BBQ Calamari is my main dish, I love it, but the only downside is that it's a bit greasy. But I had a Black Cocoa Tiramisu for dessert. It's much better now, haha.Overall, the taste here is great, this is my second time here. The first time I came here, I didn't use Yelp, so I didn't leave a review for this place.I will come here for the third time in the near future to enjoy the food. Looking forward to the other dishes on the menu.

This restaurant deserves all the buzz and the hype because is AMAZING! I'm getting the hang of having early dinners just for the perk of getting availability. We arrived about half an hour before they opened and we were able to get a table inside. Our server was great, she was knowledgeable and made the best suggestions. We were so excited to be there that honestly I felt we over ordered but that's ok because we got to try so many different dishes. Each one better than the other. Stuffed Garlic Flatbread ($16): Delicious, crunchy on the crust, super cheesy and garlicky just a little bit oily to my liking.Chrysanthemum Salad ($21): Light and perfectly dressed. One of my fav definitely! Crudo ($21): Very fresh and perfectly paired with the acidity of lemon juice. Lasagna for two or maybe 3 ($68): INCREDIBLE! Served with some garlic bread sticks. The lasagna transported me to Italy and I felt like a was having dinner at a nonna's home. Pasta perfectly made, flavorful meat, saucy with some kind of cheese around, I'm guessing is ricotta. One of the best lasagnas I've ever had. Incredible! Whole Roasted Lobster ($135): The surprise of the night! The server suggested it and it's good that we listened. They take the whole lobster out the shell, roasted it in vodka sauce and then re-shelled. It was succulent, so flavorful. It came with a spicy polenta tortelli, which I didn't love. Black Cocoa Tiramisu ($14): Layers of moist chocolate cake, cream, crispy feuilletine and marsala caramel with cocoa powder on top. Rich but at the same time light. The coffee taste was very sublime. Caramelized Pear Sorbetto ($12): Not my favorite but my husband loved it! To wrapped up, I have to say that we had a very pleasant night with amazing food and great service! To me Don Angie lived up to my expectations and beyond. Definitely coming back.

This was truly, no exaggeration, easily in the top 3 best meals of my entire life. Our party of 3 arrived outside just before 4:30pm on a Tuesday, with about 15 people ahead of us. They opened up shortly after to get everyone's name on a waiting list, because there is absolutely no way to get a true reservation. I've literally never seen one available. We put our name in for the bar top seating, went around the corner for a drink while we waited, and ended up getting a text that our seats were ready around 6pm!Ellie our waitress was outstanding. She was professional while also being warm, funny, friendly, and genuine. She told us a little bit about the history of Don Angie and how it was started by a couple who are always at the restaurant, how she absolutely adores them, and how well they treat their staff. That was fantastic to hear for such a well-known, popular, and high end place. She recommended a few apps - stuffed garlic flatbread, chrysanthemum salad, and BBQ calamari. We ended up getting all 3 to start, and every single one of them was better than anything I've ever had of this category. The stuffed garlic flatbread was soooo garlicky, cheesy, and buttery in the most delicious puff pastry-ish dough. The salad was unlike any salad I've had. The lettuce was an amazing texture with a floral note. So so brilliantly unique. Omg the mains.. Our Lasagna for 2 served with amazing crunchy soft garlic bread was everything you would expect. The whole roasted lobster was undoubtedly the star of the show. Gutted, cooked in vodka sauce, then re-shelled. This was one of the most flavorful, decadent, delicious things I have ever tasted and is worth every penny. It also came with a small bowl of lobster meatballs and tortellini in brown butter, AND a slaw style salad. I am basically drooling writing this review and thinking back on the meal. Do anything in your power to dine here, and get everything on the menu!

