"Service AND food was a 10/10! I got the medium brisket sandwich on a club hero roll. It comes with pickles and mayo/mustard. Remember to ask for a side of gravy ! Since I had a hard time deciding , the cashier offered me a sample of the pastrami. I couldn't finish the sandwich and when I asked for a to-go container she took it in the back and had the chef wrap it for me! About $17 for the medium sandwich and you can get bigger or smaller. I arrived about 45 min before closing and they weren't sold out of stuff and I didn't feel rushed! The macaroni salad looked yummy but I'll try it next time. Can't wait to be back!"

"My wife is from the area in Brooklyn and was craving Jewish food. We were visiting and went to see if it was as good as she remembered. We were not disappointed whatsoever. We ordered a ton to eat there and bring back to NJ. The cook/waiter greeted us and was very welcoming and friendly. The pickles and slaw they give at the start tasted excellent.We each ordered Dr. Browns sodas. For apps we had stuffed derma, corned beef & cabbage knish and chopped liver. All were delicious and made well and were served quickly. Yes, the service was excellent, kept table pre-bussed and server was patient and very nice!For entrees, wow man! I had the Gourmet Delight triple decker combo sandwich w tongue, corned beef and pastrami. It was divine! Others had pastrami sandwich and kosher Reuben (no cheese or Russian dressing), both enjoyed and took half to go. We also took home rainbow cookies, noodle pudding, and stuffed cabbage. Yeah, we let gluttony get us this time. Can't get food like that in Jersey! Looking forward to going back!"

I didn't want to sit in a bar and have a huge meal plus as it keeps getting later my food options become very slim. This place is open super late. In fact I don't think they close until 5:30am. The options here are huge and include wraps, hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches and paninis. It took me a while to read the whole list and I finally decided on "The Godfather". It had a nice selection of Italian meats with lettuce, tomato, red onion, oil, vinegar and roasted sweet peppers. There are also a lot of bread options. It comes as a sandwich which is a round bun. I asked the chef for the long bread which is called a hero. I'm not sure how much more it was but the sandwich was only $8. I didn't care because I needed some food. The sandwich was really tasty. East coast bread is a little soft but good. I like a little more crunch on my sandwich. The store has about 400 varieties of crunchy snack options which include chips, pretzels and popcorn. There are also candy bars, nuts, power bars and dried fruits. I got some dried apricots and low sodium pistachios as well as a couple of candy bars. The guy at check out was funny. He kept asking me if I wanted to give him more money by buying more stuff. I don't think he needs any more money with the prices they charge here. Hey it's Brooklyn and this is the price of convenience. This store has everything including fresh fruit and vegetables. They also have frozen foods, in case your hotel has a microwave. I saw a guy buying a frozen pizza. I wanted to tell him that there are like 8 pizza places right down the street. I'd rather eat a fresh slice then a frozen pizza. So if you find yourself hungry in Brooklyn, then this place has you covered with food and snacks. It's a great place for late night nibbles."

"Ventured into the store while walking home from a stroll. Realized I wanted to make some tacos for Taco Tuesday dinner so thought I'd see if I can some ingredients here. Upon walking in I was immediately shaken by the huge variety of items they have for such a small store. They have cleaning supplies, they have sparkling water, they have a big selection of veggies and stored goods. I was able to find my way around the store with ease and I went home happy with my taco night supplies. I am unable to comment on service since I did not ask the store employees for help, but will certainly add more information in the future as I come back in the future for quick grab groceries! This place is recommended for anyone who lives in the area that needs anything home and grocery related, and do not have time to go to a larger mart!"

"I live in the neighborhood and this is the only deli in walking distance of my house. The food is all very delicious and I've been coming here since I was very little. My only complaint is the price has raised a lot throughout the years and it means I can no longer go there as much as I used to, but the food is still as exceptional as it was, and I have no complaints on that aspect. The inside of the place definitely changed throughout the years I like the new improvements. And in the picture is most possibly my favorite item which is a turkey and cheese lettuce tomato mayo on a roll. I don't know why it taste so good but I just know it does and I'm really craving one today so maybe I'll go back and get another one. If you live in the area, I recommend eating here. The staff are really friendly and it's nostalgic and homey for me."

"Hands down one of my favorite places to frequent. It's great because they are always pleasant, and I'm there pretty regularly (okay, yeah, daily basis). I come here so much I don't even check in anymore, but if I did, you would say 1,289 check-ins and I would look like a weirdo, and you would wonder why is she here so much!? The location is perfect because it's in front of the closest train on the block, so I can always grab something if I'm on the go. If you know anything about me, I am a fan of healthy food. Well, they have successfully accomplished that. I believe they have looked at the demographics of the neighborhood, so they have specialty foods for Asians and Middle Easterns. There's a deli which is super popular with teens after school, but it's also ideal for commuters to regularly get their coffee/herbal tea or whatever quick breakfast they are going to get on the way to the train. I have seen plenty of other regulars there who see me so often we feel like we know each other without even knowing each other's names lol. It seems as if it was recently renovated to include a chandelier, new floors and possibly other updates such as a well lit sign on the outside. In short, they take care of their customers, they take care of this place, and they are in tuned to what people want and they do their best to give it to them. I can imagine that they are a neighborhood staple here to stay."

