"I have a love hate relationship with this spot. I had some curry chicken which was delicious but when I returned on Monday the whole meal was off, the rice a bit overcooked and the curry lacking in flavor and spice. However they do make some delicious fried chicken so this will be my new home for some medicinal fried chicken as Popeyes and KFC have not been doing me right. Additionally this place needs to invest in some signs, I do not like playing the guessing game when it comes to prices and a sign would help me figure out what is being sold. Please get some signs!"

"Dinner with the family and The Grotto BK did not disappoint! We started with drinks and then the ackee tostones along with the Octail spring rolls were delicious. And then we moved to the main event of dinner which brought on Oxtails with rice and peas with fried plantain, crab stuff shrimp, steam veg and fried plantain and a rather tasty baked Mac and cheese with oxtails..... Yes we love oxtails very much. All in all we loved the entire experience and the service was amazing."
"I had the most lovely visit to Simply Caribbean! The owner is so nice. She proudly showed me how everything is made and then made me my first ever double with the utmost of care and love! It was so fresh amd delicious! Not to be missed if you are in the neighborhood. A qiick fun stroll from the casino. Thank You for a taste adventure without having to leave the USA!"
"So we actually chose the wrong location but ended up just staying here to eat. They make you wear plastic gloves to grab the food at the buffet. First problem I had, considering it was my first time visiting was there was no labels or names for the food on the buffet except for the oxtails so it's like they expected you to know the Jamaica cuisine. It wasn't much on there I wanted and they didn't even have plantains. Plus the pricing was different for different things on the buffet also super confusing . I checked out up front and they weigh the food and I grabbed a water and a fruit juice . Remind you there was no pricing for those items . My juice ended up being $5 but wasn't worth it in my opinion. Wouldn't visit here again if in the area ."
"- bottomless mimosa Saturday FTW- jerk chicken spring rolls were a hit'- I was a fan of oxtail empanada- fun staff shout out to Trish and Simone- snapper had rave reviews that sauce was perfect compelement- asian wings were alright- I liked my lamb although it was a bit over cooked- the salmon was enjoyed my members of our group- Caribbean soundrack- gratuity charged- food is on the expensiver side- spacious good for large groups and parties- photobooth idea was cool"
"My son went 2 days after me and got the loaded beef patty he absolutely loved it for $12.00 definitely worth it. Gotta eat it with a fork eventually from all the gravy. He said It's filled with flavor The spicy from the patty Blending with the gravy with the oxtail Then the Mac & cheese not too cheesy just right fresh noodles Patty crust flaky a nice crunch And the bread soft So in so many words definitely go to Puff patties because I will be back"
"Great service great selection of food and amazing people to lift your energy up and get your day started on the right path.....also did i mention it's my to go spot for the best breakfast/lunch/dinner in Brooklyn nyc.... You must try and let others know"
"Bought two small meals. 1. Rice and peas with curried goat2. Spinach rice with pigtail. You have a choice of fresh salad. The meals were very tasty! Super tasty! Incredibly tasty! Yummy X 100!!!Getting your meal is a very regimented sort of machine which makes me like this take away spot. You go in, join the queue (I'm sure there's always one as their food is the bomb!), check out what selections they have while you're waiting and be ready to.place your order when it's your turn. . Some folks actually waited till it was their turn to ask about other food that wasn't in the tray. No! What you see is what's available! After your food/drink is taken out you (please) proceed to the salad counter, make your choice, then the cashier then you're out.Even though the queue is long, the way they operate makes it go quickly. Did I say how great their food taste! Shop aestehtics aside, I'll be back! The End."
"I came with my friend to Tropical Taste after he mentioned it to me. It's a takeaway spot near the Pennsylvania Avenue station on the number 3. My friend got the curried goat with rice and beans and the cabbage. I got the stewed chicken with rice and beans and cabbage. The food was really good and he let me try some of his curried goat. I usually eat chicken but I would try the goat next time. The service was good--I'm surprised he didn't mention this place sooner. Anyway, better late than never."
"I love this place. Good Turkey wings, curry chicken, rice & peas, chicken soup, red pea soup (their stew peas is great but I can't get it anymore bcs chicken feet scare the hell out of me)."

