"As a disclaimer I'm not a huge ramen fan so most ramen is good enough for me. I got the spicy shrimp ramen which was great but not mind blowing. Portion was filling and had 3 big-ish pieces of shrimp. I added an egg but it's not really necessary. I tried the tonkotsu which was also good but too smokey for me.Service was quick, they told us we only had 1.5 hr for our reservation. It filled up on a Thursday night around 630-7."
"My favorite spot for ramen in the financial district! Kuu almost always has a line out the front because it's so good, but it moves quickly. When you eat in, the space is small inside and you might share a table with others but they have dividers set up so you don't feel like you're sharing. Get the tonkatsu broth! It is cozy, hearty and comforting. The chili ramen special is also good and has a nice bit of spice. We also enjoyed the karaage chicken. Service is prompt and friendly. They made sure my water cup was never empty. You can also order beers, sake or sodas and juices, and for dessert they have sesame and matcha ice cream. We have also ordered take out which is nicely packaged, flavor travels well."

"Always love to come back for more ramen especially in this cold weather. The broth is rich and ramen has good texture. Service is great. Clean restaurant."
"The temperatures have begun to dip and that means soup, and ramen, season is in. This is a small restaurant but I met up with a couple friends for a pre-show meal. We went right after they opened so we had no problem getting seated. We all ordered Sapporo's which weren't on the menu and got to work with our ramen. I got the spicy chicken and was so happy with him. Spicy and salty but balanced. The beer with it was a good move."
"I got the Chicken / Kara Chicken Ramen bowl for my first time here. Sometimes chicken ramen can be lackluster with the savory-ness of the taste, but this one was well seasoned. It wasn't overly salty and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The Kara Chicken ingredients included: homemade chicken broth, chicken chashu, half ajitama, bean sprout, bok choy, corn, cilantro, red onion & shallot chips. There is also an option to make the bowl spicy with their homemade spicy paste and oil. I opted to get this on the side, and thank god I did because it was superrr spicy. I literally put a small scoop of it on the tip of my chopstick and mixed it into my ramen - and when I told you I had tears in my eyes... But it was really good, just adjust how much you want to put in depending on your spice level. I also added more cilantro to my ramen afterwards, because there could never be enough (I'm a big cilantro fan). The shallot chips, bok choy, along with the onions added a nice crunchy texture to the bowl that I loved. To start - the place is super cute. It's decorated with a ton of Japanese style accessories and furniture, adding to the ambiance as a whole. It really transports you to a small Japanese ramen shop - or at least I would imagine so (I haven't been to Japan...yet). Everything is Japanese themed, covered with Japanese writing and symbols. It definitely added some allure and visual excitement as you indulge in your ramen dish. If you've read past posts, you know I'm a very visual person. I love the way aesthetics are formed and intricately crafted to enhance the gustatory sense. The interior is small, but it's super cozy. They utilize the space pretty well to accommodate as much as they can. It's a great place to come with a small group of friends for a quick bite to eat. This time, I happened to come on my own. Don't be afraid to, because here, they have single seats along a bar on the wall. The decor on the wall in front of me resembled classic, Japanese windows, which I thought was a nice touch. Overall, I love the concept here. Review is via my blog: https://www.doublemacchiatoblog.com/"
"The noodles here are the absolute best! It's not a large space but doesn't feel crowded or noisy. The tables are mostly four tops with only one large table that I noticed (I think it seats 8?) so if you have a larger party, you might want to call ahead. I recommend the shrimp fried noodles or the chicken katsu ramen, both dishes are phenomenal. The servers are very nice, and happy to accommodate small changes to the menu items and various spice levels."
"Perfect place for a cold winter night. Snagged a table for four in a walk-in, place is very unassuming but clean with efficient service. They were out of a couple things we tried to order (curry ramen and Sapporo beer) but the menu is extensive and has several vegetarian (even a vegan) ramen options that did NOT disappoint. Ramen was hot, fresh and super flavorful. decent portions for around $19 per bowl. Recommend stopping in if in the area and need something filling and tasty!"
"On freezing cold day, nothing beats a warm bowl ramen. I searched around where I was and found the Jin. It is situated on a relatively quiet section of the neighborhood. I could not find obvious sign out front but the clean, modern design of the entrance made it the 'obvious'. There are two kinds of ramen options - pork vs chicken. I chose the pork option. I also ordered a small fried chicken. When both came out, I was surprised by the size of the fried chicken. It's good for two people. The skin was crispy and the hot sauce was just right, spicy and tangy. The ramen was good but the stand out item in it was the poached egg. You have to try it. The only shortcomings of this place is single restroom. It's clean but looks like needing a renovation. Would be back in the summer and try out a few more items."
"Seated rather quickly during peak lunch time, we enjoyed our time at Tabetomo. Noticing a lot of people around us were speaking Japanese, as well as the server, was a good sign. We got the tonkotsu jiro ramen and tsukemen, and both finally had the rich flavor I was looking for. A lot of ramen I've had in NY lacks the deep, creamy taste tonkotsu should have. The kind of taste that takes hours to build. Both were garlicky, rich, creamy and very flavorful! Our server, Keisuke, was bubbly and welcoming. It seemed like he was the only one serving, so he was running back and forth but he did a great job."
"I love the vibe of this ramen danbo as well as the fact that you can get almost the entire menu in a vegan version. The spicy curry ramen was delicious. I didn't add any extra toppings but if I were to go back I'd add tofu and spinach. The stamp card is also very cool and high tech (you store it on an Apple wallet pas they scan). I'll definitely be back!"
"Very cozy and comfortable space. The service wasn't bad but could be a little better. Not as attentive or helpful as I'd hoped. The wings were fried super well, had a great flavor and I loved the soy glaze. The shrimp tempura was also great! Crispy prawns, and the wasabi mayo was a unique and refreshing flavor. I also had the Dan Dan noodles but didn't enjoy them at all. They were flavorless and unfortunately adding extra sauce didn't help. I would return but only for the wings and shrimp!"
"Food: we got the egg truffle sandwich, karaage chicken, and I got the kyoto ramen for my main. Drinks: I got the umami old fashioned & chanel no. 5. My friend got the tomato cocktail and blue cheese cocktail. All of the drinks were so unique and good! Overall the vibes, food and drinks, and service were all good!"

