"One of the top notch and delicious Chinese / Szechuan spots! We ordered: -jellyfish salad: super refreshing and flavorful. -braised tofu with crab meat: very delicious and it tasted like salted egg was added to it which really enhances the flavor -spicy cumin lamb: kind of remind me of the lamb skewers and it's a nice balance of meat and veggies that consist of onions and cilantro-white style chungking braised fish stew: my favorite dish and practically fished the entire dish including the soup. The fish fillets were tender and the soup itself is flavorful and not crazy spicy which makes it really enjoyable. Overall service is quick and attentive. Great ambiance for both small and large groups."
"Tasty takeout Chinese. The chicken was white meat, the shrimp was cooked perfectly with a perfect amount of flavor. The scallion pancake was divine. The fried rice was plentiful will definitely have to try in person!"

"Came for the weekend and heard this place has some of the best Dan Dan noodles. Of course I had to check it out! Service was great, the place is very minimal and clean looking, which I love - nice in there. For food of course we got the Dan Dan noodles that were delicious! So flavorful, nice spice, noodles had good texture. We loved the cucumbers too, it was spicy but also cooled down your mouth since they are cold. I love the crunch too. Very nice! The dumplings were just okay. The inside was delicious but the dough itself was a little tough, too doughy. I didn't like. Check them out and see what you like there!"
"Wow, wow, wow! Came here for my birthday dinner & was blown away! The scallion pancakes were divine, paired it with the Woodear salad which was such a unique texture & flavor! The French fries were good but also could've gone without them. For entrees we ordered the prawns (very tasty but they come in their shell so I definitely avoided the struggle there). We also ordered the noodles & beef & green pepper dish which were delicious! Definitely recommend!"
"Was hesitant because this place is Vegan and my experience with vegan food is that it just doesn't hit right. I think it's a great idea to turn a szechuan restaurant vegan though because it's not hard to do. Also hear that this place is one of those vegan spots that anyone would love eating at and boy were they right.CHILI WONTON - perfect texture to the dumpling skin I must say, with of course that classic szechuan chili coming through.KUNG PAO TOFU - great texture on these tofu bites, and I happen to be a fan of tofu but I don't think it necessarily tasted too much like tofu. Strong szechuan flavors coming through here too, and authentic sauce flavor too.DRY PEPPER ** - this was one of our faves. I think also tofu? but had this nice crumbly texture to it. Really recommend getting this.MAPO TOFU** - also recommend getting the mapo tofu, was worried this wouldn't come out right but the texture was perfect, the sauce was HITTIN, and stands out as a pretty damn good mapo tofu, even wthout the crumbly pork.DAN DAN NOODLES ** - really great texture on these. Perfect asian al dente. A must when eating szechuan food. Drinks were solid!"
"Solid experience with excellent food, superb service, and great ambience. Not a single issue for our group and our server was exceptionally helpful and guided us towards some great selections and just the right amount of dishes. The staff as a whole were very professional and we had a very good visit from beginning to end.The food here is really great and considering location, is actually a good value for what you pay. The food is flavorful and most of the dishes pack a great punch in terms of taste from the very first bite. The General Tso's chicken was my favorite dish full of delight and unlike any other version of the dish I've tried anywhere: great texture, full of greens, not too greasy, and complemented perfectly with a side of white rice. The shrimp toast is dangerously good and I'd definitely make sure to order this dish as a starter on every visit. The soup dumplings were a solid order, as were the cold sesame noodles, which were a big hit with the table. The one dish that I don't think I'd order again was the crispy garlic chicken, which I was most excited to try but found a bit dry and lacking in flavor compared to the rest of our dishes.Overall, a really great dining experience, especially for a family style dining group outing. I loved the charm of the space, which was subtle and intimate. The staff were very accommodating and made the experience all that more pleasant. One of the few dining experiences in Williamsburg that would draw me back in regularly and is worth the price."
"If you're craving authentic Sichuan cuisine, The Best Sichuan is a must-visit. The service is impressively quick--staff take your order promptly, bring drinks out in no time, and serve your food hot and fresh. They even wrap up leftovers for you, which is such a thoughtful touch. The Dry Pepper Chicken is hands-down the star of the menu. It's crunchy, spicy, and absolutely bursting with flavor--the best dish I've had in NYC in a long time. The Lo Mein was another highlight: perfectly hot, flavorful, and loaded with noodly goodness. The restaurant boasts a spacious layout with a cozy Asian-inspired ambiance, making it perfect for both casual outings and larger gatherings. Bonus: they have a cute bar area for shots if you're in the mood to unwind.Highly recommend for anyone who loves delicious food, great service, and a relaxed vibe. I'll definitely be back!"
"Took my vegetarian parents here and they were so impressed. The interior is spacious so we were seated quickly even on a Sunday afternoon. Service was nice but a little understaffed. We got the veggies dumplings, mapo tofu and dan dan noodles. The mapo tofu was pretty spicy but with a side of rice, it was amazing. Everything on this menu seemed like a hit. Will definitely be back to try more!"
"We ordered in and I must say I was quite pleased. We ordered lamb with cumin (mutton), ma po tofu (my favorite), dried strignbeans (delicious), and General Tso's chicken. It comes with rice as well. I have to say it was delicious and I'm very picky about my Chinese food. They delivered it very quickly which was great. Very nice sized portions which was great. We definitely had leftovers which was very nice for another meal - give them a try - I promise you will be happy."

