230 Fifth Rooftop Bar

As soon as we arrived, there were instructions on how to enter the building. Our IDs were checked and we followed further directions to an elevator that whisked us up to the inside level. We chose to sit outside, so we followed another set of stairs to the outside roof. This crisp December evening, we chose to sit out on the roof to enjoy the views and lights of NYC skyline. There are specific instructions on how to proceed at the entrance. Robes and fleece blankets are available for warmth and snuggling. We sat in an igloo with a small fireplace. The fireplace kept the igloo warm and cozy. You choose your own seats, then you go to the bar where you can scan for the menu and the menu is awesome. We ordered Cod Fish and Chips and sushi. The fish and chips were crunchy. Our food was fresh and filled with flavor. I love guacamole and chips and this dip was chunky. The drinks were pricey, but come on this is midtown Manhattan. You know better. I love the atmosphere. As we were exiting around 9 pm, it started to get crowded. I found everyone was very friendly, and great views of Manhattan. You can stay as long as you like, no one will rush you out. As we exited people were lined to enter... so this is obviously "that" spot. A great place to be outside with great drinks in December. I loved it, and I would do it again.

This rooftop has a really cute setup with gorgeous city views--definitely a spot I'd come back to just for the views! Since it's winter, they have heated igloos, which make for a warm place to hang out.That said, it was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday at 5 PM, so if you're looking for a lively crowd, this might not be the place. The drinks are on the smaller side and a bit pricey--a mojito was about $15 but felt smaller than your average cocktail.Overall, it's a solid spot if you're here for the views or a special event, but I'd probably only return if something was going on.

This is a must visit place. While the drinks aren't exactly cheap, the views make up for it. We came for Santacon and the vibes were immaculate. The holiday drinks were festive and our favorite was the holiday hot chocolate. The entire place was decorated for Christmas and we were able to snag a seat in a heated "igloo" on the rooftop. There are two floors too. The bottom floor is more of a loud music bar scene and the rooftop has the iconic views in a more relaxed setting. Great for if you're not sure what you're looking for but know you want to be out. Looking forward to coming back here when I visit the city again.

The last time I visited was 6 years ago! I came for my birthday previously but wasn't able to get an igloo. This time I was, probably because it was a week day. They didn't have all the holiday decor they have now and it's so pretty! Even inside the igloos are decked out. We were seated immediately by a nice host even though there were 6 of us. Unfortunately we went on a FREEZING day and the heat inside the igloo wasn't strong enough so we were still cold. It didn't help that every time the door opened the cold hit us. Aside from that the waitress was really friendly and attentive. We all had a mix of Boozy Hot Chocolate, Morgan's Hot Cider, and Hot Toddy. We all enjoyed our hot drinks in the cold temps. The flavor was good in my boozy hot chocolate. It wasn't too sweet or alcohol-tasting. The price is pretty normal at $17. We just had 2 orders of Buffalo Chicken Tenders and French Fries. Those were good too. The price is steep being close to the drink costs. I guess it's nice to experience once in a while but I wouldn't really go back often.

Amazing view, beautifully decorated and themed happy hour drinks! Disclaimer, it's very touristy so expect crowds and photo ops. I had their winter themed happy hour spiked warm apple cider, it was great except, they put a donut with the drink and I never fished it out to eat so it needed up sinking to the bottom and completely disintegrated.

Came here for the view and it was pretty nice. Th Empire State is right in front of you and it's a nice place to chill. We came pretty early on a Friday so there wasn't a long line to get in and it was wet out since the forecast was a bit rainy. The drinks were as expected. Can't really say anything about their cocktails as we only ordered shots. Ended up not staying too long since the rooftop's furniture was wet due to previous rainfall and there wasn't anyone around to wipe down the tables/chairs. Would probably come back when the weather is better. But def a place to take some friends who want an up close view of the Empire State Building

They have happy hour Mon-Fri from 2pm to 5pm. The bartenders were not friendly at all and the pours were a joke. They had nice Christmas decorations but other than that not worth it.

On my first day in the city we walked down the street for lunch then decided to head home to 230 fifth for a little happy hour treasure. It was everything you would expect from a New York rooftop. Great views, good music, interesting crowd, and delicious drinks. I have zero regrets spending several hours up there. We even pushed back our dinner reservation just to enjoy the views a little longer. I'd definitely recommend stopping by!

About 3 stars.It's a fun and lively rooftop bar. They have great views of the city, but I think they are somewhat touristy. On the weekend they have a DJ playing some great music. And there is ample room for dancing. They have a brunch on the weekends. The burger is pretty good. They accept walk-ins, but I highly recommend making reservations, so you can get full service.
