Denise L. "My friend booked for us to have dinner here, and it did not disappoint! The decor and ambiance was incredible--intimate, homey, and so charming. We all loved our server Faheem, who did a really good job of explaining the menu and giving his suggestions for what things we could share as a group. His descriptions of some of the unique dishes were very spot on, and we all were so happy, full, and satisfied! The seafood platter is a sampling of all their popular seafood dishes, and very well worth getting as a kind of appetizer if you're in a group of 3 or more! Arancini was another highlight appetizer, and the mafalde pasta with sea urchin was an absolute delight! Their handmade pastas are delicious. Loved the concept of having a restaurant that focuses more on seafood and friendly for folks who may have lactose intolerance. We also went next door to the restaurant's gelateria for dessert, and their flavors were incredible. The pistachio, hazelnut, and dairy-free dark chocolate were *chef's kiss*! This is a lovely addition to the area and a place I'll definitely go back to again and again."

Bill S. "When I'm in Brooklyn, I like to stick to my goto spots. I live on Long Island and if I want a warm roast beef sammy? Forgetaboutit. They'd look at me like I had two heads. I've never been to John's deli, lemme see what the hubbub is all about. Walking in, I'm a man on mission. If there is one thing that irks me, someone in front of me and not being prepared on the sandwich offerings. It's like being in an ice cream shop and the person in front of me wants to try every flavor. They're licking the spoon and commenting, Hmm the vanilla notes are very pronounced. Me? I have cash in hand and read the entire menu. I walk in and I'm surprised by the size of the deli. It's a small powerhouse with a few tables. The menu board is to the left on the wall, no one is in front of me and I ask for the Johnny Roastbeef. Roll or Hero I'm asked. I wasn't prepped for that choice so I said on a roll please. The roll was freshly baked but it was a scooby snack, I shoulda went for the the hero. The Johnny Roastbeef is freshly sliced roast beef with sautéed onions, mozzarella and gravy on a freshly baked roll. Look at my picture, the sandwich guy was an artist with the gravy! One bite and it was a slam dunk. There is something about warm roast beef and gravy, to have it on a handheld sammy is epic. John's deli, I'm glad we met. First time here and I had a great sandwich. I can't wait to return."

Cindy Z. "Nice, casual Mexican spot in the neighborhood. I always thought this spot was too pricey, but was quite surprised by how good the food was. We started off with a Classic Margarita ($15) and Brooklyn Lager ($8). The Margarita was a bit too strong for me, but it came in a cool skull glass cup. I also wish that it wasn't an extra $2 charge for flavor and spice, which seems unfair. For food, we weren't too hungry and got one dish to share. We ordered the Chopped Cheese Wrap ($20), which was essentially a restaurant version of a Crunchwrap supreme. I love crunchwraps and I love chopped cheese, so this combo was perfection. Plus, the crispy fries that it came with were crunchy and flavorful --some of my favorites honestly. Although pricey, the food is good."

Ruby C. "A Christmas party without a yule log is incomplete. Among the numerous yule log options in NYC, I chose Lady Wong's chestnut Bûche de Noël. Lady Wong is a patisserie celebrating Southeast Asian flavors. Their cakes are artfully blended with French techniques and aesthetics. I always appreciate the elegant design of their cakes. *Chestnut Bûche de Noël $69.88This yule log was a beautiful work of art. It looked elegant with the edible snowflake candies and velvety cream piping. Under the thick and creamy vanilla mousse, it revealed a delicate center of chestnut filling and earl grey compote. Underneath it was a crunchy chestnut biscuit. I wished the it had a higher ratio of chestnut cremeux, but overall the flavors were unique and harmonious altogether. Sadly this cake is no longer available, but make sure to keep an eye of their seasonal drops."

Alexandra M. "Solid sushi for the price point. I had omakase at the counter and enjoyed every piece (except the Uni which wasn't very fresh in my opinion). The chutoro, otoro, and salmon were my favorite. The sushi chef took about 15/20 minutes to get started but once he did the pacing was great. It's a little hard to find - if you don't enter directly from the subway then take the escalators down to the bottom level of the building. Also note that the bathroom is not in the restaurant but in the atrium (the security guard has to let you in). Go for a casual look and bring friends or coworkers for a low-pressure omakase experience! @alex.eats.365"

Johnny N. "A group of 6 of us came at noon and who knew American Bar is a VIBE for lunch. Ambiance was almost better at lunch, I don't know what it was. I ordered the espresso martini as I know they're GAS here, but immediately regretted it when I tasted someone else's breakfast martini. The fusion of Tito's, Orange Marmalade, and lemon had me feeling like I was sitting on the beach in the South of Italy under a striped umbrella just enjoying my existence. Not Positano though, it gets too crowded. We started with pigs in a blanket and they were straight heat, as they almost always are. They are undebatably one of the most underrated appetizers in the game. Pigs in a blanket gotta be 6th man of the year...The 3 of you that consistently read my reviews know that I'm on a quest to find the best steak frites in the city, so when I seen it on the menu I had to pull the trigger. The 8oz hanger steak came with maitre'd butter and some well done thin fries. Not steak sauce on top thank GOD. When a steak comes with steak sauce, one can't help but wonder what they are hiding. What you scared of? Let that steak be eaten for what it is. The steak came medium rare and was cooked PERFECTLY. Fries were good to but to be honest I am a sucker for some thick cut fries or shoestring fries. One extreme or the other... that's personal preference though. I mean everything kind of a personal preference ahahha. We got the check and headed to the Spaniard as one does after a meal in the West Village. All in all, I have it ranked 3rd on my NYC steak frites ranking behind Virginia's and Pastis. I've only tried like 8 though ahahaha they be expensive.IG @jnov_Tiktok @jnov_reviews"