Came in before they were closing in my first meal in Bk! The lady behind the counter was very accommodating and nice. We got the fried chicken with white rice over oxtail gravy and a side of Mac n cheese. The mac was dry and not sure whether it was bc the lateness in the day. Fried chicken was well seasoned and still kind of crispy. The coleslaw that came with the meal was honestly the highlight! Very refreshing and light. Kind of tasted like the Thai papaya salad. I'm a fan This is a to-go type of restaurant and one of the few that opens late in the area other than fast food.

Great way to celebrate my 40th Birthday! My friends took me here to celebrate on a very rainy Saturday night, but we quickly forgot about that because we had such a wonderful time here. We were immediately greeted and directed where we could leave our umbrellas. We were then taken to our seats-- the host quickly suggested he could give us a different table, which may better suit us. We ordered Rasta Pasta with Chicken, Squid, Plaintains, French Fries, Shrimp and Lobster, which came with Rice and Cabbage, and Prime Beef Tenderloin. We all were pleased with everything. The service was great, the music was great, not too loud where it drowned out your conversation, but perfect to where you could hear it, also. The drinks were great and had enough alcohol, except maybe the Expresso Martini, it still had great taste. They automatically charge 20% gratuity on all tables that are three people and up. I typically don't like this practice because it encourages poor service, but that surely wasn't the case here. I'd recommend this place for a birthday, date, group putting, whichever. I'd definitely return here and would encourage others to do the same thing. Just an FYI-- if you see the photos of Salmon, don't get your hopes up because they no longer offer it.

Simply Caribbean is simply delicious! Was introduced when a relative catered a food order from Simply Caribbean on our behalf. The food received such good feedback from everyone. Since then I personally visited the restaurant to purchase a smaller food order which was just as delicious as the larger catered order. Delicious food, good value, clean restaurant. I plan to frequent often and look forward to trying other food items on the menu. Highly recommend this establishment.

The location is in Brooklyn off of Utica Avenue. I went through on a Sunday and the parking is horrible. There's only street parking and I had to drive around for about 10 minutes to find parking. The restaurant is beautiful beautifully decorated and the furniture is spaced out. They have a DJ, live DJ magazine photo booth. The staff is, exceptional customer service was wonderful and the food was great. The drinks were fantastic.

Checked out puffs and I was pleasantly surprised even though they were mostly out of patties which is a great sign. I was lucky enough to commandeer a jerk chicken patty. I was about to drive all the way to Sybil's in queens, lol. I'll still brave that pilgrimage but Puffs will definitely be on my hit list. The patty was light, fresh, and the flavor profile of the chicken was on point. Puffs offers other Patty filings which I'm definitely going to return to try. I highly recommend checking them out if you're in the area.

Freshly cooked cornbeef. It's perfectly seasoned and sautéed with sweet peppers. You can also tell the dumplings were made fresh and cooked through. This was a very satisfying breakfast. And I'm pretty sure this is enough food for two meals, which is totally worth the price. Highly recommend!

