I have pretty high standards when it comes to Indian food, and I usually prefer local spots over high-end restaurants. This place struck a great balance between both. They offer a solid lunch menu with great prices and plenty of options. We arrived towards the end of lunch service and were disappointed to see most of the lunch options had run out, with only chicken tikka remaining. Thankfully, that's what we were planning to order anyway, but if you're craving something else, I'd recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before the lunch menu ends.I really appreciated the setup during lunch hours. The restaurant feels more like a quick-service spot, where you go to the counter, choose what you want, and they serve it to you directly. This made the whole experience fast, efficient, and gave it a more authentic Indian dining feel. The lunch menu comes with rice, naan, and a choice between vegetarian or meat dishes (you can select multiple items, though prices vary).Once lunch service ended, the area where you pick your food was curtained off, transforming the atmosphere into something more formal, almost like a sit-down restaurant. It was a subtle but effective change that gave the place a completely different vibe, adding to the variety of the experience.

Look, I'm old. How was I supposed to recall that I ordered from Curry Heights 13 years ago, and really didn't like it?Well, I'm glad I didn't, because we just ordered delivery and it was far better than I remembered. I can't tell you about what this place looks like (maybe it's gorgeous inside), but I can tell you that the delivery was quick, and as far as the food: The Manchurian cauliflower was deeply delicious, and had plenty of heat. The ka-chori chaat was literally the most I've ever liked chickpeas. There was plenty of texture and flavor and brightness to contrast the rich and hot rogan josh curry. I prefer the latter over the tikka masala we obviously ordered, and that sauce was not as thin and flavorless as I'd remembered, but quite tasty! The meat samosas and the naan were well done. Also, they have french fries. Nothing makes my kids happy as much as traditional Indian french fries. Overall, an excellent Indian delivery experience. The only downside was that the meats (both the chicken in the tikka masala, and the beef in the rogan josh) were a bit dry. (Also, they have beef? I've only seen this in Indian spots in Texas, where I assume it's the law that they have to have beef available at all times, in all restaurants. It was pretty chewy here though, and I wouldn't order it again. Lamb next time, as it should be. I was just curious.)

I asked for spicy tikka masala and it was not spicy at all and realized when I got home :/. Check your food before you leave in case you have a special request. Also my samosa was not cooked all the way :/ Even though the something's needed improvement the curry was still tasty!

Not sure why this place has less than 5 star.. portions- BEEFY! Even if you don't get beef.I got a chicken curry dish recommended by the cashier and was pleasantly surprised by the serving size. The food came out within minutes of ordering, and the staff was kind and attentive. The ambience seems traditional, I went during the daytime, so there wasn't too many people inside.

Great spot for a quick Indian lunch. Super affordable prices for their express lunch. You can order from their regular menu or you can head to the back of the restaurant and ordered their express lunch, which is what I did. I had the 1 meat and 1 vegetarian option, which comes with rice and naan. For the meat I had chicken vindaloo and I had channa marsala for the veggie option. Options look small but was decently filling. The naan was OK -- could've been more warm. I liked the chicken vindaloo but it tasted a bit different from what I usually taste from other restaurants. The sauce was definitely more on the vinegary side. Only reason I took off a star is because they automatically add tips to your total when you pay -- which is WAY above the standard 16-18%.

Food is good. Service is like those places where you need a owner to be around at all times.

My kid brother came from out of state & we went in Manhattan. It was almost 90 degrees, we were so tired & feeling hungry. So I googled & try to find a desi halal restaurant to eat. When I went inside only thing I liked was the paintings on the wall. The decor was kinda dull, maybe the business isn't good. But they definitely need to renovate & redecorate the restaurant.I was too tired to leave & try another restaurant! So decided to eat anyway. The price was high & the taste wasn't close at all. Me & my brother couldn't even finish our one chicken biryani. I had to bring the other chicken biryani at home. The chicken loly pop was ok.Only thing I liked is the lady who served us. Really nice & helpful. I appreciated her service a lot. Even my kid brother also gave her tip besides me.I hope rest of the food is better then what we tasted. Feeling real bad saying all this, maybe others will like it.For an Indian Halal restaurant, there was not much flavor. Probably the Chef will hate me after this, maybe I should remove my pictures from the reviewBut it is what it is!I was dissatisfied! My brother did mentioned that he liked the mango lassi. That's a plus point

This is one of a few Indian places in the area. A lot of reviews appear to be be complaining here about service charges or some other stuff not even related to the food so the average here is probably a bit higher. Compared to most, they are more low-key with a good lunch special and a good dinner special for the area. Said dinner special for $22 comes with an appetizer, a main dish, a naan, and basmati rice. I got a sweet lassi to drink and it was fine. Less thick than some other spots but still tasty. My appetizer was the banana pakora. It came with 4 very large pieces and the banana inside was ripe and sweet so it was closer to a dessert and could likely be moved there without batting an eye outside of the mint chutney it came with. Someone had a Mulligatawny soup which was solid. The last person had one of the chaats I believe which was alright. My main dish was the crab curry which was surprisingly part of the special. I ordered it spicy and it was indeed spicy and good. Someone else got I believe a fish dish which I remember liking. The last person had tandoori chicken which was fine but not as good as Indian Table or Mint Heights. As my naan, I got the keema naan and it was hot and had a good amount of minced lamb though said lamb could have been more flavored. I tried the garlic naan which was tasty. The food here is a bit lower quality than at either Mint Heights or Indian Table but it's hard to argue with the lunch or dinner special here. They remind me of some of the hole in the walls in Murray Hill especially with the lunch special which reminds me heavily of Haandi. I wouldn't expect mind-blowing Indian food here but you get what you pay for here and some. Will be back for the lunch special. Mid 3.
