"This is my most-visited NY restaurant by a wide margin. I haven't reviewed it for fear of bringing attention to it. I can almost always get a table without a reservation. I believe this is due to the popularity of a serviceable, but hip Vietnamese option nearby.This is the best Banh Mi I have had. I keep trying others, but the bread here is unmatched. I'm told they get it fresh from a bakery in Brooklyn. The spiced pork sausage they use is also perfect. The pho can b from exceptional to greatest of all time. I love this place with all my heart.Almost forgot the rolls! The cha gio are THE BEST. Not just saying that. They are the best in existence (US)."

"I made an Ubereats delivery since I was craving some heartwarming pho on a cold, chilly night. The order was well packaged and prepared in a timely manner. I ordered the 5 Spice Special Pho ($22), 6 pcs Rooster Wings ($13), and Summer Rolls ($12). While a bit pricey, the pho did includes lots of toppings and ingredients. The special had a variety of meats like sliced raw angus round eye, sliced angus brisket, braised boneless beef ribs, and Vietnamese beef balls. The broth is flavorful and it was a delicious bowl of pho. I also enjoyed the wings, which were crispy and covered in a garlic chili dressing. The summer rolls were also fresh, but the rice paper was on the thicker side.Overall, my meal here was delicious and definitely satisfied my Vietnamese cravings. It is on the pricey side though."

"A super cute bakery! There's not much seating, just a small bench in the front corner and two tables, maybe fits 4-5 people? Delicious coffee and bakery! I asked the cashier and it's a chain from Vietnam! The coffee is very strong Vietnamese coffee and with the Pandan cream foam, super flavorful cream!I got the coconut Pandan sticky rice and holy- it's has such flavorful coconut cream and the sticky rice was so flavorful! It is pretty pricey, $16 for it but shared between two people it's very filling and worth it :)"

"On a packed Saturday night, definitely make a reservation! This restaurant is a good choice for the viet/thai fusion restaurant. The waiter here was extremely attentive and patient with my large party of 10. They serve food as it is done being prepared, so dishes may come in waves. The lower rating for me comes from the fact that the entrees were just not great tasting. I personally ordered the pho, and it fell a bit flat on flavor, even though the portion was quite generous for its price point. The matcha ice cream is a little overpriced, but what isn't in the city... it is truly delicious though! Their mango sticky rice is the perfect combination of tart chunks of mango, refreshing mango sorbet, and chewy sticky rice. I just wish the portion was bigger. If anything, this is a great place to grab pre-dinner drinks instead, as their signature cocktails looked spectacular! I'll be back to try them and let yall know how it goes."

"I really like Mekong as a neighborhood restaurant and usually go here around once a month. They have some really good vegan options and their cocktails are really good and use Vietnamese liquors, which is unusual. The inside has good mood lighting and the space is open and there are always tables available.My main complaint is the fish tank. I hope they read this and add some items to give those poor fish a better life. The tank is completely empty, and they just float around with no enrichment whatsoever. It's hella depressing. Please invest like $20 and give these fish some stuff to do."

The quality of the sandwiches was good - lots of filling, fresh vegetables and meats, nice texture to the bread - and prices were very reasonable. The meat had a little less flavor than some other places I've ordered from before, but I would still get either sandwich again.I ordered the fried spring rolls expecting them to be cha gio, but they tasted like the vegetable spring rolls you'd get at any Chinese takeout place instead, which was a little disappointing. I would skip those on any future order.Overall, the banh mi was good. I like some other places nearby better, but I would get them again. I would sub something else for the spring rolls though."

"This is one of the best beef pho soups I've had in the city. They don't give hoisin sauce or anything in traditional Vietnamese restaurants but that's totally okay because the beef broth was so flavorful it stood on its own. The meat was also tender and not dry which I liked. The noodles are thicker than what I've gotten in other pho soups but they work. It's a big portion and it's def big enough to share. The staff was also very friendly. Perfect for winter!"

"When we first started visiting a few years ago, this place was styled more as a "food hall" with a few different restaurants serving food, though we always ordered Vietnamese food anyway every time - we popped in this weekend and noticed the far back section that used to be a sushi bar has been replaced with some lovely seating arrangements, and the front area has been built out with these lovely wooden roofs. It makes the place feel so lovely and comforting.We had our yummy chicken banh mi, along with some veg gyoza which were both delicious, as usual! Solid drink options - alcoholic and non-alcoholic. What makes this place extra great also are the kind servers and their attention to detail, as well as the beautiful setting of the restaurant itself and their backyard.I hesitate to even review this place and share ut because it is so tranquil and peaceful while we are there and I don't want it overrun with people. Lol. But this place deserves all the business they can get! So here is my review. They are a hidden gem on Bedford Ave."

"Obao is an excellent Vietnamese and Thai restaurant, if you're near Midtown Manhattan. They do take walk-ins, but due to space, I'd suggest making reservations (especially on a Friday night). Wonderful food served quickly. They put their own twist on the dishes. Favorites starters were the crispy spring rolls and the dumplings. Favorite main dishes include the crab fried rice and the shrimp fried rice. I ate at the 9th avenue location. Had several wheelchair guests in attendance. Space was tight toward the entrance, but the staff was accommodating and moved furniture to serve everyone nicely."

