Another great edition of Eataly. If you've been, you know the drill. A market surrounded by terrific food stalls and restaurants. The pastas here are outstanding. But this last time, I tried some of the pizzas. The slices are huge and varied. The burrata slice was terrific and unique and full of creamy flavor. Service was efficient if a little formal. Great place in the downtown area.

I've both sat down to eat, as well as shopped from the italian grocery at this location. The service was friendly, though the food was merely okay and definitely overpriced -- we had pasta and a glass of wine. I think this spot is fun and almost experiential. I appreciate the fact sheets about pasta, making mozzarella, and different regions of italy. The grocery store is also fun and has a huge selection from fresh pasta, sauces, baked goods, and even fish. Like the restaurant and dining options, the grocery store did strike me as a bit pricey. I have fun here but there are better dining experiences in the city.

Review of ITALIAN RESTAURANT December 2024:Some of the best gluten free pizza in the city -- it truly tastes Neapolitan. Their pizza kitchen is Rossopomodoro which offers a "Leggera" dough made with corn, rice and buckwheat at a $4 upcharge. I got it with the Cotto & Funghi pizza and it was amazing! (See my profile for a previous review of Rossopomodoro Covent Garden in London)Pastas can also be ordered with gluten free penne, but it's nothing special. I once got the Linguini All'astice GF, and it was NOT fantastic for being the most expensive pasta... The penne was super al dente and the lobster was blah.My gluten-eating dining partner said the Prosciutto e Burrata pizza was just OK, and the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese was very good. They serve the dishes whenever they're ready, so they come to the table at different times. The vibe is good, lots of families but also a good date spot. I'd encourage reserving on OpenTable for peak meal times. Great city view with floor to ceiling windows.

3.5 / 5.0 - The desserts are pricey and for the price, I'd expect proper seating. But the cafeteria seating is limited on weekends and we had to wait for some time.I tried the Sfera ($8.90+), which is a huge ball of hazelnuts and chocolate, with hazelnut cream inside, on a shortbread-like cookie. It was a delicious dessert but the cream inside was a bit too sweet for me considering the size. Maybe good for sharing.

This place is amazing!! They have so many creative dishes. I love the variety. They will be opening in Aventura Mall in Florida sometime in 2025. I can't wait!I wanted to try the lasagna pizza as recommended to me by Kareem T. Unfortunately, they were out of it when I was there. That sounded really good. I ended up with a salmon and cream cheese sandwich and it was very good. They have pastas and sauces and cookies and the list goes on from all around Italy. The fresh produce looks better than ANY supermarket I have been to. I love the nice and classy bar when you walk in. They have a nice restaurant but the problem is, they get very crowded, even early in the day. I was there right before the major holidays in December. I imagine it is busy all year because of the high quality of the food. They have $16 pints of gelato. $14 big slices of pizza. They have lots to choose from so bring your appetite and a couple credit cards. Lol

I took advantage of being in the area and enjoyed lunch in Eataly. I went to La Pizza and La Pasta. I ate at the bar since there wasn't a wait. The bartenders were really nice and the limonita drink was delish and refreshing (Tequila, Pallini Limoncello, Agave, Lemon). I ordered the RAVIOLI DI SPINACI AL POMODORO E STRACCIATELLA (Housemade Spinach and Calabro Ricotta filled Pasta, Cherry Tomato, Mutti Tomato, Housemade Stracciatella, Basil) It was good, the cheese was really soft. The spinach in the ravioli was nice. Oh and the focaccia bread was so warm and fluffy, I couldn't eat it all at once and take up precious pasta tummy space I'd go back and try something else because there's so many good options on the menu. Check em out

A FiDi outpost of the popular Italian market-dining concept -- the actual sit-down restaurant is a little hard to find, it's near the back of the building past the cheese. The whole party must be there to be seated and it was pretty busy for the holiday season, though the wait wasn't too long. The food was yummy, standouts include the Bruschetta (love the butternut squash), Lobster Pasta (really great seafood option) and Tableside Tiramisu (so creamy and fun). The Margherita Pizza wasn't anything special and the Ravioli felt a little overcooked and soggy. If you're looking for a place with hearty food without having to make a reservation, this is your spot (if you don't mind a short wait)

We visited on Christmas Day with a group of 8 friends and had a decent, but not outstanding, dining experience. Despite a 30-minute wait for our table, the waiting area was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We had two children in our party (5 and 7 year olds) and we appreciate the staff bringing them some crayons and a coloring card. Our dinner order was quite extensive, including calamari, the charcuterie board, mozzarella fritter, lobster pasta, branzini, and mushroom truffle pizza. The pizza was the standout dish - it was delicious! However, the lobster pasta was a major letdown, and the appetizers were just average - maybe an extra point for the burrata that I'm partial to and was really tasty. The biggest disappointment came with dessert. The tiramisu had a frozen center, and the pantonne cake, which was supposed to be served tableside, wasn't. This oversight felt like a miss, especially on a holiday.Overall, our experience at Eataly Downtown was just about average. While we were grateful to find a spot that could accommodate our large group on Christmas Day, the food and service didn't particularly impress. Maybe we just caught them on an off day? The eataly location at flatiron is so much better!

Ate at La Pizza and La Pasta on a weekday evening. Although it had a nice view, the ambience felt like an Olive Garden with loads of unruly families and kids. Food wise, the pasta was quite mediocre. We ordered a salad at the beginning that didn't come until after our entrees had been sitting in front of us for 10 minutes.Servers were friendly but they didn't refill water for ages until we specially asked, we also had to ask for Parmesan and black pepper for our pastas. Also, the cocktails were a pitiful size, barely took up half the glass even with a giant ice cube. Honestly this place is terrible value for money.

Went here for lunch and the food was really good. The place threw me off cause when you walk in, it doesn't look like a restaurant at first, it looks more like a supermarket. However when you walk to the back area, that's when you see the restaurant. Nice views of the freedom tower and other surrounding areas of downtown NYC. The staff was great as they had excellent recommendations of food if you are not familiar with their choices on the menu. I had a great time and looking forward to coming back here.
