Croton Reservoir Tavern

It was my second time trying these place. We failed to get to the lower bar for happy hour again because there was an event. Our server was nice. The food was ok. I liked the cocktails, but they can be pricy. I tried the Have a Good Day with bourbon, but it was refreshing. The location is convenient since it's right by Bryant Park.

Sat at the bar and the waiter made a bunch of good suggestions. I had the tomato bisque and the brisket tacos even though he recommended the sandwich but unfortunately both were terrible. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich and did not like it at all. So after a long day of traveling unfortunately we are still hungry.

Good cocktails and pub food on the edge of Times Square. The cocktails are creative. Burgers, flatbreads and similar dominate the menu, although there are more structured plates available. Sometimes the room can be crowded. The staff was attentive.

Adorable side block Tavern that offers quick or full bite--lunch and dinner.Had an important errand to run and due to the quaint and quietness in place, I decided to take a load off my feet.The menu had standard pub fare from burgers and salads to main courses.Upon this first time visit, it was a quick bite having one of my favorite foods--Shishito Peppers.Unbeknownst to me, there were two pprtion sizes--a shareable or a side. I really wanted the side but was served the larger portion. Fear not, I ate the entire plate. They were charred, blistered and salted. Translation= delicious.The iced tea (with free refills) was the perfect accompaniment.This Tavern claims the Aperol Spritz to be one of their signature drinks so I'll have to believe them and try the next time I visit.

Came here for dinner after grabbing some work drinks and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! We were looking for a restaurant in midtown around 8:00 for dinner because we didn't have a reservation and stumbled on this place which had some open tables! The food is good but looks like people mostly come for drinks and it definitely has a midtown, corporate happy hour vibe Food: we got the hummus to share which was really good! It came with hot pita which was delicious. They have a lot of hummus! For my main I ordered the croton crunch and it was a delicious crispy chicken sandwich that had a good spice to it! It comes with a salad which was goodDrinks: they had a peanut butter whisky which was so interesting! It smelled good and did have a peanut butter taste, I was surprised at how much I liked it given that I don't like whiskeyAmbience: very much a midtown bar vibe! It's large with good amount of open spaceService: fast service! Price: for what it was, I think it was pricy but I think location probably adds to the price.

I like this place for the laid back vibe in the middle of time square. Good to catch up with drinks and food before a show, a game and a night out. Most of the items are delivered to expectation. The cast iron shrimp was truly disappointing. The portion offered was pathetic for $21. Salmon, crab cake and Brussel sprouts were all flavorful. It's a short 4 but I like the simplicity of this pub.

Great ambiance, great food choices and overall experience.The flatbread was crispy on the edges and moist in the middle. It had brie, arugula and warm honey...nice combination. The wings were delicious as well.They have a happy hour from 4:30-7pm (Tues-Friday) in their downstairs lounge. Check it out next time you are in the area.

Don't make a reservation! They will tell you they didn't know about it and they decided to close at 5pm on New Year's weekend in NY? After they texted AND confirmed. These poor business practices are probably why they didn't make any money today. Avoid

Tried Crotons after getting a recommendation from a friend after visiting the Christmas shops at Bryant Park. Restaurant located just off the park offering bar service with both high top and regular table services.Elected to sit at the bar ( to watch a football game) and we were warmly greeted by the bar woman but she explained she'd be back in a few as it was very busy this Sunday.And she was right. Getting drinks and placing orders were a challenge but more on that later.The food ( classic pub food) was delicious. We ordered the skillet nachos, crispy Brussels, and after waiting till it hit 3pm were allowed to them order the beef sliders. All three I'd highly recommend.Our main courses; beer belly pulled pork sandwich , chicken wrap sandwich and crunch chicken sandwich's were outstanding.Restaurant has run out earlier of the croton Pilsner beer and beef brisket but pulled pork was a good substitute.The overall service was good considering the staff was woefully understaffed for a Sunday afternoon that was across from Bryant Park packed with shoppers and in the theater district to boot. Restaurant management should have taken that into consideration. Being from a retail management background one could always reduce staff coverage if business dictates but to assume it won't be busy they grossly misjudged and risked future business.That said our bar woman QQ did a fantastic job covering the entire bar ( sits at least 25 folks) as well as making table service order drinks.Even the kitchen staff assisted to serving food orders.It wasn't until 5 pm that additional staff ( counted 3) showed up.Overall nicely laid out restaurant, great food and specialty drinks along with pleasant and customer service oriented staff but again woefully understaffed for the holiday season.

This place is great. The wings are great. Aldo and Jessica took care of us all night with great cocktails. Would definitely come back when in the area.
