Lindsey D. "Service was fabulous & food was very good. We had shrimp, pork, chicken breast, chicken thighs, & vegetables. Other than the meat, limited gluten free options. There is no gluten free salad dressing & no tamari soy sauce. All sauces are not gluten free as well."

Sarah Y. "Super cozy and delicious food! We got a table in their backyard area, but it had heaters and was still pretty warm, though I sat by the door which kept opening, so it was cold. We went on a 28 degree day, and got the first hotpot option with their signature soup, and felt great in the cold weather. We also got the salmon and signature roll. Both were solid. We got athe asahi beer and Yuzu sake as well. The sake tasted like juice and was pretty sweet. Service was also pretty good, they served our first bowl of soup. The soup was a little salty though, so definitely get rice with it!I will say this meal ended up being $70/person, which is quiteeee pricey"

Trung T. "Oh man this place was SO GOOD! The Miyazaki beef (above the wagyu) was the most tender beef we've ever eaten...and dipped in the raw egg was just pure perfection! Our waiter cooked and served our first couple of slices of the beef for us and then we were on our own the rest of the meal, but we were well taken care of. The size and spacing of the tables is a bit tight, but they do offer storage bins below your chair to save on space for coats/purses. Highly recommend this for an upscale dinner!!"

Alex X. "This was my second visit to this restaurant and we ordered the BBQ skewers, hot pot and grilled fish buffet which also included drinks and appetizers. The buffet format made for an enjoyable meal and my friends and I all thought it tasted good. The staff's service was also excellent, very diligent in replacing plates and tidying up trash. Located on a busy street in Chinatown, it was very easy to find.$50/person (all expenses included)"

Carolina B. "So, so good! I'm not a hot pot connoisseur, and I honestly don't necessarily ever crave it, but we stopped by for a warm meal and left very satisfied! Staff is super nice, place seems clean, lots of space to sit and enjoy. The food is fresh and delicious."

Kathleen S. "Gangnam is my new favorite hotpot restaurant! I went with a friend for the AYCE lunch buffet special for $20 a few weeks after it opened. It was pretty astonishing how much was included--besides the hotpot, they offered appetizers like sushi, kimchi, shrimp tempura, and lots of other pickled and fried items. For dessert, there was ice cream, fried pumpkin cakes, fried coconut balls, and fresh fruit (watermelon, melon, honeydew), among others. In addition to all that, they had a case of canned and bottled drinks like Wang Lao Ji, soda, and soy milk. Was the prepared appetizers and desserts the best I'd ever had? No. Was the cut fruit ripe? No. But still decent and can't complain based on the price. The hotpot itself was very good. The ingredients were fresh and abundant. There are some items that are only available for dinner, but the main meat, seafood, tofu, vegetables, dumplings, and noodles are all there. I really liked the clean, calm, and pleasantly decorated interior with the booth seating. The staff were friendly and efficient. Overall, definitely a spot to return to with other family members in the future. They do have a discounted price available for kids."

Kristen T. "This was our second time dining at Ootoya, but our first time at the Chelsea location. This location had a nice cozy feel but it's bigger than the Time Square location. They had a special limited time menu and we ordered the Chicken miso katsu nabe(Autumn Gozen Set), and from the regular menu we ordered the Kami Jibuni Nabe. The chicken katsu nabe was excellent, had a distinct miso flavor. There wasn't much broth, but there was a side of miso soup that made up for it. I had the Jibuni (Duck) nabe again and it was just as delicious as our first time. Our server was so nice and attentive; came by and refilled our tea so often. Overall, I loved our visit. I will definitely come to the Chelsea location again."

Melissa L. "Ootoya, part of a global chain, is a good choice for a well made and decently priced Japanese meal in the Times Square area. The staff is attentive and the vibe is calm and relaxing, which is a nice respite from the craziness in the area. This restaurant can get pretty crowded at times on weekends and during dinner hours. There are plenty of options on the menu, from teishoku sets, salads, hot pot, sushi bowls, sushi bowls, rice bowls and noodles. The menu has changed over the years but the food has remained pretty good. The dishes come in sets, with the diner able to make many choices for their set.I've been here (and the Chelsea location) for lunch and dinner and it's always been good. The staff is very well versed in taking care of its guests and folks don't linger too long after they are done eating. There is seating at the bar and at individual tables. Prices are reasonable."
