Went for brunch and i think it's a more casual grab/go/selfserve spot. Service felt minimal / you had to ask for it, which if good if thats what you want, just not what I was expecting. For example our water was never refilled after we sat down.

Really solid casual brunch spot in the neighborhood. Love the St. Lucian flair on the menu since the standard American classics tend to get a bit basic/boring to me (oops). When I first came in the summer, my partner and I shared a fried salt fish pocket, the BEST sandwich and the breakfast burrito. We each ordered a specialty iced latte as well and I remember enjoying the entire meal. V delicious but our only complaint was that there was no AC on a sweltering hot day.We returned last week and had a more comfortable experience (since it's the dead of winter now!) and my partner got the BEST again - he drenched it in the hot sauce and inhaled the whole thing himself. For me, I went with the stewed chicken sandwich this time and loveddd it, especially with the side of pickled veggies. So tasty and what a unique sandwich/brunch item. Would def get again. We also tried the chicken Caesar wrap which was just alright - if you've been on chicken caesar wrap-tok this one had avocados in it which was... not what I was expecting. If dining in, you can grab any table, scan the QR code for the menu and order/pay straight on your phone - again, super casual.

This was not a good experience at all. I have been to Qathra in the past on many occasions and I was disappointed. The menu was good. But everything else was just bad. 1. The establishment seemed like it was under construction. If not, it's a mess. There was a large puddle of water in the front where you place your order and flies congregating. I want to know if I'm supposed to see that and still place an order. 2. The host barely paid attention to us and I was like let me just be patient and calm. But he wasn't attentive given it wasn't crowded at all. I won't be back. But I pray their establishment comes together and is enjoyed by the community.

Got two ice mochas ($7 each). It's expensive as they use the regular 16oz medium size cups. Drink is good but I would go to Connecticut muffin next door for their iced mocha. They do the same thing with a large size cup

Had the most amazing experience at Blue Star Parlor this afternoon! What a gem! I can't believe I hadn't heard of it before. I was on Google Maps looking for a place to have lunch with my mom today and came across this place after 15 minutes of searching. I'm so happy I came across it!It's a quaint cafe on Cortelyou road a couple doors down from the flower shop/bar "Sycamore." When we got there, there were a few people seated out back and one patron on the interior. Perfect timing! We ordered the ginger turmeric tea and the Saint Lucian haute cacao hot drinks to start. I had the hot cocoa with coconut milk. Delish!!!For our meals, my mom ordered the passion fruit pancakes with a side of eggs. I decided to treat myself to the B.E.S.T. (Biscuit Egg Sausage and Tomato croissant sandwich). It consisted of House Made Lamb Sausage, Tomato, Chipotle Aioli and Mini Omelet Sandwiched in a Butter Biscuit. I was pleased to find out that I ordered the same thing that the owner had just finished snacking on. I knew then that I made a good choice! I cannot speak enough of how great everything was--the no-frills setting, exceptional service, quality food, and hospitality! Sherman, the owner, shared a bit of history about the place. It's been around since 2015 but he grew up in the neighborhood and wanted to pay homage to his Saint Lucian roots by opening the cafe there. I cannot wait to be back! Thanks for an excellent experience, Sherman! See you soon!

This is in the spot that used to be Qathra. I was sad to see Qathra close, but this place is almost as good. The still have the nice back patio and indoor seating, the restroom. You order outdoors now instead of indoors. There's a good menu if you're looking for a meal, even for vegetarians, and they make good espresso coffees. It looks a bit untidy inside, but I think they're still figuring things out.

This is truly a neighborhood spot, and it's great. They have recently changed their name to Blue Star Parlor, but it's the same people working there. They genuinely seem to care about the neighborhood and community, and their espresso drinks are good and strong. The backyard area is so great if you have a kid and want to keep them contained. I had a baby right before the start of the pandemic, and this place was one of the first to open up outdoor seating and get heaters. They kept their bathroom available when other folks had theirs closed. I can't eat wheat but my little guy is always psyched to eat their muffins. And I love that they have "muffin tops" which are a perfect size for the toddler/pre-schoolers. Now I come with my laptop to drink tea and use the Wi-Fi in a quiet spot. :)

We live nearby and passed this place so many times because it looks so unassuming. After going in once we're now regulars. It's one of my favorite places in Brooklyn. The food is amazing, especially the weekend brunch. The passion fruit pancakes are incredible. Also the crump cakes and breakfast burrito with hot sauce. The coffee is expensive, but good, especially the pumpkin spice latte (which is thick and creamy). The food and pastries are more than worth it. The inside isn't beautiful or anything, it's got a hole in the wall vibe, but it's a true hidden gem. Plus the staff is super nice.