We were almost an hour early for our reservation but got seated early. I thought the ramen was okay. The spicy chicken karaage was good but 1-2 pieces felt a little chewy. The pork gyoza was the highlight of the meal. It was flavorful and had a nice crispy touch to it. We also tried the caramel custard which was pretty good. Good Japanese food, okay ramen!

I wish itooknmore pictures. This place is out of this world if you like this kind of food. Great customer service, very quick turn around on food, the food is amazing, tasty, balanced and has flavors that you probably didn't experience before. Its a small place so you might be asked to wait outside to get in if there is a line but trust me it's worth it! The crispy bao bun was so flaverful and the miso ramen with krispy belly was cooked to perfection! Give it a try if you are close to here!

There is nothing a good bowl of Ramen cannot fix. I wish I had this closer to home because it was so good. I could be particular about my broth, and this place truly delivers all the right flavors. Perfect flavors with noodles just the way I like it. This might be the best ramen I've had in a long time. Loved everything about it. The pork bun could have been better though. My best friend loved it too.Overall great place, I will return.

This place is cozy, cute, and trendy. We stepped foot inside after visiting an art opening down the street. The weather was extremely cold so ramen is a must. We were greeted and sat immediately. For starters, we shared the fried rice and it was good but not memorable. I love how each one of us in the group ordered something different so we were able to depict each ramen. I got the spicy miso ramen and it felt so close to actually being back in Japan - the warmth of the rich broth and pork was benevolent together. The server was simultaneously flawless with managing all the tables in the restaurant. Speed to lead and remained calm scanning the room. I was very impressed with her dexterous manner.Even so much, we ordered dessert. The matcha creme brûlée, I was quite astonished of how pleasant it tasted. I am not a matcha person per se, that it doesn't take over my palate. It was sweet and light.. we should have ordered more hehe.

