My husband ordered the old fashioned and I ordered the double down. We ended up switching because we liked each other's drinks more! I prefer old fashioneds when they are less straight booze and my husband prefers straight booze.The place is super small but the bartender is very welcoming and helps find spaces for everyone. The drinks are good though slightly pricey ($18 a pop). They give free water and are a friendly cozy spot. Standing only so no reservations required.

Overall rating: 4.8This is already a clearly popular place, so don't need to say much. Even just being in a standing room, the server was so nice! When a spot cleared up, he shuffled us towards a standing area with a bar-like table. I only got one drink and it was delicious! Seems like a great pre-game spot if I'm going out in the area. It was getting too crowded for me around 9:30pm bc I'm an oldie so I just got one drink. But I liked the vibe!

This was a great cocktail bar. My daughter and I lucked out and got the last two seats at the bar as we walked in. It is a small place but very cozy and full of fun people. They were having a Halloween-themed evening, and we had the greatest time. They had a smoke machine going and low lighting. They were playing various Halloween and Heavy metal tunes which made for the perfect Halloween spirit. I have never seen a larger collection of bitters and Amaro in one place. I am a cocktail fan, to say the least, but This took the cake. There was so much to try, but I drank their spin on a French 75 all evening. It was SO GOOD! It was also served in an awesome Halloween-themed glass.I will be back for certain...you should go here and have a drink or ten. The bartenders here are Masters of their craft.

My friends and I stumbled in here, not realizing "bitters" was in the name and all the cocktails feature bitters. Won't be returning as I do not like bitters.

While wandering through the East Village, I happened to come across Amor y Amargo, and what a delightful surprise it was! This intimate bar specializes in bitters-forward cocktails, offering a menu that is both bold and innovative. Each drink is crafted with precision, pushing the boundaries of traditional flavors in the best way possible. From complex herbal notes to expertly balanced bittersweet combinations, every sip was a new experience. The bartenders were incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain the unique ingredients and techniques behind their creations. If you're someone who enjoys exploring new and exciting flavor profiles, this place is an absolute must-visit. I can't wait to return and try more of their expertly curated concoctions!

If you're a cocktail person this is the place for you! The bartenders really know what they're doing and encourage you to step out of your comfort zone. This place is definitely a bit quirky (i.e. you might be teased if you ask for a beer or for a margarita). Awesome ambiance.

Corrine was superb. Knowledgeable without being too... ya know. She was great. If you like unique cocktails and a cool vibe, check this place out.

Drinks are strong, but purposeful and intense. Averaging around 25% ABV and some of them hitting up to 31%+! These drinks will take you in for a ride, but the intensity, complexity, and long lasting mouthfeel will really feel you in. Granted, the alcohol is very strong and will probably get a lot of people, but it's worth it.Sharpie: lots of citrus touch, intense syrup, sweet, fruity, slight butters. The classic for a good reason, although very viscous and that gives it more if an in your face than an elegant, long lasting flavor. Stranger: even more citrus with lemon and orange, fresh, lots of bitters that last a while, very herbaceous. Favorite drink of the night Farewell to hell: tasted like licorice, so lots of anise and fennel, that's from the vermouth. Didn't have the complexity of the other drinks as the vermouth really overpowered. Still pretty fresh and citrus was a slight touch.

What a great find! Was exploring the East Village and on the way to another bar, but saw this place and felt compelled to try it out. Ended up being a great experience - nicely crafted cocktails with an emphasis on amaros and bitters. Menu apparently changes all the time which I can imagine only keeps it more interesting. Excellent bartender (AJ) who really knew his stuff and made the experience even better. Seating is limited but plenty of space in the standing bar as well. Glad I ran across this place!
