Bird Pepper

First thing I noticed was this is a really nice space. Two floors and it fits for a date night, friends meetup or a large party. I came on a Sunday for a large birthday brunch. I think there were about 15 or more of us and the restaurant was able to accommodate us downstairs. I ordered the steak and eggs and it was honestly delicious. The steak was cooked medium like I asked and it was a nice cut. Most of us added the unlimited mimosas to our orders as well. Everyone said their food was good so I can't wait to go back and try their dinner menu.

My reservation was for a party of 14, for a 7:15 reservation. We all arrived on time but were seated at 8:pm. They had one waitress for our table & she was not exclusively serving us. Our entrees came out one at a time, which would have been fine if it came out within a good timeframe apart. But each person waited at least 15 minutes to get their order. By 10pm, some of us didn't get our order. I ended up canceling my order.They didn't have salmon, they didn't have mint to make mimosas, the food was cold & the jerk shrimp was over cooked. My guests enjoyed the fried snapper. I had to get up from the table to seek the manager out to voice my complaint . She was apologetic & explained that there was an issue in the kitchen, but that was all. She never came to the table to see if we finally got our orders or to apologize to my guests. They ended up taking 25% off the bill. Which to me was not enough, but by that time everyone was too tired & frustrated to argue. This was my worst dining experience!!!!!!

Bird pepper was a really great experience. The ambience and decor of the restaurant was really nice. It's great for date night, girls night, guys night, birthdays or any kind of celebrations. They accommodate large parties. Service was really good. The hostess greeted us really well at the door and was patient with us as we waited for our whole party to show up. She offered to let us sit at the table without the whole party, but we wanted to wait for the party so we did. We were celebrating a birthday so they definitely made it a little extra special. We were there on a Friday night and the DJ was really good. The music was very diverse, but the majority of it wasSoca and reggae.I wasn't able to take pictures of all the food on the table, but we had the jerk wings, the curry mussels and salmon cakes for appetizers. Everything was well seasoned and tasted really good. The curry mussels were a 10 out of 10, so I highly recommend them. The curry sauce that it was in was so rich, well seasoned , and set at the perfect temperature. I didn't have an alcoholic drink this time, but everyone who did have one on the table was pleased. One person did say her Luichi martini was more sweet than strong so she was not too impressed. The entrées on the table were assorted so I can't speak to everyone's experience with their food. I do know no one complained so that is a good thing. I had the salmon burger with sweet potato fries and a side of Callaloo. My only complaint is it was slightly too dry and that was probably because I told them to cook it well done. I should have said medium, so it would retain some of its moisture, but overall it was a good meal. The callaloo was good. I would revisit for appetizers.

I went here on Sunday for 3pm brunch with a group of 8. I didn't know the majority of the group so I didn't take pics of their food. It wasn't crowded when we arrived but it did get busy as time went on. They had a live DJ which played a great mix of music.The ambiance and decor in here is beautiful and very chic and modern. It's also pretty spacious with a good amount of seating. The velvet seats are so comfortable which is an added plus. This is a good spot for anything ranging from a casual outing to a date night or special celebration. The service was pretty good. Shay was our server and she was friendly and efficient. She was familiar with the menu and made some good suggestions. She was also good with correcting minor issues we had with our food. Drinks: most of us indulged in the bottomless brunch option for $60, which included an entree + 90 mins of mimosas/bellinis. Too bad everyone ordered the passion fruit without even thinking and we didn't make it to a second round to try a different flavor lol but the passion fruit was good! I also tried the Tiffany mimosa which was good as well. Food: I started with the passion fruit patron wings and they were NO BUENO! We did not like the flavor at all so we swapped them for the mango wings which were soo much better. I had the salmon entree with my brunch, which came with steamed kale and rice and peas. The kale was good but I personally don't think rice goes with salmon. Mashed potatoes would've have been a better pairing. My friend ate my rice and loved it . I ordered a side of mac and cheese which was really good. My friend had the steak and eggs with home fries entree with her brunch. I don't eat steak but it was huge and looked really good and she said it was. I will say the portion sizes are great considering the prices, so they're worth it. I will definitely go back to try the regular menu and some other items and would definitely recommend here.

