De Islands is a decently priced Caribbean restaurant, and if you live in the neighboring area, you're in luck. It's a well-thought-of spot. A spot like this it's just best to eat at home so why bother staying there? Is this best to have it delivered or if you're in a car the lot there's a little shopping center around that area if you are familiar with that area if you could just park your car at the Popeye location or the pawnshop that would be great as well but there's not much scenery. There's nothing scenic about it it's just a place where you could just get chicken to be honest.I tried the jerk chicken meal, which comes with one leg, a rice option, festival, and a drink. I also ordered a side of plantains, which are apparently their number one item--they're really great, with extra jerk sauce on the side for just 50 cents. Additionally, I got macaroni and cheese and the rotini salad. The total for my meal came to about $30, which was enough to feed two of us, me and friend, and we were both very satisfied. The delivery was relatively fast, and everything was handled with care--nothing was spilled or mishandled.I usually dine at home, which I recommend for those who don't feel like preparing food themselves. The great thing about this location is that nothing about it feels cheap, even though the food is affordable, filling, and full of flavors that you'll enjoy. If you're craving hearty, flavorful Caribbean food without breaking the bank, this spot is worth considering.

I had a craving for oxtail, so I found a place on Uber Eats offering a special and decided to order. I got two orders of oxtails with white rice. The rice and meat came in separate containers, and I was surprised that there were no vegetables included with the food. The rice was delicious; it was callaloo rice. The oxtails were okay - they were tender but could have used more seasoning. However, after eating, I started experiencing stomach pain, but I didn't think much of it since it was my first meal of the day at 2 pm. I had some leftovers, so I ate another serving around 8 pm. Unfortunately, my stomach started hurting even more, and by 11 pm, I was very sick. For several hours, I felt like I was in a nightmare. I was confined to my bathroom as everything in my stomach forcefully expelled itself in every direction, resembling a grotesque scene from a horror film.

I normally don't give three stars but this one disappointed me. Let's start off with the service , they are small staffed. The girls don't really know their own menu so be ware of up charges. The ambiance was nicely put together but enough about that. The food which we ordered was oxtail and rice ($27), Two Escovich fish orders - one festival for each fish ($40 both), One Jerk Fish- no side($20), Side if Mac & Cheese ($5), & two drinks ($6 both).About $98 for this. Hoping it was worth it , it wasn't . The oxtails came in a small Chinese soup container, which was clearly not worth almost $30, and the rice was in another same small container. Mostly bones and not much meat non the less (figured). The jerk fish didn't have any real seasoning besides the walker woods jerk seasoning (any real Jamaican can spot that off one taste), so I was not pleased with having to wait 20+ minutes for it when the cashier told me 15. The Escovich fish was basic, and again, there was no real seasoning on it just a lot of pickles (carrots, onion, &vinegar). I refrained from posting pictures of the food because we ate late and didn't have time to take pictures. Sadly, I won't be returning due to I don't my money being wasted again, but if you're in the area just get lunch and see then.

I was always a big fan of this establishment. The food is always on point. Today, my son got me some jerk chicken and rice and beans, and I am not a fan of anything spicy But this here swayed me, and im gonna enjoy it all.

As I writing this review I ask that you becareful of this place. I ordered 2 meals that came with two drinks, I also ordered two sides. When the order came it was missing the 2 sides and the 2 drinks. I called to speak to a Manager, but they were busy so I spoke with someone else, who after hearing my complaint said they would check with the person who packed my order. After 30 seconds they said that they checked the cameras and saw that my order was packed correctly. ATTENTION ALL NEW YORKERS, I KNOW YOU HAVE WORKED RETAIL AT LEAST 1 DAY IN YOUR LIFE, WHAT NON-MANAGER HAS ACCESS TO CAMERAS, THAT CAN CHECK FOOTAGE IN A SPAN OF 10 SECONDS. This happened in the past and this returant usually gives you extra items like "Festivals". A meal comes with 1, I orderes 2 meals, and in this instance I recieved 4. I'm going to report this place on every review website possible to warn people.

Stopped in and had lunch. It was a busy little place. Ordered our food to eat in. It came out in a good amount of time. 2 of us had curry and I had chicken. The other 2 said the curry was good, my jerk chicken was very good and plenty of it. Check the place out.

I have been going here since they opened and the chef has excellent quality control. The food always taste the same, the only reason I have 4 stars is because sometimes the register employees can be a bit rude. And also the price went up super high. But besides that it's a great place to eat and the curry goat is the best!

Shrimp wrap was amazing but in my opinion too small for the price. I wasn't impressed by the fried whiting sandwich... hardly no meat and fried a bit TOO HARD. I'd think about coming back for the shrimp wrap. I believe I got something else but the shrimp wrap was the star of that show.

I have been contemplating on writing this review for some time now but today took the cake and my strong believe is if you see something happening and you choose not to say something, you can actually perpetuate the behavior.Every single one of the female staff that works there is absolutely rude and have no customer service not to mention always have a sore face. Never have I gone in there and saw anyone of them greeting customers or a pleasant face except a sweet older woman that normally is helping to assist in the kitchen area. Lets not also talk about how slow they are.Today I placed an online order and went to pick it up, upon my arrival 20s after I placed the order i still ahd to wait another 7 mins. When I received my order I checked the bag to ensure everything was in the bag that I order because previously 2x my order was missing items. The gravy was missing.. This is how it went.Me: Excuse me, the gravy is missing.Cashier: If there is no gravy in the bag that means we don't have any.Me: Ok so how am I as a customer suppose to know that. May I please have another type of gravy to eat with the white rice.Cashier: Looked at me and turned her back and proceed with the next customer. The kind older woman, obviously know and see her unprofessional behavior got up and dished out my container of the exact gray I originally ordered and brought it to me. My response to her was, you need to teach the rest of them what customer service looks and sound like. I thanked her and left.I completely understand that dealing with the public at times can be frustrating but when you accept to take a job that has to interact with the public it's extremly imperative that you understand what customer service means. Ask to go home if you having a bad day or ask to switch your post for the day. It's very upsetting to support a business that don't value the customer who is keeping the business open. It's going to the day that they will meet up with the right customer who will tell them about their self.
