Great food and service. Highly recommend going during the pasta happy hour. Allows you to try multiple options from the menu with perfectly sized options. That being said, come hungry. After happy hour they switch from a la carte to their tasting menu.Have not tried yet but will be back for sure given the food and the whole vibe of the place.Side note: a lot of pregnant friendly dishes on the menu. They also seem fairly accommodating within reason for restrictions/requirements.

Interesting concept for a restaurant (all the dishes are shareable and you either have to order 3 dishes per person for $69pp or the tasting menu for $98pp). Ambiance is quite eclectic as they said a lot of their supplies are sourced from thrift or vintage stores. Gave a homey feel to the restaurant.Hospitality was a mixed bag. The host was dealing with a conflict when we walked in and didn't even say hello to us when we introduced ourselves. Kind of just ignored us and walked us silently to our table.Food was solid but you can get better for the amount of money you'll spend. Pastas were my favorite but overall some dishes were too salty while others lacked flavor.

Oh. My. GUT!!!Half-price happy hour pasta???!!!Yassssss!!!From best to less best (but still awesome), get the Spaghetti (colatura, clams, seabeans, garlic, breadcrumbs), the Mafaldine (red wine brisket rib ragu, parmigiana chive), and the Papparedelle (mushrooms, crème fraiche, parmigiana, lemon). But seriously, all were chewy, tasty and loaded with comforting flavor, and trying to rank them was like choosing between my favorite children. Just come here and gorge.Pro tip: If you can make it before 5:30pm on a weeknight, you're unlikely to wait for a table. After that, good luck.

The food was good. They were very attentive to my gluten and dairy allergy. I did the 3 course price fixe. I started out with the sweet potato appetizer. For pasta I did a gluten-free pork pasta. Then I finished with the baby rack ribs. I really did enjoy everything, but I had asked in advance if anything was spicy, and they said not at all, but I found the pasta and the ribs to have a little kick. It ended up being a lot of food (and expensive). I wish they had an ala carte option so you don't have to pay for and order 3 courses.

Been meaning to try this restaurant for awhile. Glad I made it! The restaurant is a small place in a nice quaint area of the West Village. Our Waiter Anthony was so nice and friendly. He helped my friend and I out with figuring out the menu as it was our first time at the restaurant. We missed the happy hour and opted for the prix fixe dinner - 3 courses for $55. Also for the bottle of wine where it's $40 for the month of August. We ordered the following dishes, all were very good and we were so full we had to take some home:- buratta - burnt ends- parpadelle - agnolotti - fried chicken - ribs Would love to come back here and try out their pasta happy hour next time!

Come here if you'd like to experience a casual dose of racism buttered with a series of microaggressions. I've been a west village resident for 3+ years now and so wanted to check out this spot. Everything was awful. Super disappointed with the lack of hospitality and service. I am a brown woman and came here with my black friend. We had a dinner reservation and the staff couldn't seat us in the dining room, they instead, placed us in the cafe. It was my friend's birthday so we inquired about the seating and the staff coldly told us the dining room was for reservations only -- even though we had a reservation. After making a few requests, they reluctantly put us in the dining room and rushed us out within an hour. It was dehumanizing and incredibly disgusting. Also everyone seated in the dining room was white as wonder bread so go figure. The food was also not great. The fried chicken had no seasoning whatsoever. My friend took our leftovers home and had to rebake them with actual southern spices.

I'd rate Bird Dog four and a half stars. We snuck into Bird Dog on a Saturday night just in time for the early bird special. Fortunately, we were able to score two seats at their three person bar counter. Sitting at the bar, I immediately noticed some nice options for wines by the glass. They have an approachable yet intriguing list of wines by the bottle too.Bird Dog is a unique fusion of Southern American and Italian cuisines. My wife was set on the pastas for entrees, so I figured we'd give the southern portion a shot for appetizer. We shared the hush puppies. They came out piping hot, so I cut the first couple in half to cool off. When cutting in, I noticed a thin yet ultra crispy batter. It had a great crunch biting into it. They were served with honey butter which I believe might also be used with the chicken sandwich a couple doors down. The honey butter is ultra savory and the hush puppies allow the butter to standout. For the main course, we seized the opportunity to enjoy the half priced pastas. My favorite and the highlight of the meal was the papardelle in a short rib ragu. It's one of the best dishes I've eaten this month. It's a must order here. The short rib is ultra succulent featuring some big meaty portions. The sauce is bold and delicious. It has the Sunday gravy depth to it. The sauce would be wonderful on anything, so the bowl of fresh made pappardelle was a more the sufficient vehicle for the sauce. We also had the agnolotti filled with ricotta in a honey sauce. Usually Italian food feels like it costs an arm and two legs in the West Village these days, but the happy hour promotion made it very budget friendly. Our meal came out to about $45 for an appetizer and two pastas before factoring in tip. The service was attentive. Staff was consistently floating around in case we needed anything. Our water was consistently topped off. Felt like a good culture too as the staff was engaging and their personalities came through. Pacing of the food was on point. There was one spacious, gender neutral restroom. The restaurant was on the smaller side but they managed to cram in about fifteenth seats making it an intimate experience.

I have wanted to try the pasta happy hour for a while and finally did it on a Sunday; well worth it!I was surprised that there was no one there, happy hour is only outside. They have pasta happy hour everyday and it's half off all their pastas. We ordered the mafaldine and cavetelli pasta, both were so good! For the price, it was a really good deal. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the flavors were delicious. This is definitely a new favorite spot and will be returning for pasta happy hour!

Spice & BarrelVisited for the "pop-up".Apparently this is a "homage to English pub classics". TLDR; sadly, it's not.The Pie was just weird - a few pieces of dry shredded chicken with some vegetables but no sauce or gravy. I've never seen anything like it in England. I don't think it was even baked in the pie casing (which was solid and inedible).Vindaloo Carrots were nice, although more of a cinnamon/garam masala flavour than Vindaloo. The Lamb Kebab was nice.