"This is a quick pick up for me when I am craving pea and rice with spinach. Many dishes and treats.Great food, but the pea and rice could be better well cooked."
"LaMode bk is beautiful! The food is good. The drinks are strong. This place is too empty. Grab your friends. Bring a boo. They have ladies nights, karaoke nights, discount nights for city workers and a beautiful staff. The happy hour food is a must! Jerk tacos with chicken or shrimps, wings, escovitch bites. Careful that you don't bite down on a scotch bonnet pepper unawares because the spices here are HOTTT! Beautiful place. I can walk here from my home. I've been to LaMode bk twice this week. This is it. I have found my place."
"My aunt told me about this place so came here for a quick dinner. We ordered takeout and got the medium oxtail and medium jerk chicken. The oxtail literally melted in your mouth and was cooked to the point where the meat literally fell off the bone (we love that). The jerk chicken was well seasoned and the tangy sauce added was *chefs kiss* Normally, rice and peas aren't always my go-to bc usually the rice tends to be dry. But this was rice was not only seasoned well but I literally would have been fine eating it on its own. We also ordered the peppered shrimp which was okay but not too spicy like I'm used to. I've def had better. Overall, i'll def be returning to try out other menu items."
"Overall great ambiance with a Caribbean vibe. You can enjoy your birthday here or even just come to eat a delicious meal while watching sports.Make sure to arrive early as peak hours get busy for table service. You can always sneak into the bar stool area for a more engaged atmosphere and surround view."
"The food we got was delicious and the peanut punch is outta this world. My only complaint and hope this helps them improve is the bones in their jerk chicken sandwich. Instead of fully enjoying the sandwich, I spent most of my time fishing out the bones. This wouldn't be ideal if you're on the go and wanted a quick bite. Nonetheless, food is still delicious and made to order and the ladies behind the counter are sweethearts. There are two locations, this one on Hillside and the other on Liberty Ave. both locations you must double park unless you're lucky to find parking right there. Order ahead to make it easier."
"Jamaican joint in Brooklyn. Storefront hard to spot, i walked by once before i turned around and had to take a closer look before i realized that was the spot. The inside has some seats but not much so most people probably just do the take out. I ordered the oxtail meal which came with rice and plantains. The oxtails were tender and tasty. The rice was just okay. But the plantains were no good. Maybe its just cooked different than what i've had at other places but i definitely did not like them. While i was waiting for my food, i did hear two other patrons order the curry king fish so i gotta try that out and then reassess my rating of this place."
"AMBIANCE 7.5The spot is clean and of course new but the decor and design of the space isn't the best but that don't take away from the top notch service, drinks & food.SERVICE 10Im big on service. I don't care how good food is if the service ain't hitting I ain't w it. The ladies I encountered were CHASITY (waitress/host) & CHEYENNE (bartender) both were professional and so kind! Cheyenne knows how to make a DRANK! I didn't mind paying the $$ for drinks bc she made it worth it. Also when things weren't on the menu Chasity offered other recommendations. Besides just being attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The main star FOODok so I'm old school I used to eat at the "sit down" sallys on Ralph in Georgetown Brooklyn rip ... the food ain't been the same at the Sally's on flatlands (sallys owner I love you but y'all gotta get that together) I was hesitant to come to this one bc the food wasn't the best at the take out restaurant on flatlands but babbbyyyy I had the OXTAIL, SHRIMP in butter sauce CODFISH cakes (y'all need a better sauce tho, the regular tartare wasn't it) MAC and CHEESE ERRTHING was "10 10 10 across the board". I don't know the chef but they need a SHOUT OUT TOO! Lol I'm so hype to have a nice spot in the neighborhood Check them out bc they have happy hrs Mon-Fri 3-7 and some music on certain nights To the owner let's get some live jazz one night babe lol ;)I'll add pics and edit the post when I get some I tore the FOOD up lmao"
"Delicious Jamaican food, easy to order via kiosk. Flavorful oxtail stew and rice & peas. The curry goat roti was also good. Pair with their ginger beer!"
"Food was great. We ordered Nachos off of the brunch menu and stayed for dinner to order mushroom and chicken ramen. Everything came out quickly and deliciously.Ambiance is great! The brunch crowd has a DJ who had a pretty amazing set. Staff is warm, helpful, and friendly! Felt attended to fully.Shame I haven't visited this place sooner since I literally pass it daily.I will certainly be back."
"Stumbling upon this Jamaican spot was such great luck! Wow, I've never seen a buffet spread quite like it. Every Caribbean dish you could imagine. Grab a container and pile up the food. It was hard to decide what to try since everything looked so good. My container cost $13 and lasted 2.5 meals, so it was really worth the cost. Highly recommend! They only take cash, by the way.My only negative comment is that the food isn't labeled so I had no idea what I was choosing. It all tasted great, though, so didn't matter in the end. But still would be nice to know what I'm eating."
