This place is finding its stride. The seafood menu is very experimental. When they get it right it is awesome.Everyone orders the crispy rice tuna. It's not the best combo with hot rice and cold tuna. However! The rest of the menu - when they get it right, you win! The must eats are: the Kimchi mussels - rice paper chicken quesadilla - and if they have it, the Thursday dungeoness crab for $30.And who doesn't love oyster happy hour.Definitely worth a visit.

Ama Raw Bar is one of my favorite spots for happy hour oysters. I've only been to the East Village location in the past, but this location is on par with it. Came by right after work on a Wednesday and the place wasn't too busy. I made a res on Resy anyway just to be safe. There were two options for HH oysters -- Chesapeake, VA ($1.25) and New Brunswick, CA ($2). You can only order 2 dozen at a time. Both options were good, but loved the oysters from New Brunswick because they were so meaty and sweet. There are a few cocktails on the HH menu as well. Lychee Martini is strong, but I especially enjoyed the Spicy Palawan (choice of mezcal or tequila). We also ordered the HH small plates:YUZU PEPPER SHRIMP: I would hold off on this. It just tasted like mediocre walnut shrimp. MISO COD CAKES: Nice, flaky and a great source of protein! Probably of my favorite of these HH dishes. CHICKEN RICE PAPER QUESADILLA: seemed like a rendition of a Vietnamese rice paper pizza, but solely with cheese and chicken; can't say I loved this, but I didn't hate it. The sauce that came with the quesadilla was delicious though. I must say the one highlight dish not on the HH menu are the Drunken Mussels. The broth the mussels are braised in is extremely addictive. It also comes with nori fries, which I love dipping in the broth. This is the one dish I always find myself ordering by the end of the night.

This was so cute! We came here to celebrate a a friend's new job and we had so much fun. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive, she seemed to have a lot fun at work which was nice and refreshing to see! Food was yummy, the mussels were the star of show. You can't come here without getting those! Everything was we ordered was good - lobster ramen (4/5) , miso glazed salmon (4/5), crispy rice (5/5), and some other apps. I'd come back!

Quick shoutout to *AMA's Raw Bar*--because this happy hour was a win! Oysters for just $1.25? Say less. And the lychee martini? Only $11 and *so* good. That's a deal in my book! I sat at the bar, vibed in a cute spot, and got great service from the super polite staff. Definitely coming back for happy hour! I only have a photo of the remnants of greatness lol

One of my fav happy hours. I typically go to the east village location but I was in the area so me and friends decided to stop in. Ama never fails to be amazing. They have great specials with $11 lychee cocktails and $1.25 oysters. You can't beat it! The service is always top notch too! I hope they continue to expand and open more locations.

We came here for the first time last night and had a very enjoyable meal. Ama has a great vibe, very vibrant and cozy. The menu was also unique, with Asian influenced drinks and food.Drinks:- Lychee Martini (vodka, lychee purée): I loved, especially since it was with lychee purée- Matcha Paradaisu (tequila, matcha, elderflower, lemon): Not my favorite combination- Spicy Palawan (tequila, jalapeno, calamansi, lime, spicy sesame salt): I just had a sip, but it was definitely spicyFood:- Oysters (6 St. Simon from VA and 6 Bacat from Canada): They were fresh and the Bacat was so nice and smooth.- Toro & Tobiko: I liked the yuzu flavor. Could've been better with more toro--the crispy rice was a little too overpowering.- Sashimi Salad: Nice salad. The dressing tasted like ponzu and I couldn't taste the wasabi at all--which was perfect for me since I don't love wasabi.- Nori Fries: Very flavorful and addictive. Couldn't stop eating them!- Wild Mushroom Fried Rice: Too much sauce--would have preferred lighter.It can get quite loud depending on where you're sitting. So it may not be the best place for an intimate conversation, but it was still nice for couples, especially since they have small dishes and you can try many things. We'd ordered too much food for 2 people, though, and ended up taking some home.

I heard good things about AMA Raw Bar from my friend who moved here. She said the HH is super worth it because the oysters are fresh and the drinks are strong. I definitely agree with her!Staff were very friendly and checked in on us often. + Lychee martini 5/5: Sweet, refreshing, and extremely boozy!+ Oysters 5/5: Fresh and meaty without any sand. The three different sauces all tasted great with the oysters. I liked the ponzu one best!+ Cod cakes 4/5: Nicely fried with great crispy texture. I thought squeezing the lemon juice onto it really helped with the flavor and neutralized any fishiness.+ Yuzu shrimp 3/5: Not bad, but not my favorite. It tasted like cheap Chinese food that's deep fried and covered in flavored mayo. + Rice paper quesadilla 3/5: Interesting take to replace flour tortilla with rice paper. It was a bit dry.Glad I got to try this place for HH!

Love this spot !! They have. Great happy hour deals and now they also have weekend happy hours deal! Love their spicy Palawan (spicy margarita) and lychee martini! And don't forget about their food, tako wasabi, crispy tuna rice sushi, anyone if their mussels with nori fries are amazing! AND pls Don't forget about their oyster Hh deals! I recently tried their mushroom fried rice and hamachi collar which is only limited so pls ask and trust me you won't regret it! Friendly staff and it'll be your next go to spot like me ! They were fresh and not too briney.Hamachi kama was super tender. I personally wished it had less sauce, but my party loved the ponzu sauce.The lychee martini was well flavored and had a prominent alcohol flavor in comparison to the lychee.Open to coming back solely for another HH and more oysters.

Came here with a couple of coworkers for drinks after work around 8:30pm and had the best waitress (shoutout to TIMMI - she's only here Thursdays!) who made sure we got all our food and drinks in order each time she came around. We ordered 2 rounds of oysters - forgot which kinds but there were two so we had half a dozen of each. They were the best oysters I've had in a while!! So smooth and very fresh.Drinks - I had the espresso martini while my companions got the tequila (I think spicy Palawan) and lychee martini. Always been a huge fan of espresso martinis so can say after 3 rounds.. I was in a very good place.Great place for dates or catch ups. Honestly kind of gives a speakeasy vibe as well but you can get food while you drink!