Very comfortable seating & great service.Came in for a weekend show (Hades Town is across the street) and the reviews were great. The An'nam restaurant is equal in quality. Started with the Red Dragon sushi roll, and was it GOOD! We had appletinis from the full bar, and they were great too! I had the beef chow fun, which was perfection. Wife had cashew chicken, which I tried, and was very good. Teen got a bento box, and it was amazing! Shrimp Teriyaki, chicken karage, fried Shrimp shumai and a california roll with white rice. I could have eaten two full orders of shrimp fried dumpling/shumai alone! It was just that awesome!!!We also wanted a side of pan fried sugar snap peas, and a whole order came- but they were fabulous!!! We kept them, snd it was worth it. Servers were all nice & helpful, and we felt appreciated. The decor was nice, and it was fairly quiet. So low noise.Definitely want to go back again! This is a keeper, and in my top twenty restaurants of all time. YOU SHOULD GO!"

The food arrived without the Hoisin sauce. I'm deeply disappointed, because if I was in the restaurant I wouldn't specifically have to ask for the Hoisin sauce, why would I expect differently online? I believed it was included with the entree.I called the restaurant after I received the delivery and expressed my disappointment. They explained that the Hoisin sauce is not included in online orders, if you don't ask for it. The customer service and concern was minimal at best. They offered an apology but, absolutely nothing for my inconvenience.The food was bland, not what I expected at all.This is my first time ordering from them and definitely my last. Love love love the decor -- feels very sultry and elegant and we were seated by the window, which gave us incredible views of Columbus Circle. We ordered the salted lychee martini -- phenomenal. And then a whole spread of delicious food. Dover sole and tiger prawn pad Thai were stand outs. And then the dessert. Wow. You must get a soufflé here. We had the passion fruit soufflé and I couldn't get enough. Would go back just for that. Service was also incredible. Incredibly kind, helpful and we never felt rushed or pressured."

They finished their meal, but when the bill came the guy pointed out to the waiter that his soup had a roach and left it on a napkin for the waiter to see. The waiter then only charged for the bowl that didn't have the bug. Hmmm could the guy have found the bug in the end or the middle of the meal. His bowl was completely finished. He wore a suit, a professional working guy. But at the same time, I wasn't surprised bo ky has a possible roach problem...Would still go back to try their beef curry soup noodles next time. Ordered the #1 on the menu with flat rice noodles. It was pig liver and pig intestines. The soup was really flavorful. The pig liver and pig intestines might need some of the sauce if you are not used to the taste and texture. When you come here, expect it to be somewhat clean, food and flavor is good. Service can be a hit or miss. But prices are good and stomach should leave full with low chances of possible accidental bugs in your soup."

"3.5 stars overall -- IG posted a foodie video and down the rabbit hole I went. This restaurant has two levels, first floor is dimly lit, cozy and is quieter and good for conversation. There are several small tables and bar counter seating. Downstairs is where you'll find the larger dining room with a much livelier crowd of patrons (and restrooms). Definitely good for groups and the more social, drinking crowd as it's even darker downstairs. The main menu is two sided, the front - it's tasting menu received a Michelin Bib Gourmand award at $53/pp (Dec. 2024), which is served family style. They will do their best to accommodate food allergies but in some cases it may not be possible. (My shrimp allergy made it a bit challenging to dine here but there was plenty on the menu to choose aside from that). On the back of the menu, you'll find the a la carte style options. Overall I liked the menu options here better and the waitress was mindful of my shrimp allergy so she pointed out what could be altered and what couldn't.We started off with the vegetarian turmeric crepe with mushrooms and fish sauce (served on the side). There was an option to add protein for an additional supplement but we chose to keep it vegetarian. The crepe was very crisp like an egg roll would be. But the mushrooms being so mild in flavor, this dish could've used another ingredient to bring out more taste. We were not a fan and didn't finish it. As per the IG reel, you know I had to order the Short Rib Grilled cheese sandwich. It was served with a Beef broth as a dipping "au jus". The sandwich looked and tasted good! They could've been a little more generous with the meat portion as it was a bit skimpier looking than the IG post. The beef broth was the best compliment and that completed this dish to make it satisfying.For our main entrees, my friend ordered the fish, Cha Ca La. It was a turmeric branzino perfectly pan seared. The skin and outer texture was crisp without drying the rest of the meat. The flesh was soft and very moist. It was the best dish we had this evening. I ordered the Mi Vit Tiem, which was a roasted five spice duck. Paired with thick egg noodles and shitake mushrooms with duck sauce. This duck was served sliced, a bit fatty but it was perfectly seasoned. The egg noodles were soaking up some of that duck sauce which gave it more flavor. Just the dish was a bit oily. Duck was a good portion.I must mention the wine list and cocktail menu. Lots of great choices for those who like to drink and dine. I had a glass of the orange rose (Das ist Schon). It smelled wonderful and should have had an Asian pear undertone but I think I tasted more citrus instead. Very fragrant and the waitress was right to pour first to taste before serving a regular glass. That I appreciated very much. I took a photo to remember the brand and type.The execution of the dishes overall, were a bit inconsistent. I think the restaurant tried very well to accommodate the "sauce on the side" and adjusted for my allergy. However, some of the dishes just didn't work out. Great service overall and thanks for the complimentary duck fat to go!"

The food was amazing, the service was amazing and the restaurant is so cute. We had been out in the cold and walking around so we ordered a lot.