This ramen truly is golden. We stumbled upon this spot because it was right next to our hotel and had long lines out the door each night. We were a group of six. We waited in line on a Saturday night starting around 5:10pm. It was a really rainy night. We were seated around 5:45pm. Do know you need your entire party there to be seated. Our table was right by the front window with the line of people looking in. The restaurant was a really small tight space, but this table comfortably fit our party. The menu has a variety of ramens to choose from with the option to make it kara (spicy). Our vegan friend found a ramen option on the menu. Do know if you want an egg or certain other goodies you do need to pay extra. You can see the topping section of the menu for this.Everyone in my group loved the ramens they ordered. I got the the classic kin ramen itself. This pork broth ramen was beyond delicious. The noodles were thinner than I expected, but still divine. I normally am not able to finish a full bowl of ramen, but I think all the walking, the rainy day, and the incredible ramen made it easy to. A lot of my friends took leftovers to go which the restaurant packs for you. Do know there is one single stall gender neutral bathroom in the back. After trying the food here, I totally understand why there is a long line out the door for this restaurant. I highly recommend ordering ramen here.

Lovely dimly-lit spot with 9 tables for 4+ in the front and a counter bar. Wait staff friendly and willing to offer suggestions for my first visit, openly advising that some items were an additional charge. The broth was delicious and mild. A subtle flavor. The eggs were exquisite with a lovely aftertaste that blended perfectly with the broth. I was less sold on the panko-crusted chicken. The breadcrumbs were yummy in the broth but I wondered about the chicken. Few white meat pieces and more dark or pressed chicken pieces. That said, I'd come back for the broth and the refreshing and surprisingly spicy - just enough- cucumber dish.

While visiting NYC had dinner with my niece & her family. Their Christmas tradition is to have ramen at Teppen Ramen before a visit to the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. We were so happy to tag along. It was so authentic tasting. Best Ramen I've tasted in a long while. Great hot soup for a cold 32 degree weather. The broth was super tasty that I can eat everyday. Hubby & I shared a Shoyu ramen & Pan Fried Pork Gyozas. Service was great. Staff were friendly. We did not wait long for our order place was small but had a nice warm vibe. Next time I visit the Big Apple I will surely stop & have a bowl of deliciousness

