I recently visited a Ali Baba Mediterranean And Turkish Cuisine restaurant with friends, located in the heart of Midtown. This spot is ideal for large groups, and the best part is you don't need a reservation to enjoy it. The ambiance was laid-back and casual, making it the perfect place to relax with friends. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming vibe of the place. The food was absolutely authentic and very reasonably priced, which made the experience even better. To start, we ordered hummus and pita for the table. The pita was massive and freshly baked, unlike anything I've seen before. It was soft, warm, and perfectly complemented the creamy hummus. For my main dish, I went with my go-to: chicken adana. This dish is a delicious combination of perfectly grilled chicken served with rice, onion salad, and grilled vegetables. The rice was fluffy and full of flavor, making it a wonderful accompaniment to the grilled chicken. The onion salad had just the right amount of tang, adding a nice kick to the dish. The grilled vegetables were also a great addition, bringing a balance of flavors to the meal. For dessert, we decided to try the baklava, and it did not disappoint. The baklava was perfectly sweet, flaky, and packed with rich layers of flavor. It was the perfect way to end the meal on a high note.As a nice touch, the restaurant offered us complimentary tea at the end of our meal. They didn't rush us out either, which we really appreciated. We were able to sit, hang out, and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere without feeling any pressure. All in all, this place really impressed me. The food was amazing, the vibe was laid-back and welcoming, and the prices were very reasonable. Whether you're looking for a relaxed night out with friends or a place to enjoy a tasty meal without needing a reservation, this spot is definitely worth checking out. I'll absolutely be returning to try more of their dishes!

Came here with some friends who were visiting and honestly didn't know much of what to expect. I'm from around the area and Ali baba has been a restaurant in the neighborhood for years, but I actually never went. Not too long ago they moved to this new location and when my friend said they wanted to try Mediterranean food I figured might as well finally go. I have to say overall the service was amazing and the ambience was cool. I only got a picture of the initial bread which was super impressive when it came out. I ordered the eggplant moussaka, and unfortunately was surprised when it arrived with lamb in it as it wasn't listed on the menu and I really don't like lamb. When I asked the waiter if it had lamb in it, he was amazingly accommodating and had me pick out an item I would be able to eat. I ended up getting the chicken skewers which were delicious. Overall great experience, yummy food, and amazing service. I would come back again!

I slightly miss the old location but the new location definitely has a cozy charm. Great food, great service, not much else to say. Slightly more pricey than I'd like to spend but the quality is definitely there!

What a charming place.I had an outstanding meal this evening. From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in good hands with Alp.I started with a small shepherd salad. It was superb. Nicely diced tomatoes, cucumbers, strands of onion, and a touch of green pepper. The seasoned oil was perfect.I then thoroughly enjoyed the Lamb Adana. I lived in Adana, Turkey, for two years. This may have been the best I've had since then, there. The rice and tomato salad it comes with were great. And the thin little bread strips were unique and a super nice touch.I finished with rice pudding and Turkish coffee (orta...medium sugar). The coffee was strong and the rice pudding was delightful with its hints of cinnamon.I had a large bottle of sparkling water. Everything including tip came up to a bit more than $65. In Midtown, that alone is extraordinary.

Here's a rephrased version:We had a wonderful dining experience at Ali Baba last night! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, offering excellent recommendations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. We started with the delectable Muhuarama dip, followed by the flavorful Chicken Shish and the special Citir Kebab. The dip was bursting with flavor, and both entrees were cooked to perfection. I'm thrilled to have found a new favorite restaurant in Manhattan - highly recommended!

Came here for dinner on a Friday evening. It was packed but service was pretty good outside of forgetting our salad that we ordered. We got a bunch of dishes to try and share including:-mixed mezze (all the dips are delicious especially the hummus!)-greek salad-3 orders of the bread (soooo hot and delicious)-fried liver (juicy and not dry at all)-pida with cheese and sausage (recommend to try turkish style pizza. It was cheesy and delicious)-mixed grill platter (came with a lamb chop, lamb kebab, chicken Adana, chicken skewer, beef Patty, rice, and some salad. Only one or two pieces of each so probably good for 1 person or 2 that aren't too hungry)-Adana kebab platter (meat was cooked perfectly and juicy)-special dish that had lamb mixed in a wrap with eggplant (never had anything like that. It was definitely an interesting dish)For dessert we got 2 orders of Baklava and Turkish Tea.If you are looking for good Turkish food in the city, this is the place to go! We devoured all our food so I didn't have time to take photos!

Very friendly and attentive staff. Large menu that has something for everyone. One of our members was not a fan of Mediterranean food but found a great shrimp scampi. This was a pleasant evening enjoying good food at a good price in a cozy, welcoming restaurant.

I love Lebanese/Mediterranean food, and we stumbled on this place a few blocks from our hotel. So happy we did! It was daily clean considered it's in the heart of the city. The food seemed authentic and the service was great. The food was wonderful. The hummus was good, and I really enjoyed the falafels. The lamb shank was great and the chicken thighs and veggies were next level. I would definitely go back to this spot and highly recommend!

Came here for a very early dinner on a Sunday evening. It was quiet inside, only one other table, maybe two. The food was amazing. Lots of flavor and came out quickly. We had the side of vegetables, hummus, and lamb adana. The labneh is a nice touch. They don't have a full bar, just beer, wine, and soft drinks. The staff is nice and welcoming, it did seem there may have been a bit of a miscommunication or possible language barrier with the waitress about something we ordered, but it worked out totally fine. It was slightly warm inside, and the seats were a bit hard and uncomfortable. Overall, so glad I finally checked out this spot! Loved the lightning and ambiance.
