dumplings were reallllllyyy good!!!! And the serving for the price- in Manhattan-!? You cannot go wrong. I also tried their shumai but wasn't really thrilled. My sis had the spinach dumplings, believe me!!! after trying one I was secretly debating whether I should order one for myself. I already foresee myself craving and coming back for more.
