It's really spicy. Friends who like spicy food can try it.Jeeb Pu Siew MaiIt's quite similar to Chinese siew mai. It's filled with crab meat, shrimp and pork.Crab CurryCrab meat, soft shell crab with curry. It has a coconut flavor and is super spicy.Goong Karee Yellow Curry ShrimpFinally a dish that's not spicy. The shrimp is quite tender. Add eggs, curry, and some garlic, onions and other seasonings. The taste is quite similar to Goong Karee in other Thai restaurants.Mee Pum Riang Thai Fried Rice NoodlesVery thin rice noodles. The taste is different from the fried rice noodles in other restaurants. It may be because of the coconut curry cream. It's more viscous and spicy

My favorite spot for Southern Thai food in Manhattan. My partner and I were early fans of Chalong, and we've noticed significant improvements in both the food and service. We're especially drawn to their crab curry, steamed fish, and Southern sator curry dish. The cocktails here are also well-crafted, with plenty of creativity and sophistication. The one thing I selfishly wish for, as a Thai person, is for the flavors to be bolder and more daring--not necessarily in terms of heat, but in the punchiness of spices and herbs, with less emphasis on sugar for that extra wowza. Right now, it feels a bit too safe and catered to farang. That being said, I can't wait for my next visit!

We arrived around 12:30 on a Saturday expecting a crowd given how much we hear about this place. There was no wait and the service was able to immediately seat a party of 4 for lunch no reservation. The order we made was based on recommendation we say from other yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. The waiters were nice and provided advice (and also removed cilantro when requested). We only ordered one appetizer and those were the shrimp tacos. That was fantastic. They had a nice curry flavor that was delightful. My favorite item of the day by far.As for the main courses, we had a bit of everything and enjoyed family style. The crab curry and goat curry were my personal favorites. I feel like most Thai restaurants opt in for a sweeter curry taste but neither of these were particularly sweet and I was surprisingly a big fan. The roti served with the goat curry was nice and soft. The crab curry was also quite spicy for be prepared. The shrimp fried rice was a bit disappointing. However the pork belly was my favorite main course of the day. Nice chewy and with candied jalapeños to give it a subtlety sweet taste. Great and filling meal. I would definitely be coming back for more of those tacos. The store itself is a bit small and our chairs were very low to ground. Food came out relatively fast. It is also on the pricier end of Thai restaurants so keep that in mind.

The atmosphere is great and servers are very attentive. Keep in mind that the portions are quite small, like the size of your hand. However, the flavor is unmatched and authentic! Each dish we ordered came with a bowl of rice, which was nice. We ordered family-style to try their popular dishes. I would recommend overall!

This meal brought me back to Thailand. I've been to Thailand several times and this meal was incredibly authentic tasting. I asked for their greatest hits and had the following:Baerng Golae which were delicious tacos with coconut crisp and grilled shrimp. Free chicken wings were delightful. For the flats they remove one of the bones so it eats more like a drum. Considerate and extra thoughtful especially considering that it was freeCrab curry with rice is spicy and amazing. Great flavours and lots of crab chunks along with a fried soft shell crab. This is Thai spicy so be careful as western spicy is laughable. Moo hong was great. Pork belly tasted like a sweeter version of the chinese braised pork belly. Get rice to eat the sauce with this. Thai milk tea was excellentOverall great meal and one of the best Thai restaurants I've been to outside of Thailand.

Wow! My dinner at Cha Long exceeded my expectations. We had a reservation and were seated promptly at our reserved time. We got the Green Curry, Steamed Fish, and the Lumpu Salad. The Green Curry was a definite miss -- it felt a bit too sweet and was not spicy at all. The Steamed Fish though we both thoroughly enjoyed -- the broth was tangy, spicy, and definitely hit the spot! If you are fan of citrus flavors this is a must get! The Lumpu Salad was amazing as well; it was very refreshing and loved all the flavors in this dish.Honestly the only thing about the restaurant was the price and portion ratio -- we thought the portions were pretty small compared to their relatively high prices. Loved the Steamed Fish though so will be back for that!

Had a good time here for a New Year's Eve dinner. The inside is beautiful, service was very attentive, and we were able to get a reservation on pretty short notice which was appreciated. We ordered the Baerng Golae for apps which was grilled shrimp in a delicate coconut crisp taco with sauce. The flavor was good but I will say that it seemed to lack a tiny bit of salt.We then got the chef's special the Ped Aob Woonsen which is a duck leg with glass noodles. Don't expect anything too saucy or robust or soup-like. The flavor on the noodles was fantastic but I thought the duck was just okay and a little bit dry. With the way the item was described on the menu, I was expecting a much bigger dish.Lastly we had the garlic ribs which were fall off the bone tender with a side of rice. The ribs were high up on the list for me but they did just taste like garlic ribs. All in all, this food was good but at the price point and with how nice the restaurant was I didn't think it was anything special. I would say that I've had food at small hole in the wall restaurants that was better or at least just as good. Other than the glass noodles, the flavor combinations here were tasty but nothing too unique. We spent $90 on a meal that really was worth about $50. If the price point was lower, I would give this place 4 stars.

Incredible Thai restaurant!! The food, service, and atmosphere all made a lasting impression. Very friendly staff and the place looked so classy. We loved everything we ordered! We highly recommend the wings, shrimp golae, crab fried rice, green curry and the pandan cocktail. It was the perfect meal. Can't wait to go back again!