"Four stars because this place has been a neighborhood gem for years. The ramen is rich and flavorful without making you regret your life choices (not too spicy). Service? It's decent, but you're really here for the deep, comforting bowls of broth that make even my picky parents say, 'Not bad" as they slurp it down. Perfect for those cold evenings when you need a warm hug in noodle form."
"Very very small place with maybe 6 tables but don't let that fool you. The drinks are good and strong and the food is on point I forgot to take my food. The bartender tonight was very attentive and food was great. A little expensive but worth it. 2 matcha mules, 4 ramen bowls and 2 soft drinks for $157 after taxes plus tip. It was walking distance from our hotel (Hotel 50 Bowery)."
"The weather has been very cold recently, giving me the perfect excuse to grab ramen with a friend. We started with an order of gyoza (not pictured), which came in an order of 6. My friend ordered a chicken broth ramen, while I got the spicy tonkotsu. Both of us loved our dishes!Of course, we needed to end with something sweet.. the ube crepe cake was delicious and perfect to share."
"The flavors were good (mainly bc of the sauces and bonito flakes) but wish the noodles had a little more flavor."
"My favorite ramen spot when I go see a Broadway show! This is my treat myself/happy place. Also, their takoyaki is everything you didn't know you needed. So is the purple sweet potato tempura and Karaage. Also, service is super fast and efficient. The space is very small and cozy, you'll probably share personal space with the table next to you but it adds to the atmosphere. Also, the bathroom is trippy. I won't spoil it for you. You have to see if for yourself!"
"I got the New York style shoyu ramen with half the noodles and the spicy paste on the side. It was freaking delicious. If it had come standard with more/a variety toppings, it would be my favorite ramen in the city. As it is it comes with chasiu and chicken and half an egg, but then one piece of cilantro (literally one leaf ahaha) and like 3 wood ear mushrooms, which felt a little crazy for the price. But I sucked the broth down like it was the last Coca Cola left in the dessert; truly delicious. The staff was super friendly even though I was a bit confused on how to order lols and I was able to get a seat no problem! but the place is small so I did see a few people get turned away or quoted long wait times. Will be back because the broth is addictive but I might sneak some bean sprouts or scallions in in my handbag"
"Walked past here and came in on a whim and I'm glad we did! Both the Shoyu ramen & Miso ramen were delicious and I'm still thinking about them the next day. My only complaint is that I wish I had thought to order an egg! Other than that, there was a good amount of toppings, and it was super filling. My friend that came with me is Japanese and he loved the ramen and said the whole place was very authentic. Everyone working was super kind and always had smiles on their faces. Good vibes and the playlist was awesome. I'll be back!Update: I thought about this place every day for a month until I came back. New fav ramen spot in the city!!"
"Hate to do it but Ssam has fallen off drastically. They used to be a reasonable restaurant (decent food at decent prices) but we just ordered food and none of it came satisfactory. The Galbi Tang was bland and the radish was not cooked through. The Pajeon portion was a joke for $12.The Ddukbokki was ok at best. Sauce was a bit sweet. The Bulgogi Kimbap was obnoxiously wrapped with too much rice that exploded beyond the seaweed wrapping. I appreciate the one free rice they gave me but probably will not be going back sadly."
"This place was so delicious! The cocktails are fun & creative. The scene here is nice and calm with good music playing in the background. I tried the aged tofu, and the Lucky cat ramen. I was happy with my choices. I definitely would come back here again!"
"Ramen was pretty good. The soup was flavorful and not too salty. Service was pretty standard. I like how they gave us hot tea when we didn't drink the cold water. It was 25 degrees outside duh!"
"Walked in here by myself after a happy hour event! I needed food and quickly! I was seated immediately by the hostess, who was so friendly and sweet. Right away a server came by to take my order, after a quick glance at the menu I knew what I needed, wings and my fav Salmon rolls. Within 10 minutes I had my drink and wings to start. The wings were crispy and seasoned perfectly. I tried to eat them as modestly as possible but I couldnt help myself; they were really good. The salmon roll was fresh and filling!Since I was by myself the staff would stop by and chat with me for a little bit which was super sweet. All in all I was there for 30minutes total. As a native new yorker, i love when i can get in and out of a place within 30 minutes and feel like i had a 1-2hr experience. I will definitely go back!"
"Honestly such a hidden gem in the LES. Have been coming for years and love their light but flavorful broth - ordered their tonkotsu recently and it was great. The tontoro was an old favorite of mine but I haven't seen that lately."