"Don't let the newer, fancier restaurants popping up along Flatbush Avenue overshadow this hidden-in-plain sight gem. They are consistently banging out traditional Guyanese-style Chinese dishes along with their staple West Indian dishes. For those we are familiar with The Bamboo Restaurant, please don't confuse the two. This one continues to shine while the former has fallen off majorly. All of their dishes are prepared with the traditional Guyanese seasoning. Their fried rice, their shining star on their menu, is perfectly cooked every time. Regardless of what meat or seafood is paired with it, it is a HIT. Their lo mein is pretty good and needs an honorable mention. When I want my food more spicy, I will pour a small amount of their pepper sauce so that I can take the flavor to another level. I often will pair my meal with an order of phoulourie with tamarind sauce which they will warm up for you. Their curry chicken roti is also pretty good. My sister highly recommends it!I would recommend anyone who wants to try Guyanese cooking to definitely stop in for some takeout when you are in the area. The food is always good. The customer service is friendly. The prices are right! You will definitely get your money's worth here especially if you are able to catch their Lunch Special!"
"The staff is very friendly. I enjoyed my pasta with sweet chilli salmon. Nice vibe and the music is great."
"2.5 Stars. Believe it or not, this used to be a nice place 15 years ago. However, this place has gone severely down hill. Last time I sat down to eat here, some random dude was trying to sell bootleg DVDs...inside the restaurant...really?Recently, I was gifted a shrimp and broccoli with rice from a relative and it was surprisingly tasty. The broccoli had a decent crunch and the sauce was not overly flavored well. Despite my original scoffing at this place, I did enjoy this food and will bump them a half star."
"Food is always fresh. The jerk chicken is SO GOOD!! Festival hits the spot every time. It's a very small space, so pack your patience. There may be a bit of a wait, but it's worth it. Also, bring your bills. It's CASH ONLY!!"
"This place is a VIBE!We came here on a Saturday evening, and it wasn't crowded. It could be because of the freezing temperatures we've been recently experiencing.Anyway, myself and 3 homgirls came out to get litt and have a good meal. That was DEFINITELY had!!!We each had different drinks, and food, so we could get a good idea of the menu.We all LOVED the sauces included with our appetizers. The oxtail egg rolls were on POINT; and that gravy on the side was on target ! The Salmon bits and Calamari was delish tooWe didn't fancy the fish taco, unfortunately. All and all, this spot had goooood music, drinks and food. We shall return"
"I don't even know how to compose this review about Peppa's. Like fuh real FR! I have mixed feelings but I ain't here for all of that so let's get into the real meat. Yeah, daiz ah big fat, juicy pun.Their food is really good. I enjoy it. A LOT! I could eat it every day (except the rolls on my sides aren't feeling that typa vibe). Customer service IN MY EXPERIENCE 2.5/5Cleanliness 5/5Ease of order 4/5Special order, (for instance you don't want your oxtail mixed with your macaroni salad) 0/5. Food great! 5/5Like I said, my rolls have started complaining because I've been here numerous times even without checking into Yelp BUT, I'm trying to stay away. However, If you're in the mood for good, affordable, Caribbean food you should definitely give them a try. Tell ya personal trainer I said "HEY".The end."
"Fantastic place in Queens for takeaway Jamaican food! It's even walkable from some of the airport hotels if you are here on a trip like we were. They have a few different meat options but we tried the jerk chicken and the oxtail. The base can be rice, beans, or rasta pasta. We went with rasta pasta and it was delicious and well seasoned. The jerk chicken and the sauce was so good. It was a huge portion of food as well. They have an assortment of refreshing fruity drinks and the pineapple ginger was super good. The place is small but there were some bar stools to eat inside, but it's more designed to take away. The service was nice and helped explain the menu and how everything worked."
"Soldiers food is comfort food times 20. Soldiers food is the closest thing to mom making Sunday dinner. God bless the Soldiers franchise!"
"I first learned of RyRy's from their Taste of Queens booth at CitiField and all I can say is that their Jerk Chicken Sandwich is the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. A must try if you're at CitiField. The slaw on top went well with the chicken. So that led me to try RyRy's on Grubhub for lunch on my work for home day. I ordered jerk chicken empanadas, Caribbean shrimp tacos and the oxtails rice and peas. They ran out of empanadas and tacos. And no substitution was offered. The food was delicious and will have to give RyRy's a try in person."
"Best BBQ chicken fried rice in town! Quick and professional service. Call ahead and order, they can be very busy around lunch and dinner time."
"The food was amazing. We were celebrating our 24th anniversary, we have the KC strip steak. A couple of appetizers I strongly suggest the mushrooms. They were absolutely phenomenal."
"Everything about this place was yes yes yes! The food, the ambiance, the service! I stumbled across this place as I was craving caribbean and this place had some of the best reviews. It completely lived up to them!"
"I visited for dinner on a Tuesday evening and service was fast and welcoming from the door. Someone greets you as soon as you enter to seat you at one of the intimate tables with a view of the creative mural that seems to depict river rafting in Jamaica in the colors and shapes of the Jamaican flagI had the pork bao buns and oxtail fried rice. The buns were pillowy soft with thick pork belly pieces and a slaw to cut through the fat and sweetness of the pork. The oxtail fried rice was pure bliss. There's huge chunks of oxtail all throughout and each bite was such a pleasant harmony of flavors between the fresh green onions, tender oxtail bites, and steaming hot soy sauce bathed rice. I am obsessed. It was one of those meals that leave you smiling with every biteI look forward to returning, their brunch menu has a couple of unique entrees that id love to experience"
