"The Islands is our go-to for Caribean food when we need delivery. The oxtail with rice and peas and garlic shrimp are to die for. Our vegetarian friend loves their curry vegetables with tofu as well. Prices are high although the food matches the quality. I wasn't a big fan of the jerk chicken wings, mac and cheese, nor the plantains. Both were not as moist as I like however it might have been an off day. I definitely want to try the other dishes such as the curry goat and stewed chicken!"

I'd skip the salmon crab balls as they weren't very excited and lacked flavor. We got the tasting plate, which was good and still had leftovers. The curry goat was really good and the jerk chicken had a lot of flavor/spice. The oxtail and rice and peas were good too, but I've had better. The plantains were crispy and delicious. Back home more spots are closing down or mainly take out only, so it was nice to sit down and enjoy our meal."

"This was my choice of the 1st place to eat upon returning home to NYC. It's in my mother's neighborhood, so I wanted to see what has become of Brooklyn, NY. All she told me was that there was a carribbean fusion spot blocks away. So instantly, I said, "Let's roll. Upon walking up to the restaurant, a person greeted us from outside and sat us. Inside was a straight vibe from jump. The energy was high, the music was playing, and you could smell the food cooking in the back. There is a nice size bar and dj in the front of the place. There is plenty of seating inside for any size group. I had the jerk chicken w/ rice & peas and collard greens. The food came out in a reasonable time. My mother had the chicken & Waffles. That was good I tried it the Waffles were thin and nice. There was like a slight spicy brine for the chicken. My brother had the whole Snapper that was also really good he said he really enjoyed it. I will return here w/ my sister because she would love the vibes here w/ her friends. Maybe we will return for brunch one day. This place reminds me of a place called 4Play w/ the nice music and energy. The server was very knowledgeable and fast! If you want good food and great vibes while in the gateway area of Brooklyn you must stop in. You won't be disappointed!!!"

"If there were 6 stars, I would give this restaurant that. This was one of the BEST Caribbean dining experiences I've have in NYC for a very long time. Many Caribbean restaurants think they are providing experiences and they are not. Cross road was a 10 from start to finish. I enjoyed the fact that I can have a conversation and hear the other person at our table. Most places of Caribbean cuisine have the music loud like we're in a club. I get its a bar and restaurant but I never understood dining and not being able to have a conversation and not scream. The service was amazing. The host was very attentive from the moment he sat us to the moment we left. He was friendly and pleasant and accommodating the whole time. My drink was amazing.(the millionaire) It had just the right amount of bourbon and was mixed perfectly. I ordered the bbq jerk chicken to play it safe and I was so pleased. The rice was soooooo good. I was so happy to have rice that tasted as good as it looked. Sometimes, restaurants layer the food on rice and then the rice has no taste. This rice could of stood alone to be honest. Lol. The bbq jerk chicken was perfect. Manners had me not pick up the bones. We also had the churrasco steak as well and I didn't care for steak that night but the bite I had was good. The churrasco sauce was SO GOOD. The Peach Paradise dessert was okay. I was expecting more sweet like peach cobbler but it was a very subtle taste of sweet. It was made to order so really fresh and the cake consistency was nice and fluffy. I just needed a little more sugar or did i? Lol The presentation of the food was very well done. I cant wait to revisit this place. The icing on the cake was being able to meet the owners and chat with them for a minute. Great guys and they are doing a great job!"

First problem I had, considering it was my first time visiting was there was no labels or names for the food on the buffet except for the oxtails so it's like they expected you to know the Jamaica cuisine. It wasn't much on there I wanted and they didn't even have plantains. Plus the pricing was different for different things on the buffet also super confusing . I checked out up front and they weigh the food and I grabbed a water and a fruit juice . Remind you there was no pricing for those items . My juice ended up being $5 but wasn't worth it in my opinion. Wouldn't visit here again if in the area ."