I found myself at Chili for a work holiday get together. I had never been here before, but one of my colleagues had good things to say so I was really excited to check it out - plus discovering a new spot is never a bad thing in my book. Chili sits in Midtown East close to Murray Hill and K-Town. Like many other Manhattan restaurants, the space itself isn't too big; there's a bar towards the front of the restaurant with tables on the opposite wall, with more towards the back. The decor is kind of bright with soft blues and tasteful decor throughout the space. There were 5 of us, and we decided to order everything family style to share. We started with some shrimp dumplings, wontons, and scallion pancakes. These were all good - tasty without being overly salty. We then moved onto mains - spicy lamb, spicy chicken, eggplant, and tofu. Again, everything was really tasty - I don't tolerate high spice levels but this was just enough heat where I was able to enjoy everything. We had a couple of rounds of drinks and I wouldn't overlook their craft cocktail menu - they were creative and tasty.Service was good - we were told once seated there was a 90-minute limit which they adhered to as we saw a party waiting at the door as we were wrapping up. I think for a party of 5 that 2 hours would have been more appropriate, but I also understand that it's the holidays and they need to turn over tables. Overall, I had a solid experience at Chili, and would return to explore more of their menu.

I loved the food here. Everything was very tasty and flavorful for sure. I liked the unique variety of dishes as well as the classics. The eggplant accordion was good but I thought there was way too much fried batter on it. I really enjoyed the spicy fish fillet - fantastic flavor and crunch. The cumin lamb was also very tasty and had a good kick. My only complaint would be that the food (or maybe what I ordered) was so heavy and oily so I felt pretty awful after

From food to drinks and atmosphere this is a gem! We heard about live jazz on Wednesdays so made sure to come then and had some very chill music from a duo all through our dinner. That plus the cool space -- industrial but filled with plants and never too loud -- make for great vibes to start. The cocktails deserve their own shoutout -- really inventive combinations and delicious results. And the food is uniformly great with options for both those with low spice tolerance (me) and higher (my husband). Favorites included the crispy spare ribs (super unique flavor and fall off the bone tender), crispy fish (the salted egg yolk coating is addictive), lamb with scallions, and soup dumplings (we got the crab and pork). It's easy to rack up a high bill with drinks pretty much $20 each and so many plates to share, but worth it for an all around excellent dinner experience.

Every single dish slaps and this was the best mapo tofu I've had. I convinced my friends to come here for Chinese lunar and not sure if it was because it was new years but the whole place was kind of lit. Almost lounge vibes, dark lighting, very loud. Just something to keep in mind.

Went for thanksgiving meal while visiting Brooklyn with family. All food was really good. Loved the soup dumplings. Even Gotham extra order after we'd finished! Got the drinks in a large pitcher. Went through 2 for 7 people. Wasn't cheap but probably more economical than individual drinks. Restaurant is much bigger than it looks.

Dear TBS,Fabulous! Finally, a low-key, "lives up to the stars", relatively inexpensive, non-touristic (hard to find near Midtown) spots with REALLY delicious food and really friendly service. I ordered the vegetarian Ma Po Tofu and the Veggie Rice Noodles. Portions were large, I asked for extra spice and they weren't short on the long peppers, so the taste was spot-on for my spic-loving taste buds. There are a variety of dishes for meat/fish/veggie lovers and a plethora of beverages to choose from. I'll definitely be back, and am looking forward to my leftovers! Happy New Year, Liana

I came here with a group of five. They required the full party to arrive before seating us. The decor had an art deco feel to it. Low lighting with hot pink light bulbs that cast everything in a magenta haze. Green velvet booths. Patterned wall paper. This is a great place to go with a group and dine family style, which is exactly what we did. The steamed vegetable dumplings were okay, but a little dry. The crispy eggplant was deeply batter fried and barely tasted like eggplant, in a good way. The accompanying sauce had a touch of sweetness. The string beans were fantastic. They were loaded with chili sauce and very flavorful. The salt and pepper style was tasty, however it was hard to distinguish the ingredients because of the very thick fried batter. The dry pot style was deliciously spicy. My absolute favorite dish was the dan dan noodles, which were coated with a mouth-watering, rich sauce and heaped with mushroom bits to mix in. Service was impressively fast. This location is much larger than the one in East Village. Definitely a must-try, even for meat eaters!

