Blue Ribbon Sushi & Steak

Having reservations at 7pm, we walked into a quite packed restaurant which is always a good sign. The restaurant looked pristine, and very upscale. Having a look at their specials, I immediately opted in for their live scallop. When this arrived, my jaw was on the ground. The presentation alone was mind-blowing. We were even explained the "skirt" part of the scallop was served with a special sauce. This was an amazing starter that oozed freshness. For mains, I opted in for their Sushi Deluxe Platter. This includes 10 pieces of nigiri and a roll. Each and every piece was expertly formed with perfect seasoned sushi rice. Each fish was at its optimum quality and showcased their own unique and distinct characteristics. I also decided to add an order of their Hokkaido Uni and O-Toro. The uni was fresh, slightly briny and had a subtle sweetness to it. The o-toro was rich, and completely melted in my mouth. An excellent piece of nigiri worth every penny. Another main entree which was ordered was their American Domestic Wagyu Steak from Mishima Ranch. The presentation of this dish also was stunning. The steak itself was juicy, tender and cooked to the perfect requested medium rare. There was a slight hiccup in terms of timing with our dishes. The steak came significantly faster than the sushi entrees. By the time the steak was almost done being eaten, the sushi entrees finally arrived. This came with many sincere apologies and a dessert on the house. This was a very kind and unexpected gesture. What would have been a 4-star easily goes to a 5-star review based on their immediate recognition of the timing with the dishes and their ability to make up for it in a very sincere and honest way. Overall, a great experience and I can confidently say this is some of the best sushi I've ever eaten.

There are few places that offer "the perfect dinner" for me and this is definitely one of them. When you pair two of my favorite foods (steak and sushi) in their most elevated form, it's hard for me to not eat way more than I should have, which is exactly what I did. The NY strip is simply amazing. Perfect cooked tender steak with invigorating garnishes that work seamlessly to placate the palate. The sushi is exactly as you'd expect from Blue Ribbon - fresh and delightfully tasty in all respects. Even the California roll with blue crab is indulgently lovely. The gem salad was a nice accompaniment along with the nori fries and the meal finished perfectly with a delicious matcha Creme brûlée. The service was great and the ambiance was perfect. It was also just steps away from the garden so it was a lovely pre-concert meal. There's no way I'm not coming back here for another round of the same exact meal ...

Amazing food, amazing service, sleek ambient location. Blue Ribbon offered the total package for a casual client dinner. Great cocktail & wine list, lots of easily shareable apps, great steak selection and very fresh fish. Our server made our experience fantastic and the entire team was so attentive. Would recommend the Australian waygu, crispy rice, and lychee martini.Thank you Blue Ribbon am for such a great night, topped off with delicious desserts

Located across the street from MSG it's a great place to go before an event. Love the high ceilings. Great happy vibe. Drinks a great, steak frites served w fries are great. The onion rings are nice n crispy n perfect salted. Service is courteous, attentive n friendly. I'll definitely come back n try other things.

Huge menu, so many options for a large groupThe Wagyu fries were my favorite part of the order! You could really taste the Wagyu on the fries and they had a nice crisp. The portions are good but nothing else really stood out to me

I ordered steak frites for delivery via DoorDash. I had very high expectations for a $44 entree. It was a let down..The nonexistent presentation made me feel like a made a mistake. But once I plated it and cut the steak, I felt better. The tiny piece of meat unraveled into a prettier sight, although it still looked smaller and less impressive than the photo that tempted me into this order. Once I took a bite the rollercoaster ride dropped down again, as the meat was very chewy. Then I dipped it into the sauce that came with it and the rollercoaster took me back up. The sauce really saved this meal - super buttery and umami!French fries..honestly wtf. They were so salty that they were almost inedible. Soggy and salty. It was terrible.. so overall it was very mediocre. I will never order steak frites at Blue Ribbon again. Do better!

Went with a friend for dinner before a show after I sang its praises when I went a few months ago for my birthday.My friend and I expressly went for the purpose of the oxtail and bone marrow fried rice which was slightly disappointing as it was not as rich and flavorful as we anticipated but was still very good. The 10 piece sushi and sashimi platter was fantastic.Our server was very sweet and attentive and the atmosphere is wonderful. Definitely recommend for a nice meal before going across the street to MSG.

My 100th review and it's going to one of my favorite places to dine, Blue Ribbon Sushi & Steak!I am a longtime fan of the Blue Ribbon family of restaurants and have been to most of the locations and iterations in the city, so I was super stoked when this one opened last autumn in my office building, featuring two of my favorite foods, sushi and steak! The food is superlative. The sushi is first grade as expected - extremely fresh and melt-in-your-mouth good. The lunch menu is a great value for the quality, and includes items such as sushi/sashimi, donburi, and entree salad with choice of added proteins. Steaks are also fantastic, and flawlessly prepared - I actually prefer the steak here than at many of the top steakhouses in NYC (though some different sorts of offerings, to be sure). If you're just dipping in your toes, you really cannot go wrong with the steak frites ("the house specialty"), tender and plump, and a steal at that price point. I'm normally not crazy about sauce on my steak but the accompanying miso pepper sauce is subtle and rather good. Wagyu fat fries are to die for. Other proteinous mains include lamb chops, pork chop, salmon, sword fish, and roasted chicken. The wine, sake and cocktail list is lengthy yet thoughtful. I savored my hoku martini, potent and brisk. Service is terrific as also to be expected. Staff are warm, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. My water glass is never left to languish. If you sit at the bar you can watch the sushi chefs work their magic.The restaurant is located inside the Penn 1 building, and is usually bustling during prime meal hours and popular with the area office crowd at lunchtime, but so far I've had no problems getting a last-minute reservation. The interior decor is a plush dark oak with warm lighting, earthy and masculine - ideal for those power lunches. This BR restaurant and BR Brasserie in SoHo are my favorite, followed by BR Sushi at Columbus Circle.

Wow did we have a great meal and experience here! Top notch service - very attentive but not annoying servers and the vibe of the restaurant was relaxed but classy. Roomy for a NYC dining room and it was a nice comfortable noise level so you could enjoy your meal and have a nice conversation.The food was delicious. We had both steak and sushi and I'll post the pics.We are excited to try the locations in Vegas and L.A. sometime and definitely felt we chose well.I don't have a single negative thing to add. It was all good!
