Congee Village is popular, you'll usually have to wait a while for a table and make sure all your party members are there before they will seat you. Food is comforting and tasty. The portions are huge too - every time I've visited with a large group we always end up with leftovers. My favorite dishes are the lobster sticky rice, eggplant and mushroom, and salt and pepper squid. They serve tea, water, sodas and alcoholic beverages including beers, wines, and cocktails.

I've really really REALLY loved this place, but I'm so sad to say this past experience, and the past several were just very disappointing. Food on "sizzling platter" came out cold. Had to separately ask for rice for meal, and it didn't come until AFTER the meal. Things came in total random order, when we were not sharing. All the mixed seafood dishes came out 90% squid. Congee totally bland and basically topped with toppings, vs cooked in. There's nothing more sad than food labeled "sizzling platter" on a freezing winter day, and it coming out cold. And no rice to boot. Drinks didn't come till after the meal. Party next to us SO INSANELY LOUD we could not hear a thing.

We stopped by Congee village for a quick bite. While the food portions are good, the service felt rushed and not great. We ordered the snow pea leafs with mushrooms, and the sizzling beef ribs with peppers. The snow pea veggie dish was great, portion was huge and flavor was not salty, which I was so glad about. The sizzling beef had good flavor however many of the pieces were mainly bones without any meat. Overall, portions are large, prices are on par with family style portions. Service is lacking.

Congee Village was really good - just some classic Chinese dishes that appeal to everyone. This place is very big and obviously a fan favorite for birthdays (which we were there for too). The lazy Susan was just a tad bit wobbly but all the dishes came out pretty fast and tasted really good! My favorites were the walnut shrimp, the lamb chops, and the beef with asparagus.

Congee Village has such a comforting vibe--it's the perfect spot for a cozy meal. Their menu offers a ton of options, but the congee is the real standout, especially if you're looking for something soothing (like after dental surgery). It's flavorful, warm, and feels like a hug in a bowl.I gave it a 4 stars because of the service, not the food. The only downside is that it can get pretty busy. Be prepared to wait about 20 minutes and possibly share a table, but honestly, it's worth it for the food and atmosphere. Definitely a go-to spot for some solid comfort food!

Food (5/5): Writing an updated review for this place. The restaurant is still very good in terms of food. We ordered the honey walnut shrimp. My favorites are probably the honey walnut shrimp because it's so flavorful and nicely crispy; the deep fried pork chop was also very delicious with tender pork meat.Service (4/5): Service is decent. They could check up more often and be friendlier but the food comes out at a good pace and they get it done. We had a bit of a difficult time getting the servers attention to refill drinks and get rice sometimes.Ambiance (5/5): Really nice ambiance inside the restaurant with tons of space and classic Chinese decorations everywhere. The walls are nicely adorned and the lights are well themed. There are also nice portraits and plenty of round tables with tables that roll.

Anyone who's grown up nearby knows that this is the restaurant a lot of the older Chinese people take us to when they want to celebrate an occasion, whether that's a birthday, graduation, or just a family gathering. It's quintessentially Chinese, from the decor, to the chairs, to the super long menu with A TON of options, it's exactly the feeling that many of us grew up with at restaurants like these. You can choose from an array of dishes that cater to whatever you want, and all of them are pretty damn tasty. This time, I was here for a birthday and we ordered an array of things including Shrimp Fried Rice, Pan Fried Salt n Pepper Lamb Chops, Peking Style Pork Chops, Honey Walnut Shrimp, and Chilean Sea Bass. Shrimp Fried Rice- standard and good padding for the rest of the meal. I did wish that it had a lil more salt to it but no biggie.Lamb Chops- a pretty standard way to make em, but done super well. A ton of flavor, gaminess, and soft n chewy with a ton of juiciness.Peking Style Pork Chops- probably my favorite dish from these restaurants. There's just something so sweet and savory and delicious about this dish. Also, it's very cool to see how American Chinese takeout adapted recipes from dishes like this for the American consumer when the sauce is not too dissimilar from one used for General Tso's.Honey Walnut Shrimp- I love how big and plump these are. They go great with the candied walnuts, though I'd love to trade that excess broccoli for more shrimp lol.Chilean Sea Bass-cooked well and flaky. Not really my thing but still executed well. After you're stuffed, they give you the check with a quintessential plate of sliced oranges, the "dessert" to end off all meals at Chinese restaurants. Overall, I enjoy the dishes, the staff is relatively personable and easy to talk to ( though you do have to get their attention) , and the location is great. I'll be back I'm sure when another occasion pops up again.

