First time trying Chai Thai Kitchen as it was recommended to me:Food: food is really good; they listen to instructions for preparation of meal. I strongly recommend the crisp duck, crisp Thai wings with the sauce on side, the sizzling pork shoulder, and the sweet corn fritter OMG delicious. Food is 4.5.Service: the service was good average but not great. The only reason is due to the fact it's only one server on each of the two floors. It's a Saturday night in NYC around the theater district so it's a strong flow of traffic. The server did manage her best would be 4/5 service.Ambiance: I love the intimate setting, low lights, soft music, chill feeling. The resturant is very cozy and provides a calm tone. It's two floor and spacious enough.Overall rating is 4.5.

Visited this spot for quick easy lunch with colleagues. The place isn't fancy inside, has a small seating space and an upstairs that was closed for lunch time. We ordered the chicken satay and the spring rolls for appetizers, and I got the tofu khi mao lunch special (comes with either a side salad or a veggie egg roll). The egg roll was tasty but was pretty small. The khi mao was super flavorful and tasty, fairly spicy too as I asked for it to be on the spicier side. For the appetizers, the chicken satay was yummy, but the spring rolls fell a bit short for me in flavor (only filled with raw veggies) and also presentation as the rolls simply fell apart as they are cut into so many pieces. I would give this place 4 stars, but the appetizers did not come out until nearly 10 minutes after everyone had already finished our lunch entrees, which was bad service. Chai Thai overall was fine, tasty. But there are lots of other Thai places in the area that are very delicious, so unless I'm in a pinch, I probably won't be stopping by again.

Chai Thai Kitchen on the Upper West Side is a cozy spot that delivers authentic Thai flavors in a laid-back setting. The restaurant impresses with its flavorful dishes, friendly service, and reasonable prices, making it a favorite for both locals and visitors craving Thai cuisine. The menu features a variety of classic Thai meals, all made with fresh ingredients and powerful tastes. One of the standouts is the Pad Thai, a classic done correctly, with wonderfully cooked noodles, a balanced sweet and sour sauce, and a substantial serving of delicate shrimp or chicken. The Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao) are another standout, with a deep, spicy kick and aromatic basil taste that will satisfy those who enjoy a bit of spice. For appetizers, I really enjoy the Crispy Spring Rolls and Chicken Satay which are super tasty! The spring rolls are light and crunchy, with a sweet and tangy dipping sauce, and the satay is delicious, topped with a rich, creamy peanut sauce. Chai Thai Kitchen also serves a variety of curries, ranging from the mild and creamy Massaman Curry to the hot Green Curry, all having a distinct depth of flavor and a good mix of spice and coconut milk. The portions are generous, providing excellent value for your money. The staff is responsive and courteous, however the restaurant can get busy, which may result in somewhat longer wait times. However, the staff is kind and knowledgeable about the menu, frequently recommending items based on individual tastes. Overall, Chai Thai Kitchen provides a comfortable and authentic Thai eating experience in a relaxing setting, with flavorful dishes tailored to a variety of spice levels. It's an excellent choice for a casual meal or takeout on the Upper West Side.

My friends and I came here for dinner the other night because all of us have walked by Chai Thai Kitchen many times and now we all wanted to try them out. The interior was decorative with a welcoming atmosphere. Two floors of dinner space, downstairs good for people watching on busy 8th Avenue, or where our party of 5 was seated upstairs with a more intimate and quiet atmosphere. For my dinner choice, I opted for the BBQ Beef. This was a small dish not really big for sharing. This was served with a side of rice. The taste was simple and the beef was nicely tender. We all shared Spring Rolls, Corn Fritters and Summer Rolls. These were satisfyingly, crispy, fresh and piping hot. The summer rolls were a lovely fresh and crunchy element. It came with fresh vegetables along with a tasty peanut sauce. I also decided to go with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. My friends ordered Pad Thai, Chicken Red Curry, Sizzling Grilled Pork and Pad Sea Eiw. Again, these dishes are small in size not really big enough for sharing. Service was decent. Our waitress was friendly and our food came out in a timely manner. However, there are so many Thai restaurants in the city it's difficult to decide which is the best place for Thai food. In fairness, they are definitely affordable, convenient, and if I do return, I will try out other dishes.

I ordered the green curry with chicken lunch special, including a spring roll. The service was very professional and rather quick, and I liked the food and thought that the lunch deal was of good value. This served as my brunch after a particularly hectic night, so I was glad to find this restaurant and happy that the curry came medium spicy with enough flavor to be passable though I had forgotten to ask for it made extra spicy, as I usually do.I witnessed another customer return her curry, saying it was too spicy for her, and I really don't know what she was talking about, plus I don't know how they could have further stripped it of flavor. I thought their regular recipe was very good and well balanced without having too much of a kick.

Food: 5/5Very flavorful for the price points, since this is located in Manhattan. Service: 5/5Fast, reliable, nice. Ambiance: 4/5Solid. Though, this restaurant is quite small. There are two floors, but it's a very small space. The lighting was dim and quite comforting.

I decided to check out this restaurant the other day for a late dinner. The seating area when you walk in seems to be small and the tables are pretty close to one another. I saw a staircase but I'm wondering if that's only for private parties with more seating. It seemed to be closed though. I ordered a chicken pad Thai but was disappointed. The portion was good but just it was a bit salty. I ate it all only because I was super hungry. My friend ordered a spicy basil fried rice but said it wasn't that great either.
