"I came across Taco Mahal in Hell's Kitchen while exploring the area, and I was immediately intrigued by their unique fusion of Indian and Mexican cuisines. The concept is so creative that I just had to give it a try. I decided to start with the Tandoori Chicken Wings, and they were nothing short of phenomenal. The wings were perfectly cooked--juicy on the inside with a slight crisp on the outside--and the seasoning was spot on. The bold, smoky flavor of the tandoori spices paired beautifully with the classic comfort of chicken wings, creating a truly memorable dish. It's not every day you find such an inventive blend of flavors that works this well. Each bite was packed with spices that transported me straight to an Indian kitchen, yet the dish still retained its universal appeal as a classic appetizer. I'm already planning my next visit to explore more of their menu because if the wings are this good, I can only imagine how delicious their other offerings must be. If you're a fan of bold flavors and culinary creativity, this is a must-visit spot!"
"Spice Symphony has been a fascinating enigma for me in my dozen plus years living in their delivery zone!Their food is really good! Very good! Exceptionally good! But I've never seen a restaurant undermine the high quality of its food with pedestrian and almost aggressively indifferent service the way Spice Symphony does. Whether you dine in or order from them. And I hope Spice Symphony takes this as constructive criticism.Your service and general attention to detail in delivery is atrociously and arrogantly bad compared to your delicious food.If your attitude to customer service weren't so stubbornly lazy and arrogant, you'd have a Michelin star or two by now.But even now, I have to call and beg to make sure you don't forget to include something in my order. I love your food and I hope you realize one day just how bad your service is."

"The horseshoe layout can fool a passerby when they catch an exterior glance strolling down the historic "curry row", but don't be fooled, the small establishment is quite accommodating. The staff is attentive with the water and was not pushy with driving sales on food items, though they do ask if you want rice with your dishes despite ordering a bunch of naans. Didn't get to try the lassi for personal reasons but friends didn't complain about them. Had no room with dessert but I'm sure things would have been delicious if we ordered. Would visit again to sample the rest of the menu, however, it's a bit of a distance for all of us and we were only around for the special occasion."
"First time trying vada pav and samosa pav. The pav/bread was so soft and buttery. In one bite, you experience the softness of the bread, the crunchiness of the samosa skin, and the smoothness of the spiced potato filling. The bread was spread with cilantro chutney and chili powder, adding an extra layer of freshness and heat.Paneer tikka roll. Perfect for snacking or a quick lunch! The grilled paneer cheese was milky and creamy!Lamb korma box. The korma was rich and nutty. The lamb was so tender it yielded to a fork's touch. A whole box contains one main entree, yellow dal, rice, paratha, onion salad... so filling!Chicken biryani. The chicken was juicy, and the whole dish was really well-spiced. Fiery, savory, tangy, sweet... very addictive.Mango lassi. Creamy, silky, and rich in mango flavor. A good companion to spicy Indian food!"
"We were in the area on sixth avenue to get in our Joe's Pizza fix (so good!), but I did find through my research that, a block behind sixth avenue on MacDougal St, there were a bunch of eateries that we needed to try out. Since there's only so much real estate in our stomachs, we settled on trying this inexpensive hole-in-the-wall spot called Thelewala that served Indian wraps/rolls. I thought it was unique. Inside, it's very cramped and there's barely any room for seating. I would say this is more of a grab-and-go spot. The staff was friendly and steered us away from the chicken phall roll, which they stated would be too spicy for us. Instead, they recommended we try their chicken pata chicken roll with their habanero chutney sauce on the side to dip it in - just in case it would be too spicy for us. Well, the roll was pretty good. The habanero chutney was, in fact, quite spicy. But, we enjoyed it. It was also easy to eat and not too messy. Next time, I plan to try out their vegetarian rolls to see if their Indian spices stand out more. If you're in the area, come and check them out."
"Went there before a theatre show. They offered a 15% discount for pre-show guests. Just show your tickets. We ordered off the pre-theatre menu which offered an appetizer, main dish, and dessert. Staff was outstanding. Helpful in making selections and attentive.Food was outstanding. Fresh and authentic. Enjoyed the variety of appetizers and desserts. Good selection of cocktails, alcohol, and mock-tails.Prices were standard and even reasonable for New York.Seating was spacious enough to enjoy our meal. Clean, table linen tables. Would definitely go back! Worthy restaurant for a broadway type date-night."
"I've been intrigued by aRoqa for quite a while, so one night, when I was craving Indian food, we came in. No reservations needed for a Tuesday evening. aRoqa is definitely an upscale Indian restaurant, with a smartly decorated interior and nice bar. We ordered chicken biriyani, butter chicken, and garlic naan (basic, I know). The chicken biriyani was a modest portion, and I was pleasantly surprised to see an addition of crunchy caramelized onions on to (reminds me of a Mediterranean dish). This dish is bone in, and the chicken is very moist, but there were some chicken bits (tendon?) that I found myself biting into that somewhat soured the experience. The raita was much thicker than I'm used to, more of a creamy sweet addition than the usual thin, refreshing raita. This dish was just ok to me. Butter chicken was amazing. Obviously this dish is always good, but it was really delicious here, we surprisingly finished off the entire dish and I found myself licking the spoon at the end. The chicken chunks are large and juicy, but you'll need to cut them with a knife. Garlic naan was delicious - crispy, brushed with butter, incredibly flavorful. Just wish there was more to soak up the delicious butter chicken sauce. Service was very attentive, our waters were filled very quickly. Overall, solid meal. I'm not sure the slight elevation of Indian food is worth the hike in prices, but your options are somewhat limited in the area. I'm not dying to go back, but it definitely hit my Indian food craving."