"In a neighborhood where Chinese options are largely limited to fast casual and ancient takeout spots, this solidly classy sit-down Szechuan space has been a welcome addition for the past few years. The food is mostly of excellent quality, and the service is better than the Chinatown spots of my youth would have me expect. This is not the place for General Tso's chicken. They specialize in proper Szechuan cuisine. Accordingly, the mapo tofu is the real deal, spicy and excellent. I'm always happy to get it, and my shirt never is. The Chungking Chicken is a winner, and I'm always happy to eat the dan dan noodles. I have yet to try the Kung Pao, but I've heard good things. The starters are also of good quality. Scallion pancakes are awesome, soup dumplings, although Shanghaiese, are still quite good (although better ones can be had for cheaper a few blocks north at Nan Xiang), and the wontons in chili oil are great. Speaking of which, ask for some chili oil and use it liberally to punch anything up, especially the Stewed Fish with Vegetables, which is an excellent choice if your mom also can't handle the heat. I like how the lunch specials come with some pickled veggies. I like pickled things. There's a full bar, and even a negroni on the happy hour menu that I haven't been brave enough to try it yet. However, the wine and sake are both quite affordable if you come in early.Give it a go."
"Peppercorn Station was an experience. The restaurant is always busy and the staff are always working to keep your water glass full, cause you will need lots of it.We shared the Dry Chili Fried Chicken Plate and the Assorted Pea Noodles. The Chili Chicken was beyond spicy. My entire mouth, including lips, were numb. However, it was an inviting level of spiciness and the slight tinge of relief came from the noodles. If you're looking for good Szechaun food, come to the Peppercorn Station. You will enjoy this cuisine..... but prepare your palate for some five alarm excitement."
"Such a delicious meal! I grew up eating dim sum, so Breeze's menu felt like a warm hug from home. We got a bunch of dim sum dishes and a few other dishes. Dim sum: xiao long bao, har gow, and shumai. Everything was delicious! My only complaint is that dim sum should not be this expensive, but (1) it's Brooklyn, and (2) the super cozy interior and dining experience is all a part of that price tag.Sides/mains: chili wonton, dan dan noodle, tomato curry. The standouts for me were the dan dan noodles and tomato curry. The noodles had a great texture and were packed with so much savory flavor. The tomato curry was also so flavorful, yet light, and I loved the addition of tofu and enoki mushrooms. Both of those textures went so well with the curry. Drinks: peach tea cocktails. So delicious! Whenever I get a "tea" based cocktail, I can almost never taste the tea, but this cocktail was deliciously tea-forward! It was so smooth and refreshing, and the perfect amount of sweet. They also have a great HH deal on drinks :)"
"Did go to Chinese new year. Extremely busy day but waiters are nice and did their best! Great food but of course spicy!"
"One day I was desperate for good authentic Szechuan food without having to travel to Chinatown. I thought I try this spot. It looked legit and the menu seem authentic enough. When I order my food for take out. I ate it fairly within good timing because the food was still hot. The spicy fish was average. Wasn't anything of special to me. The salt and pepper was okay. It was popular the best dish of the 3 I had. The duck was the worst. Really dry. Chuck that into the garbage asap. This is one and done for me. Only if I'm desperate I will come here."
"The food here is so good! I came here on a wednesday night and it wasn't too busy, we sat right away and once we ordered the food came out super fast. We ordered the peking duck, orange chicken, beef tripe in chili, crispy cucumbers, tang yuan, double skin custard, and black chicken garlic soup, and all of it was so yummy. The staff was all so kind and attentive, and we were able to hang out and eat our food without feeling rushed like some places will make you feel."
"Found this place on the way to another Chinese restaurant. When I saw the Michelin recommended sign in their window, I knew we had to stop and look no further. We loved everything. The orange chicken, chicken lo mein and dumplings!"
"WOW! Just got take out form Chiko for the first time and I'm a total convert. I ordered with mapo tofu with mushrooms and it was delicious! The right amount of spice, wonderful textures, and a huge portion. Totally worth the price and may be a new go to for a hearty dinner!"
"Do yourself a favor and add this place to your list. Make sure you order the beef lomein. The flavors are so rich and the meet is so nice and tender."
"The food tasted pretty good and authentic! We ordered the Fried Pork Bun, Mapo Tofu, and Pork Belly with Taro. The staff were friendly and personable. The only downside was that the ventilation was poor and the smoke from the wok seeped into the dining area to the point where my eyes started getting dry from it. Despite that, I would still come back because I want to try other dishes."
"I had come here for lunch- nice interior but you can smell the intoxicating cardamom buns from La Cabra next door- makes you want dessert right away. Peking duck had a good dark meat and crispy skin ratio. A little pricey but a treat. Xiao long bao was pretty standard but delicate enough. Highly recommend the deboned pork trotters- good amount of heat. I also really enjoyed the Dan Dan noodles. Overall one of the better Chinese spots in nyc!"
"I have come here a couple of times for lunch. It's a full service restaurant. It a very good size with plenty of seating. The service is quick and friendly. They lunch specials that come in a bento box situation which is really cute. Other items on the menu are nice portions served family style. The spicy chicken and string beans are my favorite dishes...so far!! But everything is good A+ do recommend."