The service at Congee Village was 5/5 and I have to give high praise to the staff. The reservation a friend placed was originally for a party of 12, but grew to be a party of 16, after a lit birthday party the night before that probably led to overeagerness of extending invitations. We had a private room booked which also had a karaoke set and tv, which was a lot of fun, and had us staying more than 3 hours at the restaurant! The staff was so helpful, and while they could probably have just kicked us out or limited the number of diners in our party, they brought it extra chairs and plates to the room, and even suggested other options (such as setting up tables on the stage in the upstairs room lol).It is definitely a fun time and I recommend if you ever dine with a large party to book one of the private karaoke rooms! (Tip: know mandarin to know how to navigate the karaoke machine...)The group I dined with ordered a LOT of food.We had a slow start; I don't know if there was a difference between "appetizers" and non appetizers, but these were the dishes that were part of the first round: Three-style platter (cold preserved egg, cucumber, Thai claw) - this is a good starter for a big group. Geoduck Sashimi - good, but not the best sashimi I've had. It was tougher than other fish sashimi I've had so it wasn't too appealing to me.Fried geoduck clam with Salt & Pepper Fried Squid with Salt & Pepper - both of the fried seafood with salt and pepper was good; pretty good seasoning that majority of folks will like, but the squid was stringy (you know when you have that one long strand that you can't bite off!)Pan Fried Tofu - if you needed a vegetarian dish it can be a good add to the table, but honestly you can make this at home and it doesn't come with many pieces. Then all the dishes starting coming out right after another... BAM BAM BAM!! I'm going to group these based on type and just write my faves...Seafood Dishes-Jumbo Shrimp w Walnut and Broccoli-Sautéed Lobster with Sticky Rice-Geoduck (apparently this is a limited item and you need to order in advance...this was my first time eating this so perhaps I was just not used to it but I was not a fan of this. It's also so pricey so unless you love this, no need to go for it).-Scallop with shell-Steamed Thai BassMy favorites were the shrimp w walnut and broccoli + Steamed Thai bass (was the name on the receipt, I think it was just the steamed fish of the day with Scallions). Both were crowd favorites. The lobster with sticky rice is special but it seemed like a lot of trouble to get the meat out of each lobster piece + difficult to scoop the rice since it hides in the crevices of the dish. There was actually quite a bit left over bc of the difficulty to eat. The MeatsHouse Baked ChickenPan Fried Lamb ChopsSweet n Sour PorkShort Rib with Brown Sauce on Sizzling Hot PlateAll were quite good. Lot of good sauces on the above meat dishes.VeggiesEggplant with Garlic SauceSautéed String Bean with GarlicSautéed Snow PeasAll veggie dishes were solid and big portions.Apparently people were expecting this soup to come out much earlier but instead they brought out the Simmered Ginseng and Chicken Soup at the very end. It is a bitter soup (like not in a sweet and sour soup way- it is ACTUALLY bitter), but it was a great palate cleanser.Pretty solid food all around but perhaps next time I'll stick to the simple dishes I l know and love. If you're interested, all of those dishes for 16 of us cost us over $100 pp. Not surprising, as it's a lot of food. As I mentioned in the beginning, Congee Village had excellent service which left quite a good impression on me!

Congee village really hits the spot on a cold winter day! Came here for a team event and the ambiance was lively with fast service. My favorite dishes were the lobster (so juicy and flavorful), fish, and the congee was also a hit! Great place to come with a group, as the restaurant delivers massive portions and also free dessert :)

Delicious food, big portions and good for groups. We got:- salt and pepper fried squid: very crispy, and tender squid. Love the lighter breading here. Squid can tend to be tough but not the ones here. - Peking pork chop: fried, bone-in pork chops in a sweet and sour sauce. Also very good!- beef chow mien: noodles with tender pieces of beef, gai lan, slathered in a thick, brown sauce. I recommend eating it fresh at the restaurant as the noodles comes crispy. After it is mixed in with gravy, it changes texture to your more typical soft noodles. Still delicious either way! The dishes here goes for around $18-25, which can sound pricey at first but it feeds at least 2. Service was good when I visited on a Sunday lunch, and it wasn't too crowded. Wait was just 5-10 mins.
