"Service was fabulous & food was very good. We had shrimp, pork, chicken breast, chicken thighs, & vegetables. Other than the meat, limited gluten free options. There is no gluten free salad dressing & no tamari soy sauce. All sauces are not gluten free as well."
"Super cozy and delicious food! We got a table in their backyard area, but it had heaters and was still pretty warm, though I sat by the door which kept opening, so it was cold. We went on a 28 degree day, and got the first hotpot option with their signature soup, and felt great in the cold weather. We also got the salmon and signature roll. Both were solid. We got athe asahi beer and Yuzu sake as well. The sake tasted like juice and was pretty sweet. Service was also pretty good, they served our first bowl of soup. The soup was a little salty though, so definitely get rice with it!I will say this meal ended up being $70/person, which is quiteeee pricey"

"YummmmThis is my favorite spot to get Japanese food in NYC.This establishment has been here since Covid - there's a lot of seating especially during lunch time.I usually get the salmon meal with multi grain rice and onsen tamago with salmon roe.The food is delicious This place is a great for a solo meal or for sitting down with friends.Highly recommend if you're in the area!"
"Oh man this place was SO GOOD! The Miyazaki beef (above the wagyu) was the most tender beef we've ever eaten...and dipped in the raw egg was just pure perfection! Our waiter cooked and served our first couple of slices of the beef for us and then we were on our own the rest of the meal, but we were well taken care of. The size and spacing of the tables is a bit tight, but they do offer storage bins below your chair to save on space for coats/purses. Highly recommend this for an upscale dinner!!"
"This was my second visit to this restaurant and we ordered the BBQ skewers, hot pot and grilled fish buffet which also included drinks and appetizers. The buffet format made for an enjoyable meal and my friends and I all thought it tasted good. The staff's service was also excellent, very diligent in replacing plates and tidying up trash. Located on a busy street in Chinatown, it was very easy to find.$50/person (all expenses included)"

authentically Japanese and straightforward Shabu Shabu. Everything was of nice quality for a reasonable price. the sauces were good and came with the traditional toppings. The free ice cream was actually so good and they served us a comforting hojicha with dessert. Pretty great for $50 per person including tip.Store is cozy and clean, and the wait staff were efficient.

Cuisine: 8Service: 8Decor: 7Value: 7Overall: 8One of the few restaurants in NYC that specializing in Japanese hot pot and sukiyaki. On a cold winter day, there are very few things I crave more. The sukiyaki I had before, though pretty good, the quality of the beef versus the price tag does not appeal to me. For that, I much rather go to an old school place like Momokawa. On the other hand, the nabe options are pretty good. My personal favorite is the Hakata Motsunabe, which is full of beef intestines that gives the broth (I prefer classic) its wonderful umami flavor. On my recent visit, the pork belly nabe with miso broth was good too. It's not as good as the one at Ai Ki Ya, but they give you soup replenishment, which is awesome. The restaurant is relatively small, with wooden stalls and tables, old school lanterns, and cute owls as part of the wall decorations. There is often a wait, so not good for groups larger than four people. The service is friendly and more than satisfactory. You will find me here a handful of times every year, especially in the winter.

The food at Ootoya is consistently good. Last time I was at the Times Square location, this time at he Union Square location. I like both. What stands out at the Union Square location is the service. Our server did a great job telling us about the sake options. She checked on us to make sure our water was filled and we liked our orders. Can't wait to come back when I am in New York next time.

I went here for the first time for their all you can eat hotpot and skewers. It was a pretty good dining experience overall in terms of the taste of the food. We got a good amount of meat skewers and hotpot ingredients. The service was okay. I think it might have been a busy Saturday night when we went.In addition to skewers and hotpot, they have ice cream for dessert and an assortment of drinks. They even have a space for karaoke that is out in the open. The basement space that we sat has a lot of Hello Kitty items on the walls.