Definitely worth seeking this place out. Hole in the wall type place with amazing Indian Mexican fusion . Super small inside but has a little seating and a covered outdoor area. Your order at the counter and pick up. They have bowls, biriyani, curries, roti tacos, naan tacos. Chai and other a la carte items. We chose the roti tacos with Chana masala, malai chicken and chicken tikka . With a side of masala fries. Served piping hot the rotis are nice and soft and so fresh. Stuffed with your choice of fillings topped with a little cilantro , onion and cabbage garnish. Comfort food kinda food . The chicken is so well marinated and a good amount of sauce. Can be messy eating it ! The fries had seasoning and the chutneys for dipping. Nice and hot too and perfect with the tacos. I'd like to try the naan tacos next time. Had read about this place so many times and it did not disappoint. Cannot wait to go back on my next trip back to NYC. It's a Great place to get a quick bite or a snack . Very tasty and full of spice !

This place is a hidden gem! The lunch special is outrageous. I posted the menu to this review - there are so many options for everyone and it is so well priced! ALL YOU CAN EAT INDIAN FOOD for less than $20 in Manhattan?? I'm honestly shocked this isn't on every lunch deal website ever. Great laid back ambiance and very kind and attentive staff. Fast service. No complaints at all.

Murgh korma, garic naan and Malai Marke Paneer! Overall, it was so good! My favorite was the malai marke paneer, which was a good mix of savory from the paneer and sweetness in the base sauce. The murgh korma was good, but a bit sweeter than I liked it. They were kind enough to adjust the spice levels in our dishes. The garlic naan came was hot and perfect for dipping!I was able to walk in without a reservation and get seated immediately. This place is pretty solid for indian cuisine and definitely would come back here again.

Our server, Ralin, warmly welcomed us and instantly made us feel comfortable. He began by serving refreshing mango lassi drinks and offered insightful recommendations for our meal. With genuine enthusiasm, he explained each dish and highlighted the most popular ones in India.Every dish we tasted showcased the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients. The flavors were incredibly well-balanced, with spices and sauces harmonizing perfectly. We started with Samosa Chaat, a popular Indian street food. It was a delightful explosion of flavors and textures - sweet, spicy, melted in your mouth. Following Ralin's suggestion, we tried the Bhel Puri, which quickly became my favorite. He described it as Mumbai's most popular street food. It was sour, sweet, salty, crunchy, you name it! Despite the variety, everything came together beautifully. I highly recommend trying it! The chicken tikka roll was perfectly marinated, without being greasy or heavy. We also ordered the shrimp tikka masala, a true comfort food. The creamy sauce leaned slightly sweet for my taste, but it was balanced by the soft and fluffy rice, flavorful lentils, a refreshing onion salad, and the paratha - a flaky, layered flatbread. I did miss the option of naan, which is perfect for scooping up the sauce. The shrimp biryani was equally delightful, packed with flavor in every bite. I noticed the biryani contained a mix a both yellow and white rice grains. We had to end off the night with desserts. The gulab jamun was my personal favorite, it was cold but Ralin said that it's also really good warm. They are pillowy soft dough balls that are deep-fried till golden and then soaked in a sweet sugary syrup. Super sweet!! I wasn't really a fan of the ras malai but I liked the creamy cardamom milk sauce. Food was incredibly filling, so come hungry! The small bites are served on small plates making it easy to share. We also love how convenient it is to box the food since it's already on trays. For an authentic Indian food experience, look no further! The restaurant might be small, but it buzzes with takeout orders.