This is a nice spot if you want Caribbean inspired food with great music. They didn't serve the most authentic Caribbean dishes, but you can definitely get oxtail and jerk here. I got the Island Pizza with oxtail and it was pretty good, I would get it again. They play largely Dancehall and Soca music! The service was decent, nothing bad to say.

Came here for happy hour after work and I was pleased. Greeted upon entry from the lovely host. Sat at the bar the bartender/ server went thru the menu with me and gave some great recommendations also friendly. I got the honey garlic wings which were spot on. Nice crispy coating, very flavorful. And a nice portion happy hour is $10 drinks and 6 wings. The menu was very impressive I will be back to try the rest of the entree's looked very delicious. The decor is chic but casual, very clean and neat. The Moscow mule was very refreshing and the cranberry and vodka was made ok alil bit much on the vodka but still ok. Great for groups, dates, girls night. Plenty of seating and a long bar. I will be back

The hostess was super dry and unwelcoming, not sure if she is part of ownership, management or what, but for the good money people spending in there, yes I want to be greeted warmly and with a smile. Waitress took about 15 minutes to come to the table. Food didn't take too long to come out, timing was pretty reasonable. Oxtail wasn't fall off the bone and texture was a tough for my liking. The texture of the lamp chops wasn't as soft as I expected base on price point. I will say the flavor was A1. Now The good....the food runners and busboys work hard. The decor is nice. The vibe is vibey, especially with the dj going. Music is played at an elevated level, so you can definitely have fun, eat, drink and enjoy yourself. Upon leaving, no goodnight, thank you for visiting from hostess. Service Service Service...I can't express how far good service goes, especially downtown Brooklyn.

Sad that the old Piquant bottomless brunch is gone but Bird Pepper is a nice addition to the Flatbush neighborhood. I love caribbean food and they do it right. They have a nice hh special Mon-Fri until 7pm. Got to try both the spicy marg (very spicy so beware!) and the passion fruit mojito (not super sweet but very tasty and strong). Service was great, our server checked on us often and made sure we had everything we needed. They play a nice mix of old school soca and reggae. Love that the menu is on ipads and you can see photos of each menu item. Had the crab cakes which were a small portion but crispy and flavorful and I enjoyed the dip on the side. I think the hibiscus lamb chops were a showstopper. The glaze was sweet and sticky and the lamb chops were seasoned well! They gave a huge portion of mashed potatoes to go with it and steamed vegetables which were perfectly cooked. Had a couple of bites of the mac and cheese that was creamy and had an insane cheese pull! I would definitely come back for dinner or even happy hour! Rating: 4.5/5 stars.

This place is a train wreck. I really wanted to like this restaurant but didn't. We were in the area for a concert and wanted to grab dinner and drinks with friends beforehand. Service was terrible. The drinks took way too long to make and when they came out they were watered down as the ice had melted. The server told us the bar is backed up but if the ice completely melted in the glass it seems there's also an issue with the movement of drinks from the bar to the tables. We saw multiple drinks on the side of the bar just sitting and we know this is likely what happened with ours. We ordered wings for appetizers and those came out delayed but luckily they were good. The entrees we ordered never came out. We waited and kept calling the server over and she apologized but never brought out our food. With only a few minutes remaining until the concert we had to leave without eating. The music and atmosphere were both good but since this is a restaurant the food needs to come out. It's unacceptable. The restaurant should re-evaluate its service and the functionality of how the kitchen and bar are run. The current strategy does not work. Until changes are made, I do not recommend.

My bff took me here just last week for girls night .The vibe was really nice on a Friday night , the music was really good as well. Inside was giving grown and sexy. The servers were so nice which made things flow very well . I am a picky eater and she took her time to go over the food and drink menu . We all got different food and drinks for the night , however collectively we agreed the food was amazing . I want to go back again and I would highly recommend this place as well .
