Solid brunch spot near broadway. Went for a galentines brunch before moulin rouge. Only an 8 minute walk to the theater. So the location is great! Food was also decent. They leave little muffins for the table which is nice. I got the crab Benedict - pretty good. We got a French toast for the table which was also good. I will say I think they over syrup the sweet dishes. My friend ordered pancakes and they put a lot of syrup on it (including on her side of bacon). Let people decide how sweet they want their pancakes and French toast. Service was just okay. Not super friendly. Cute vibe.

I ate dinner here solo a week or so back.I started with the Hamachi Sashimi. Overall it was good, but the flavor of the blood oranges was overpowering and it masked the fish.As an entree I ordered the Chicken & Waffle. It was decent, for the North I guess, and a bit small, but again, the dish wasn't balanced particularly well as the maple syrup jus was very strong. I did like the side of collards though, I think that should be a requirement for chicken and waffles anywhere that serves it.I didn't get dessert but I did order a Port to finish off the meal and the bartender filled a normal wine glass. Not sure if that's normal here, or if he made a mistake, but it was a very generous pour...The rating of is partially due to the tacky shirts the staff was wearing, just because you're in Hell's Kitchen doesn't mean everything needs to say Heaven & Hell on it, but mostly the incredibly slow service from a waiter who didn't seem to care very much. He looked annoyed every time he came to my table.

Solid brunch spot, especially for a large group in Manhattan. I've dined at 44 & X a few times, each time had been with a table of 6-10. Each time it's seemed like there was at least one other table of the same size. I think they do a great job at accommodating larger tables, even on pretty short notice.I only took photos of my husband's food and my own to not disrupt my fellow diners but the full table enjoyed their food. My husband got the Vermont cheddar greens with fresh herb eggs with sausage. I got the scrambled eggs with mushrooms, bacon and potatoes.Everything tasted very fresh with quality ingredients. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the berries were sweet despite having them in January.

44 & X is a Hell's Kitchen staple! I've been here countless times over the years and never had a bad experience. The staff is always so kind (and good looking) and the food always delicious. They are just so consistent. Love that they still wear the fun Heaven and Hell t-shirts!Since I've been here many times over the years, I knew when we arrived we were being greeted by the owner Scott, who is a total gentleman (and pretty funny). He kindly welcomed us in and sat us at our table for 5. The waiter promptly came over to take orders and was great all evening checking on our needs. If I see short ribs on a menu, I get them. Here they were perfect - tender, juicy, and falling apart. It was served over a bed of smoked gouda mashed potatoes. I could have had a second serving despite being so full because it was that good. One friend had the same as me. There were also 2 steak frites and one filet mignon. Everyone loved their food. I had the Sancerre Les Cailottes which was superb. I will also reference a visit here this past summer where I almost ordered the short ribs, but the waiter said if you always order that get something else, so I tried the pork tenderloin with goat cheese polenta and apricot chutney. If they have that on the menu when you go, it is just as delicious and I would recommend it as well.I live nearby and everytime I walk past at brunch or dinner time they are always packed which is a testament to their reputation after all these years! They also have a side door where you can see into the kitchen and I love to stop and watch the cooks do their thing. Its amazing what they can crank out in such a small space.Side note - they had a sister restaurant down the block 44 1/2 which I still miss to this day!!!!