My friend and I were craving Hot Pot and this was close to K-town. So, being experienced eaters in Flushing we were excited to see what K-Town would bring.Food: 3.5/5 I was honestly disappointed with menu. I was expecting duck tongue to be avaliable but it wasn't. I even had my friend (native Chinese) read the Chinese menu in case I missed it. But, it was not there. The veggie and meat selection were okay nothing particularly interesting. We ordered the pork knuckles, but there were not anything to write home about.Service : 5/5 Candidly, this is not a western restaurant. You order the food by yourself, you make your sauce by yourself, and you can call staff via the tablet. I am not disappointed by this at all.All in all, I am not sure if I would go back since I have had better Hot Pot in Flushing. But if I am stuck in Manhattan, maybe?

First, walking in, the ambiance is very cool, i love the decor & the neon lights. The chairs are also really cool colored red. The service is really good and i felt like they were extremely attentive. I did the spicy beef malatang lunch special (16.99) between 10-2:30pm and it was so filling and I had a lot of leftovers. Could definitely split between 2 girls. I love the broth & the toppings that it comes with. You are also able to make your own sauces to dip the meat in. Would definitely come back!

Great options and extensive menu - with also extras such as deserts and a buffet style of garnishes, sauces, vegetables, etc.Service is efficient and attentive The space itself is one of the more appealing KBBQ/hotpot places.

"So, so good! I'm not a hot pot connoisseur, and I honestly don't necessarily ever crave it, but we stopped by for a warm meal and left very satisfied! Staff is super nice, place seems clean, lots of space to sit and enjoy. The food is fresh and delicious."
"Order is super easy - scan the QR code and order from your phone Everything came pre-cooked - with a stove / candle on the table to keep it warm/hotThe broth is flavorfulVery friendly and attentive service with nice staff"
"Gangnam is my new favorite hotpot restaurant! I went with a friend for the AYCE lunch buffet special for $20 a few weeks after it opened. It was pretty astonishing how much was included--besides the hotpot, they offered appetizers like sushi, kimchi, shrimp tempura, and lots of other pickled and fried items. For dessert, there was ice cream, fried pumpkin cakes, fried coconut balls, and fresh fruit (watermelon, melon, honeydew), among others. In addition to all that, they had a case of canned and bottled drinks like Wang Lao Ji, soda, and soy milk. Was the prepared appetizers and desserts the best I'd ever had? No. Was the cut fruit ripe? No. But still decent and can't complain based on the price. The hotpot itself was very good. The ingredients were fresh and abundant. There are some items that are only available for dinner, but the main meat, seafood, tofu, vegetables, dumplings, and noodles are all there. I really liked the clean, calm, and pleasantly decorated interior with the booth seating. The staff were friendly and efficient. Overall, definitely a spot to return to with other family members in the future. They do have a discounted price available for kids."
"This was our second time dining at Ootoya, but our first time at the Chelsea location. This location had a nice cozy feel but it's bigger than the Time Square location. They had a special limited time menu and we ordered the Chicken miso katsu nabe(Autumn Gozen Set), and from the regular menu we ordered the Kami Jibuni Nabe. The chicken katsu nabe was excellent, had a distinct miso flavor. There wasn't much broth, but there was a side of miso soup that made up for it. I had the Jibuni (Duck) nabe again and it was just as delicious as our first time. Our server was so nice and attentive; came by and refilled our tea so often. Overall, I loved our visit. I will definitely come to the Chelsea location again."
"Ootoya, part of a global chain, is a good choice for a well made and decently priced Japanese meal in the Times Square area. The staff is attentive and the vibe is calm and relaxing, which is a nice respite from the craziness in the area. This restaurant can get pretty crowded at times on weekends and during dinner hours. There are plenty of options on the menu, from teishoku sets, salads, hot pot, sushi bowls, sushi bowls, rice bowls and noodles. The menu has changed over the years but the food has remained pretty good. The dishes come in sets, with the diner able to make many choices for their set.I've been here (and the Chelsea location) for lunch and dinner and it's always been good. The staff is very well versed in taking care of its guests and folks don't linger too long after they are done eating. There is seating at the bar and at individual tables. Prices are reasonable."