West 8th Street and MacDougal Street- this street in Greenwich Village is full of eateries ranging from the luxurious Minetta Tavern (famous for its Black Label Burger) to the cheap Pommes Frites (a well-known French fry establishment).Thelewala- Hindi, it means roadside vendor. a compact joint tucked into MacDougal Street. They are well known for their fresh and spicy chaat, but most importantly their Nizami rolls--a grab-and-go restaurant serving Kolkata Nizami Rolls and other Indian street foods. We ordered its famous Thelewala Chicken roll and masala chaiThe roll was fresh, long pieces of marinated chicken, they cooked in front of us (which means it was not cooked earlier) and I could taste the freshness. something about their green mint chutney was different for me (it might be Amla /Indian gooseberry), but that tasted different.Masala chai was horrible though, not at all good. The shop is not spacious though, It's mostly grab-and-go, but there are a couple of stools seat to sit on. wall-size mirror makes it look bigger, decor is simple but beautiful. not sure why I had not heard before about it, but I got some options other than Kathi roll.

Went here last minute for an anniversary dinner! The Sunset cocktail was delicious and crazy flavorful and the food was cooked perfectly! We were so happy with the service, our waitress Catarina gave great advice on what we should order, and she gave us a small side of masala sauce with our naan because she heard me say I enjoy dipping! The ambiance is romantic, with dark walls and warm lighting, and we did not feel on top of other diners.

On a cold, dreary night when I couldn't find a spot in any bar for myself, I ended up finding myself right next to Inday and decided to give it a try. You order at a kiosk and grab any open seats - it was refreshing to see a fast casual place with such a huge, clean seating space. I'm skeptical of Indian fusion places (especially in NYC) but Inday is legit. The portions aren't super filling (I was particularly hungry) and I ended up getting a second full entree for myself. But I was very impressed with the flavors, and clean ingredients. If I'm ever looking for a light bowl with good flavors and no heartburn, I'll be back.

"Incredibly yummy spot for a quick catch up with your friends, which is exactly what I did! The naan is perfectly salted and super savory! I ended up ordering a second serving because of how addictive and affordable it was! The service was also quick and wonderful! Thank you!!"
"This is the best Indian food I had in Manhattan. The curry was not super thick and heavy. It was super light and didn't feel like it was dripped in oil. The location is great and interior is cute.Tip: try the chicken tikka masala."
"Rowdy Rooster!.This Rowdy Rooster just smacked this white boy with a whole lot of spice and flavor. After seeing this spot all over insta and seeing a line all the time. I happened to pass by today with only 1 person in line so I decided to go in..It's a small fast casual spot with 3 tables. Mostly geared towards take out. The have a few sandwich and bowl options for a small menu..The food here surpassed my expectations. The flavor profile and combination of flavors is so good. I got the big rowdy sandwich and Marsala fries. Sand which kicks I also got the middle spicy option and wow I was seating prob pretty mild for those who can handle spice. The fries are made like cottage fries so they are round. I also got the hot tomato sauce on the side which was really good!.In short:- Small fast casual spot only 3 tables- Really good food, gotta get those fries!- I'll be back"
"Food is good. Service is like those places where you need a owner to be around at all times."
"India house is fantastic. They have thee best naan! Their take out special is a great value and it's the best Indian food I've found in Brooklyn. Definitely order over the phone rather than with delivery services. They deserve the direct business."
"THE BEST chicken tikka! So incredibly creamy, flavorful, and the chicken is well-cooked and perfectly portioned. Don't miss the buttery and pillowy fresh naan or the Pani Puri either! Very welcoming and a great spot that I never miss when I visit the city."
"I've ordered from this place many many times and everything they make is so good. The butter chicken, the samosas, aloo tikka, the haleem, the roti, okra, all amazing. And they don't just add in a crappy salad for free. They give you a beautiful salad with perfectly fresh vegetables. And the staff are so pleasant and kind. I really believe that this is one of the best restaurants in NYC."
"It's been a year I have come to this place & I am so glad I got to visit again. Customer service is always on point, food is too good . And did I mention I loveee the decor so much ! They have the most amazing dosa which you guys definitely gonna try . This time I tried their cauliflower, Salmon Tikka Masala . My favorite was the cauliflower, yumm. Never got to try tikka masala with salmon before, so it was delightful. Only thing I didn't appreciate the hard rice, I had really hard time chewing! As an Asian person who eat rice 3 times a day complaining about rice isn't a small thing. I so wanted to give 5 stars but I am sorry ! Thank you for all the hard work you guys are doing, will be visiting soon to try the other options!"
"The momo is amazing! The servers are friendly. There are many things to try on the menu so this is my first of many reviews."
"Jen's Roti shop is my favorite spot for chicken roti with tamarind and pepper sauce! It can get a bit busy, but the wait is never too long and worth it. The cozy little space adds to the charm, even if it sometimes feels tight. I always leave with a smile and a full belly!"