Solid 4. Short version:Food: 5Service: 5Cleanliness: 5Facility: 2, maybe 3Here's the breakdown -A neighborhood gem in the heart of Hell's Kitchen, 44 & x has been around a while. An upscale, American restaurant, they pride themselves on "reinventing American classics," and to that, their menu is solid whether you come for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Price points are higher than average, and the service and food are aligned with the price point so the value is present. On a recent visit, we sat outside for dinner and brought out-of-town family with us. With impeccable service, we ordered a few drinks, appetizers, dinner, and dessert. The "Tequila for Elephants" cocktail, a blood orange-grapefruit margarita was a favorite, and the mezcal-mango based "Smokewood" cocktail was also good too. They also have a solid wine list. For an appetizer, we got the goat cheese and pistachio soufflé , made well and with balanced flavors, we practically licked the plate clean. (Okay, not really) For entrees, we really enjoyed the ancho chili rubbed pork tenderloin and the sautéed halibut, which was served with vegetables in a medeira emulsion. The fallen chocolate soufflé dessert was the perfect ending to the meal , satisfying that want for a little sweetness balanced out with a Tahitian vanilla gelato. Presentation of tableware, service points, and food were all great, too, however, the overall restaurant could use a little love as it's dated and showing its age for such an upscale and elegant place. If they were to invest in the space as much as they invest into the food and service, it would easily be a 5 star experience.

Came here for dinner with a friend. The interior decor was beautiful and elegant. There was a sleek, fancy vibe to the place. Also, the restrooms were so pretty, lit up in hot pink with candle lights and pink roses all around. I ordered the Pistachio crusted Tilapia, served with roasted sweet potatoes, caramelized brussel sprouts, zucchini, shiitake mushroom, topped with Maine lobster jumbo crab ravioli. The size of the Tilapia was generous with a tasty delicate and nutty pistachio crust. The fish was tender, flaky, and well seasoned. The ravioli was perfectly cooked with plenty of flavorful lobster crab filling. The vegetable medley was fresh and soft. All of this was in a creamy, rich sauce. My friend had the Rack of Lamb crusted with sweet potato and hazelnut. This came with wild mushroom, artichoke gratin, and grilled asparagus. I really enjoyed this, as the lamb was wonderfully succulent, juicy, and slightly crispy on the edges. The sauce was savory and full of flavor pan juices. For dessert, we shared housemade cookies and petits fours. There were 2 of each, so it worked well. We started with the Strawberry Macaron, which was fruity and had a nice chewy consistency, but tasted more like raspberry. Next, we tried the Pistachio and Apricot Cake, which was similar to marzipan and satisfyingly sweet. The Chocolate Crunch Cupcake was rich, deeply chocolate-y, while the frosting was velvety and simply delightful. We had the Lemon Curd Tartlet last, which was light and refreshing with a yummy crunchy crust. Service was wonderful. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, as well as knowledgeable about the menu. Prices are a little on the higher end. I was sad that it had just changed to Spring, because they no longer had the Sticky Toffee Pudding dessert. I would like to return to try the Short Rib, Breast of Duck and hopefully Sticky Toffee Pudding will make a comeback.

Came to this place for lunch on an odd day around 2:30 PM. This place is very beautiful. Inside prices are very reasonable and the food is amazing and so is the help and all their staff , I highly recommend this place if you're in the area I will definitely be coming back.

Went for dinner and this time was very impressed with both food and service! The restaurant was super accommodating to our accessibility needs and didn't blink an eye when friends who had told us they weren't coming started showing up out of nowhere and joining our table. Super laid back for an upscale place, super appreciated. My sea bass, recommended by lovely waiter Jose, was phenomenal. My friends were also very happy with their meals. I think dinner is stronger than brunch here.Lots of seating outdoors including a ramped and heated cabana in the street.

One of our favorite brunch spots in the area. The interior is very warm and friendly with white table clothes. Service is quick - though sometimes a bit too eager to get you out when it's busy. The brunch portions are large - though at their price point they'd have to be. My favorite highlight are the mini muffins they bring instead of bread.

had heard good things about this place from a colleague, but it didnt meet my expectation. maybe it's a brunch menu, but i was not impressed with the food offered. The staffs are really friendly, but we sat at the patio there are homeless walked by begging for food, the staffs were just standing right next to our table not doing anything. I have to admit that they do have really cute drink menu with broadway name twist. and pretty big selection of brunch. I tried their crab cake dish, and the crab cake was disappointing. does not have chunks of crab, instead, more flour inside , and it only came with one medium size crab cake which is about the size of the egg, most of the plate only just filled up with potatoes for $27. I dont see the value of it.
