Came here a little before 6pm on a weekday with a friend. Put our name for the waitlist, but ended up actually being seated after only waiting like five minutes. It took a while for a waiter to acknowledge us and take our order, but service was pretty attentive afterwards. My friend and I ordered:- Shrimp Pancake: Very plentiful on shrimp. I do wish it was a bit crispier on the batter, but overall enjoyed the flavors.- Cod Roe Omelet: Really yummy with the green tea mayo. A very fancy version of your standard gyeran-mari banchan with the cod roe.- Hwangtae Tofu Stew: The dried pollock was interest. This felt like a very clean, hearty dish. If you were expecting a flavor explosion, would probably pick something else, but this definitely hits the spot on a cold day.- Kimchi soybean curd stew: Very tangy/funky with the kimchi and soybean curd. I dug it a lot, but it may not be for everyone. The soybean curd itself can be a bit grainy which I'm not sure everyone will enjoy the texture. My friend also ordered the makgeolli which I had a sip of. It had a nice, clean sweetness to it.Overall, I quite enjoyed CDG. There were a couple tiny things that I would've liked different from the food, particularly the shrimp pancake, but I could best describe the food at this place as "clean and hearty". It will definitely fill you up, but you'll walk out not feeling bloated. The space itself is quite cramped and small and there was a pretty big line outside by the time we left. I'm not sure given the price and other options in K-Town area that I'd want to wait much longer than 20min, but overall it this was a solid spot that has been on my list for a while. I'd definitely come back for an early weeknight dinner.

we arrived around 1pm for lunch time, and it took about 20-30 minutes for us to get seated. the service was fast, and the staff were friendly. we ordered the:- spicy pollack: my favorite dish we ordered. i liked that the fish was crispy and flavorful - cdg spicy chicken: this dish was okay, nothing special. - spicy kimchi tofu stew: this was good, i thought the soup lacked some depth in the flavor, and i wasn't the biggest fan of the tofu texture (though this is what cho dang gol is known for, so maybe it's just personal preference)- perilla seed tofu stew: i haven't had this before so i thought we'd try it, but i didn't really like it. the soups came with rice in a big bowl, but i also wasn't a big fan of the texture of the rice. overall i think we might've just not ordered the right things and my preferences for korean food are different.

The tofu stew was the perfect thing to enjoy on a cold night. I wish I could recreate that broth. However, it's a big turn off when the wait time is that long. I give them credit for having a waitlist that you can join and receive a text notification when your table is ready. What I didn't appreciate though is that you only have 10 min once you get that text, and I was constantly receiving texts towards the end of that 10 min period with the very real possibility that the table would be given away. This is fine on a day when it's not snowing outside and it's not a hazard to run on the snow frosted sidewalk. It's not realistic to expect customers to wait in the cold outside to avoid this scenario. We barely made it thankfully.

I have really high standards for Korean food and a lot of places I've tried in NY Ktown haven't really met that. But this restaurant is worth all the hype. Great handmade tofu. The pork is so tender. We got there as soon as it opened for a party of 5 on a wkday and waited 20 minutes max. Loved it, and will be back.

10/10, may be my favorite restaurant in ktown. I went on a Saturday afternoon around 430 and waited for 25 minutes. Worth the wait! We got the cod roe omelette, seafood pancake, eggplant rice, oyster tofu soup, and spicy seafood tofu soup. They were all solid dishes, would order every single one of them again. Service was also super solid, they refilled our side dishes without us even asking! Bonus points for the super cozy decor, felt like I was in Korea. So happy to have finally tried this place!

Yummy tofu. Wow!The wait was quick to join the list and it's easy to spend some time walking around browsing before you know it, your table is ready txt sending to your phone. We wanted to try something simple so we had the bossom (boiled pork belly w sweet kimchi) and spicy stir fried pork with fresh tofu. Let me telll youuuu, the sidedishes radish kimchi was deliciousss, and so were the sticky lotus root, the garlic veggies, and bean curd cabbage. The tofu sidedish was saucy and spicy but super refreshing with the soft radish. The spicy pork was satisfyingly tongue coating spicy but not overwhelming at all. The radish kimchi was spicy but enjoyable as well. The tofu was the main show, its texture is like if a yummy thick flan was tofu, it would be it. Also you know I love a thick flan soo...Staff was friendly but quick service as well. Organized too. Barley tea was warming. Bustling environment and actually very loud.

Even though there's always a very long, wait, it's worth it. We went in the winter and waited outside in the cold. Once we were in the hostess was very kind to seat our party of 8. Get the makgeolli! We tried the chestnut one and it was delicious. The dishes are very good too. The perilla seed noodle was interesting and very umami.

A buzzy but no-frills Korean soup spot serving some of the city's best tofu soup and tofu-based banchan! They don't take reservations and the wait can be crazy, so put your name down on their virtual list (inside on the screen by the door), and then be prepared to wait it out in ktown or herald square area. They'll text you when your table is ready. Service is speedy and the food comes out hot and fast. My favorite thing here is all the banchan particularly the fresh tofu one. All their soups are delicious, but the beef in the kimchi soondubu is super soft and tender so that might be my fave. I've also heard the cod roe omelette is incredible from a friend, so I'll have to try that next!