"Tonkotsu ramen is always a comfort food on any rainy day. This place always makes the best bone broth delicious and savory, slurping the noodles happily away. Noodle slurping is an appreciation of the noodle soup to the chief. The chashu was tender and flavorful with a nice burnt on the edge. The fried oysters were fresh, batter was light not heavy so you can tasted the oysters. This dish goes well with an iced cold Sapporo."
"If your looking for fancy this ain't the spot, if your looking for good basic Ramen then it is ! Great Ramen made individually to your liking. Service was good enough for what they are. A great Ramen dive place with no frills. Should have reviewed it years ago just kept on forgetting to."
"Second time and always a solid meal. I highly advise coming here for something like a weekend lunch. They've got great specials running and the service is quickI ordered the Katsudon and it's absolutely going to become my go-to. The chicken was great, I might see if they could put just a little more sauce on it (if that's ok) because the rice wound up being a tad bit less flavorful than I wanted. I know I could also just add a dab of soy sauce but the curry on the chicken was so good...I also tried their matcha lemonade. Not something I'd get every time, but it hit the spot. The lunch deal on sake wasn't too bad either."
"I really enjoyed my experience here! As a vegetarian, it's always tough to find good ramen spots that have flavorful broths. I was pleasantly surprised by the Vegetable Ramen here! The broth was very tasty and I loved that the boiled egg was also vegetarian! I ordered a side of extra tofu as well - I found the tofu very well flavored - it was marinated in a great sauce!! The chili sauce on the side added a good flavor to the broth as well! My friends ordered the Hakada Tonkotsu and Spicy Tantan ramens and also enjoyed them! My only wish were that there were vegetarian options in the appetizers, unfortunately didn't find anything that I could eat. The service was pretty standard overall. The restaurant itself is well decorated and much bigger once you walk inside! My experience was great here overall"
"I met an old colleague here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Ramen is always touch and go but this place hit the spot for quality and flavor factor!I ordered the combo 1 ( ramen chicken soup , bao and machta pudding) for $25. The ramen dish was super flavorful and for an extra $1 they added spicy noodles which wasn't that spicy actually. I had the chicken and the soup was delicious - I prefer it to be more temperature hot but it was hot enough. Prior to that I had the beef bao roll which was tasty and a great appetizer!Unfortunately I was t crazy about the dessert and pretty much left it alone I'd come back and order the popcorn chicken as well as a different type of ramen - Overall I was happy with the meal and the service"
"The establishment is clean, very limited seating. The staff extremely friendly, welcoming and courteous. We had the momo ramen with beef both and chicken and was definitely one of the better ramen noodles we had."
"Quick, efficient and friendly service in Midtown. Our large group ordered an assortment of dishes and everyone was happy. Great ramen and other Japanese dishes."
"Based on one visit.Nice little place. Ramen in general was good but a bit salty. Other places struggle to keep the salt reasonable too. Good location a short walk from WSP and NYU.Places to sit inside and outside. They had several Japanese beers including Sapporo which I like. Worth a try."
"Overpriced, but delicious. If the price was lower I would be a regular. Would like a chicken ramen option."
"I came here on a Friday night after having a craving for Japanese food from watching some shows based in Japan on Netflix that centered around food.Izakaya did not disappoint. The food was delicious . The atmosphere was cozy and home like. The service was attentive. As it was a tapas place, we ordered a variety of different dishes from tofu to sukiyaki to mush room fried rice. All were very tasty. I was also a big fan of the tea pudding. One minor thing to note is that there are actually two other places with the same address as Izakaya, which made it slightly confusing at first."
"Ai Ki Ya in KoreatownI have mixed reviews about the place. Let's start with food.Ordered three dishes:-Tako Yaki-Salmon Avocado Roll-Deep Fried Skewers (Beef, Chicken, Shrimp, Meatball, Sausage)The tako yaki was delightful. The fried octopus filling was not dry and it was crunchy on the outside. Garnishes on the top was a very nice combo to the dish. The roll was pretty good. Each piece was pretty big and filling. As like the other dish, the garnishes really helped pull the dish together. The deep fried skewers... do not get this. You are required to get 5 skewers at minimum to place the order. The menu I had had no picture of the food so i went ahead and ordered what sounded good. My mistake here, the size and flavor. The skewers are just unflavored with the smallest possible bite of food. With how much I paid the total bill, the skewers didn't make the total price worth it. Spend the money on a nice roll or little dish instead, this was a a total waste of like 1/4 of the bill.Generally, the restaurant was quick to attend you considering how small and crowded it was for a Saturday night. Food came pretty quick and had a very nice aesthetic, as well as the restaurant.Would I go back again? Absolutely but not for the deep fried skewers. Other dishes were amazing and looking around there were a lot of good-looking foods I would want to try."
