Boucherie West Village

Classic, unpretentious French restaurant in a historic building in the West Village. Boucherie is actually a chain, with 4 locations in NYC, as well as Miami, DC, and Chicago, but it feels like a cozy local gem. They offer brunch, lunch, and dinner menus daily, along with fantastic wine and cocktail lists. My husband and I walked in at 10pm without a reservation on a Saturday the week of Christmas, which felt like a miracle in such a busy season. We were seated next to the Christmas tree. Service was warm and inviting, and we loved the 80's disco soundtrack. We started with reasonably priced French wines by the glass and (complimentary) crusty sourdough bread, before moving on to the best French Onion Soup (Soupe a'Oignon) I have ever had. The Bisque De Homard was good but less impressive; I wish it had more lobster meat. My husband got the Steak Frites, which was a large portion for $52 and perfectly cooked. I opted for the Salade Mesclun et Croquettes de Chèvre, which featured fresh, crisp greens and huge balls of delicately crisp fried goat cheese. Highly recommended.

i recently dined at Boucherie in the West Village, and it was a fantastic experience! The restaurant has a spacious layout--cozy yet elegant--with an inviting open kitchen.We started with the French onion soup, which was rich and flavorful, topped with perfectly melted cheese. For my main course, the ribeye was delicious--cooked to perfection, juicy, and tender with a lovely char.To finish, we indulged in the Basque cheesecake, which was creamy, slightly tangy, and simply divine!Boucherie truly exceeded my expectations with excellent food and warm and attentive service. Great dinner!

Came here for a birthday dinner, specifically for the steak. The ambiance is wonderful, this is a gorgeous restaurant. Unfortunately they seated us at a puny table right next to a large tree that felt intrusive. Servers came by several times to give very vague advice on food and drink options, but then disappeared when it came time to place our orders. Waited a good 10 mins though the restaurant was nearly empty on a Monday night. Got the Sauvignon Blanc (very good), the Caesar salad (nothing special about this), and the filet de boeuf (average). Everything was expensive but honestly didn't hit the spot. The steak was $62 and not quite cooked at the requested medium rare. It came with two pathetic peppers and a salad they would not let me substitute, even though I'd had a salad appetizer. This to me is the mark of a poor restaurant. The best part of the meal was definitely the wine and the dessert (we got the sorbet trio to share--complete with candle and 'happy birthday' engraved piece of chocolate, a nice touch). I wanted to be impressed, but I'll be going elsewhere for my steak dinner.

My boyfriend and I visited Boucherie for our anniversary dinner in December and unfortunately it didn't quite meet our expectations. While the atmosphere was lovely (especially with the Christmas decorations) the food itself was nothing special. We ordered escargot and a French onion soup to share as appetizers - both were decent and probably the best part of our meal. We then each ordered entrees. My steak was supposed to be medium rare and I'm not sure how it was cooked but it was so difficult to cut into and chew. I didn't end up finishing it! My boyfriend's duck was fine on the other hand, but it ended up giving him a stomach ache. There isn't anything particularly bad about Boucherie but for the hefty price tag I don't think it's worth it especially when there are so many other spots to try in NYC.

My fiancé and I came here for an early birthday celebration. Inside the restaurant has a warm, romantic feel but also is very crowded. This was a Saturday night so the restaurant was packed but thankfully we had a reservation. We opted for a bottle of white wine and split the French onion soup and grilled octopus. They brought out a basket of bread along with butter which was a nice snack as we waited for our food. Both appetizers were good but we weren't wowed. We both had steak as our entree. I had the steak frites and he had the ribeye. The steak was cooked and seasoned well, the fries crispy, and the salad light and refreshing. To end the meal, we had the yuzu matcha tart. It wasn't too tart or sweet and had the earthiness from match. A nice sweet treat to end our night. We overall had a good night but would try other restaurants considering the cost was not justifiable for a slightly above average meal.

Really good. I love the ambiance of the restaurant. They decorated it very well and put it together in a way that is very comfortable. I sat outside and it was nice.The service could have been better. I felt like because I was a solo diner that I was forgotten a bit. I get it. Still a little lame.The food was also good. Maybe a bit above average? Eggs, fish, cream cheese... all good. Nothing crazy. I enjoyed it but don't think I'll be rushing back.More like a 3.5, rounding up.

One of the best brunch spots in the city. Great food and great drinks. Their croissant is so fresh and amazing, and I love their butter as well. I got an omelette with mushrooms and cheese, it was so incredibly soft and melted in my mouth. The side of potatoes and caramelized onions did not disappoint. Our server was really nice and was able to accommodate a last minute party change.

Great ambiance and even better food. The service was also fantastic. This will become a regular spot for date nights.

Duck confit was delish! duck itself was super tender, veggies not bad, but wish portion size was bigger

Amazing service and food! The vibe is also so cute 10/10 recommend coming here! Also the staff is so nice!!