We were not able to secure a reservation ahead of time so we just tried our luck to walk in. They said they did not have any availability for two hours but they will add you to a waitlist and let you know if anything opens up. We decided to put our name in and as luck would have it someone dropped as soon as we walked out of the restaurant. The host was super cool and ran out of the restaurant to grab us and let us know. We are so glad it worked out because it was worth it! Don Angie is a whole vibe in itself. It was a very cozy restaurant which I liked. Service was really good which I've heard at nice places in NYC this is not always the case. Food was very solid and we throughly enjoyed our experience. Stuffed flatbread - 5/10, thought it was a little too hard and not super flavorfulChrysanthemum salad - 9/10, didn't get a picture we were starving and dug in. It was so fresh and flavorful Lasagna - 9/10, good flavor and love the presentation. Not best lasagna I've ever had but worth trying Tiramisu - 1000/10, best tiramisu I've ever had and I've had a lot. This amazing crunch to it and such a good mix of flavors I'm dying to have it again

We joined the line outside around 4:10 and were able to snag the last two walk in seats at the bar - probably also because it was Jan 1st and most people were home recovering from the night prior. Don Angie is a classic and service (for the most part) matches this - they brought us tea while we were waiting in line and promptly took our orders. However, once the bartender found out we weren't ordering drinks, she seemed to stop checking in on us - we chalked it up to busy-ness. Although we came for lasagna, the Chrysanthemum salad was my favorite dish - it was delicious and perfectly dressed. I would order this over and over again. Lasagna was good as well, not as mind blowing as one would expect but pretty solid and the focaccia that comes on the side is a great highlight. Super buttery and toasted. Overall, a solid meal. Probably not my top 10 in the city but I'd return if a friend wanted to check it out.

I've struggled to find good Italian food over the last few years but Don Angie has ended my search! Absolutely incredible food and a delightful staff. The restaurant itself is tiny and our party was a bit snug in a corner but it didn't even matter. We started with a round of drinks. I got the Margherita which I can't say I was a fan of ONLY because I'm not super into spicy cocktails and I didn't realize it would be while ordering. Replaced it with a Bianco Forte, their version of an old fashioned. It was mild and pleasant! As far as the food goes, everything was a hit aside from the veal. It was a bit too tough and lacked some flavor. Chrysanthemum salad and stuffed garlic flatbread were the perfect pairing to start. Not anything super innovative but top the flatbread with the salad. Just trust me. For our mains (all shareable) we had the lasagna, Japanese sweet potatoes, veal and garganelli giganti. The table favorites were definitely the potatoes and lasagna which also came with a side of bread. Honestly, I think I prefer a pinwheel lasagna over traditional because of Don Angie. While cheesy and full of sauce (not overly sauced!) it held together so well and melted in your mouth. The sweet potatoes were crisp and packed with flavor. We rounded out the meal with the black cocoa tiramisu which was light and sweet. I'm not even a big tiramisu fan but I would definitely recommend this. Would absolutely come back (if I can land a resy lol). Don't forget to grab a matchbook on the way out.

Went here for my birthday two nights ago with a group of 5!! Very difficult resy but if you can grab one you definitely should! It was amazing! We started with the scallop crudo, flatbread, and chrysanthemum salad. All were delicious, the salad was more unique and memorable but the crudo was still delicious. We then all shared mains as well. The veal, lobster (which is served with a ravioli that they make from the lobster claws and a radicchio salad), lasagne, broccolini, and garganelli. Everything was phenomenal. The lasagne is famous for a reason, it is like no other I've ever tasted. Delicious. The lobster was great, I enjoyed the pasta it was served with but not everyone did, the radicchio salad was the worst thing on the table. It just tasted like lemon, no one ate it. The broccolini had cheese on top, so well done. The garganelli was very good but everything else was better in my opinion. The service was great, very efficient and cordial. Will definitely be back if I can get in!

Wouldn't wait a year for their famous lasagna but definitely for the dessert! Upon entering, we waited at the bar as they made sure they sat us exactly at the time of our reservation (not a minute before). We started with the bbq calamari which was too oily and underwhelming, then the chrysanthemum salad which was a perfect lighter dish to follow. We got the famous lasagna, which we honestly could have skipped and finished with the caramelle pasta, which was our fave. They were a sweet candy bow-like pasta with a kumquat reduction! We ended up getting the tiramisu and pear dessert after seeing everyone ordering it and it honestly should be talked about more!! Would definitely not to go out of my way for a reservation again but would pop in for the dessert at the bar!