"I pass by Columbus Diner quite a lot, but never went in mostly because it doesn't look interesting from the outside. I decided to stop by one Saturday afternoon since I was picking up breakfast for my fiance and his parents. I saw their menu had an abundance of breakfast like dishes that I love to eat and wanted to try.As I walked inside, I noticed how busy it was and how crowded it was. There is dine-in available, but doesn't look very fancy. Decor is a bit out of date. I decided to do take-out and got an everything bagel with peanut butter and jelly (sounds a little disgusting, but it taste good). The cost is standard price for bagels. Customer service was on point and good. The bagel was absolutely delicious and filling. I was stuffed after eating most of it. Overall, I like that there's an alternative option if I don't feel like having buns or dim sum for breakfast. I can just take a 5 minute walk down to Columbus Diner and grab a bagel, omelette or something else depending on my appetite. Hope to come back soon and try their other breakfast items."

"Great local cafe in North BK Heights!I come here periodically since moving to the area and it's always a pleasant experience. The owner is a very nice guy who always greets you when you walk in. They always have classical violin music playing which is quite satisfying.Food and drinks are both good. Coffee is pretty standard deli coffee, if not 1 step above. Sandwiches and wraps always hit the spot and never leave me feeling hungry. It should be known that they carry Boars head cold cuts (the best)! They seem to be fast, efficient and reliable. The prices are matched with other places nearby and the quality of food is better than most. You can order through Seamless and/or Yelp for much faster service. If you order online there is also no minimum. They have a prepared menu you can choose from or create your own. They have a $6.00 minimum for credit and debit cards which is also average for the area. The cashier staff is also friendly and efficient."

"So the secret's finally out. After Chino killed Tony, and Maria wanted nothing more to do with him, he went on the lam and opened up this little deli. Clearly, he's not the brightest crayon in the box, what with him naming the place after himself and all... I can see why Maria went for Tony instead... And yet, it's hard to imagine this corner without this spot:For starters the middle and high schoolers from nearby Brooklyn Prospect would be bereft without the Egg & Cheese Sandwiches from here to start their day as they head to school. In fact, it's a tween' n teen hangout, thanks in part to its decent Takis, aka tube-shaped corn chips selection, and a small "outdoor patio," a phrase I use very loosely, with some seating.My kid is a huge fan of the Times Square Sandwich, which includes Roast Beef AND Bacon. It's surprisingly not bad at all. I am far less enamored of the Blue Buffalo, a lackluster Buffalo Chicken Sandwich that disappoints in terms of real blue cheese flavor. Should you want a beer to wash down your Sammie, they've got your covered here, with a selection that goes beyond Miller & Bud. Have also heard the coffee is good, but am pretty dubious about that one. Bottom line is this place is an unsung neighborhood institution. Though frankly, am surprised Chino isn't singing about it.:)"

"I arrived at my hotel and settled into my room, tired after an 18 hour travel day from Alaska. I wandered down to the pub below my hotel for a quick drink and an appetizer to wind down with, but alas, they had just done the last call. I stepped outside to see what I could see, and like a beacon in the night, I saw the "Brooklyn Deli" glowing, an oasis in a desert of the unknown. I walked a very short distance from my hotel and was greeted by a few friendly locals hanging outside smoking and an even warmer shopkeep and sandwich maker. I looked around and was pleasantly surprised at the beverage selection, fortified and not. I pondered the sandwich board and made a quick decision. I ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich which came out fast, was hot, on a tasty bun with the perfect amount of lettuce, mayo, and tomato. Grabbed water and a beer and went on my merry way! I ended up going back to this little establishment a few times on my visit to Brooklyn for some other emergent needs that came up. Absolutely a great little shop!"

Options include the classics honey turkey, roast beef and grilled chicken; plus spicy options like jerk turkey and buffalo chicken. Cheeses range from good ol' fashioned American to Muenster and everything in between. #3 Prices are on point. $4.50-5.50 for a roll, $5.50-$6.50 (I think) for a hero. And they don't cheap out on the meats either.#4 There's a plethora of snacks and drinks in the deli as well. Arizona teas (still just $1!), Vitamin Water, Pepsi, etc etc.#5 The Staff is so welcoming and have been so nice each and every time I come in for lunch.I've been there several times in the last few months and have no plans to stop. They make a good sandwich so why would I? If you stop by for lunch - I highly recommend the following: jerk turkey, Swiss, bacon (it might be turkey bacon), honey mustard and lettuce. So good, especially when they warm it up."

It looks to be newly remodeled but isn't fully stocked and isn't fully put together i.e. the produce refrigerator isn't set up and they aren't fully stocked with products but, it's also not a hole in the wall news shop with stale candy. They do deliver, but at their convenience. Only when the deli counter guy isn't busy. Overall Johnson has potential but needs work. At least they're good for snacks."

"I love this place.I don't buy many items here, usually just milk, lottery tickets, and the occasional sandwich. The store itself is pretty small, and it has all the essentials, including a fairly large selection of beers, plus ice creams by the counter at the front.Their sandwiches are actually delicious and a fantastic deal: their sandwiches are large enough to fill you if you're very hungry, or large enough to last you two meals if you're not too hungry[1]. And at $6 apiece, they're one of the best deals you can get along this stretch of Franklin Avenue.Also, a shout out to all the people who work here: People at the deli counter are super-fast, the lady at the front is always friendly[2], and like it when they call me "papi". They're representative of a vibrant, friendly, hard-working Dominican community that has been living around these blocks of Crown Heights for a couple of generations.And they're always open, no matter the weather. A couple of times after a snowstorm they let me borrow their shovel to dig my car out.Perhaps I'm old fashioned; perhaps I just like these corner delis/bodegas that add character to a neighborhood, and give you a sense of community if you live nearby. I've seen too many little bodegas along Franklin Avenue like this one close down to make room for bagel shops and Verizon stores; let's hope Brooklyn Deli continues to be what it's always been.-------------------[1] I highly recommend the salsalito turkey.[2] And a real beauty, which always puts me in a good mood any time of the day."
