A hidden gem that's sitting in broad daylight in Greenpoint! If I had more of an appetite, I would have gladly eaten more here! Great chef, great staff, and low-key vibes that keep casual but wouldn't feel out of place for a more special occasion. The Peach and Cucumber Salad is simple but elegant in its refreshing presence. It was a hot summers day while I was there, and those crisp cucumbers and sweet, ripe peaches comforted me through the swelling heatwave. Scallop Crudo was a joy with all the ingredients in a symphonic showcase, flexing their strength individually but within harmony. Outside of Michelin restaurants, I can't remember the last time I had a scallop that tasted this good! Even down to three attention if detail with the smattering of fresh red chili slices and grilled kohlrabi was such a joy to experience.

I really enjoyed my time here with a friend. The bartender was so friendly and attentive. The ambiance is chill but quirky. I had a glass of wine, a cider and we shared some bread and olives. The food and appetizer dishes lean towards the unique and spicy variant. I hope to come back soon and recommend this spot when you next find yourself in Greenpoint.

When we arrived for our reservation, on a Saturday night, it was packed and bustling. There were no tables! How would this be possible? "I'll have your table momentarily," the hostess said to us, and just by her assured tone and the look on her face, it was instantly apparent we would be just fine and this was a very well-run establishment.Indeed it was. After a short stop at a bar table to look over the menu, the restaurant moved as if in a ballet, and seated us a in a comfy table in a corner. Everything was fabulous. Everything. The servers, the vibe, the drinks, the food.Achilles Heel is such a gorgeous space, very old Brooklyn, and I feel there are so few of these types of places left. I got hooked on these very intensely flavored gibsons. I asked what was in them exactly. Not content to know only half the details, the server came back, after consulting with the bartender, with an interesting explanation that the base gin was actually house-infused with garlic and leeks. YUM.The food is great, served & plated expertly. I even loved how the omniscient She Wolf sourdough was served. The now Asian-inflected menu is worth exploring and salivating over. The chicken was a home run, but don't sleep on those rice cakes either, it was all just so good.I'd been to AH a million times on lazy Saturday afternoons, but it had been a while since we'd been back, and this was our first dinner. I was kind of blown away? We'll be back soon, and that's the best compliment I can give the team here. Highly recommended.

We did not realize that there was a rotating menu so we were both surprised when we saw the Korean themed dinner menu. I was even more surprised to learn that the chef was Sunny of Banchan by Sunny. The last time I went to a pop up of hers was at the Essex St Marketplace when my friends and I enjoyed the entrees, but felt that the price of the banchan was exorbitant. Thankfully, it seems like she's changed the pricing and the banchan is just charged per plate, and not per person sampling them. We enjoyed the summer salad and the pork belly saam. The service was attentive and kind. We also enjoyed the outdoor space, and liked the proximity to the water front. We are interested to see who the next chef will be!

Gosh, the meal was good! Especially loved the La Sirena cocktail, hot bean dip, braised beef short ribs and sesame mochi cake. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Went on a Saturday night so the music playlist was loud but enjoyable.

I always love the intimate plates that allow you to share, and a good drink. This is that place ! Great drinks and very sweet staff. Candle on the table is always a winner add on for me !The thing I loved the most was seeing the chefs making the food. You can tell the love they all have for their jobs. Nothing greater to see

Fun spot with great music. Chefs rotate through. Loved the sesame mochi cake. The candied squid is the same as what you'd get in the grocery store. Great mock tails.

Was recommend this restaurant by a friend and was excited to try it on a mellow Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately I have to give this place one star. Was compelled to write this review because of food safety issues and how my situation we handled. We opted to sit outside and the inside of the restaurant was full of flies. I understand it is hot and flies are around so I could look past it. I don't look at myself as a bougie person. We ordered a broccolini, grilled shrimp, and friend chicken dish. Some of the servers had a bit of an attitude but that is to be expected at a place like this. I guess when you work at a popular dining establishment in Greenpoint you can act how you want. The broccolini with tahini was really good and we were excited the meal was starting off so well. The shrimp came out next and was looking quite undercooked. The meat still had a translucent color and it wasn't warm. We politely asked the server if this looked normal and they agreed it was undercooked. Monday was around the corner so I could risk a stomach problem. All was good They proceeded to the bring out the chicken after a lengthy wait. Mind you the restaurant was not full by any means so the kitchen must have not been so busy. Out came the chicken and when we cut down the middle it was clearly undercooked. The inside of the meat felt room temperature. This was not acceptable We politely asked the server if the chicken looked undercooked and after gasping they immediately took it away. No one came to check on us for about 20 minutes so we went to get someone's attention so we could get the bill for the broccoli and go try to find somewhere with decently cooked food. We were given quite an attitude when we told them we didn't want to try for a third time to not receive undercooked food. If it was my restaurant I would have let the customer go after wasting their time for almost two hours. I didn't mind paying for the broccoli but I did not leave a tip on the payment machine and the hostess clearly looked bothered by this. I don't think everyone will have an experience like this dining here but just leaving this here as something to consider. Just make sure you double check to see if your food is cooked here before you eat it :)