Jeannie T. "Worthy of my 1000th review, a stunning Deco vibe steakhouse upon entering. First thing you'll notice besides the energy is the lightness of the colors of the place. It's pastel seating makes it warm and vibrant. Great for business meetings, social gatherings or a date. Totally a vibe.First thing I noticed once seated, was the awesome Martini bar cart. The menu showcases a few pre-designed drinks or you can customize your own classic with perhaps a twist or a shake. The idea is to watch the Sommelier at work. Then there's the prime rib entree, also served table side -- wheeled over on a cart! It's quite a presentation...get that camera ready. The dome shaped lid unveils a beautiful prime rib roast, just waiting to be sliced. The server knows just how to plate it, some au jus is drizzled on and then served. The prime rib was perfect. Just the right amount of fat on the edges, prepared medium rare. It was a beauty. (Comes with a side of super creamy mashed potatoes and an even creamier whipped horseradish). That was heavenly as well.Other must try items, for starters, the balloon sesame lavash. It was very hot to the touch (be careful when ready to pull it apart to eat). It was like a thin flatbread but presented in this balloon shape. A hint of olive oil flavor paired with the sesame seeds and the carrot tahini spread - it was divine. Another appetizer I had was the Hokkaido scallop. I could never resist the raw bar if scallops are on the menu. Presented with daikon, chive oil, serrano chili and yuzu. Chef's Kiss. It was a beautifully balanced dish both in texture and flavor. My friend had the barbequed prawns for his appetizer. Goodness, the size of the plate and the prawns! It looked like a full entree. They were served over grits, New Orleans style. I couldn't try it due to my shrimp allergy but I can tell it did not disappoint. My friend thoroughly enjoyed his meal and he normally doesn't order any seafood that he needs to "work" with so minus removing the prawns head, it was worth the work. It was quite the sizeable appetizer and delicious I'm told. Another entree we must mention, the Iberico pork chop. I mean, what's there to say besides the name. It was a must try just because. Served with ginger cabbage and mushrooms, house bacon and a smoke pork sauce. What's not to love? The pork and mushrooms were excellent (I asked to try some). So juicy and so tender. My dining companion was celebrating his birthday so you know we had to order some dessert. Truth be told we were both quite content with our meals and our stomachs were at capacity. Between the food, before dinner cocktails, and wine throughout - I couldn't really eat another bite. In the spirit of his birthday, we chose something we could share. The ricotta beignets were delightful. Very light and airy with lemon curd. Surprisingly (and thankfully) they were not coated with powdered sugar. The cinnamon and vanilla sugar worked better as a topping. To our surprise, our server presented my friend with a complimentary slice of cake as well when she brought our dessert. Candle and all. It was nicely plated too. I believe the cake was the cloud cake (which is a strawberry layer cake). That was such a pleasant surprise - so sweet of the server to do that. She must've seen or heard me present him with the Birthday card and gift. Fun fact, if you order the bananas foster dessert, that is served on a cart as well! It is flambeed tableside too.The overall dining experience Monterey provides makes this place so welcoming. It's so lively and fun. Did I mention great for socializing? Even if you're not looking to dine here, drinks at the bar is reason enough to pay a visit. The bar counter and seating area is a whole scene by itself. There's pop music playing overhead throughout the restaurant , I think it sets the mood for a great night on the town. I highly recommend and look forward to returning."

I made a reservation for two people on a Saturday night, but the restaurant wasn't too busy.Ambiance: gorgeous! Truly a Parisian getaway - lush red velvet chairs, crystal chandeliers, servers dressed in black and white with suspenders and bow ties. There's bar seating and then I believe there are two sections - one for hotel guests and one for non-hotel guests. This place is perfect for a special occasion, date night, or if you're me and just want to dress up and eat good food. Service: excellent! Friendly servers and very attentive. Food: everything we ordered was seasoned perfectly and I would order again in a heart beat. We split everything amongst two people:-Caesar Salad: nothing crazy here, but it's everything a caesar salad should be. -Escargot: it comes without the shells. I'm used to very buttery escargot and this was not, so it didn't feel heavy or oily. I enjoyed!-Fouquets Onion Soup: quite a large serving. Everything that onion soup should be. Perfectly crispy cheese and salty, but not overpowering. -Nodi Marini Pasta w/ Black Truffle: sooo good. Cheesy and creamy but didn't feel too heavy. The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente and there was actually a generous amount of black truffle. -Beef Tenderloin: very good. The sauce and seasoning salt are essential. -Crepes Suzette: they flambéed table side which is really fun! Comes with two. Has a nice orangey flavor from the Grand Marnier. -Fouquets Chocolate Cake: amazing. I was expecting a slice of regular cake but it has different layers - some of cake, some of mousse, some of a gelatin thing. It's actually really light and not too rich. They also have a robust menu of mocktails - just ask for it. I got something with matcha and coconut milk that was delicious. They also go around with a trolley with fresh desserts, which is fun."

Hospitality for customer service is very attentive upon entering for a greeting and directions leading to the rear room and as menus are abundantly provided for review. The fries, which are greasy and delicious, appear to be homemade and are marketed as such. The hot dog is $4.50, and, no, it doesn't cost less if you order it without a bun, so don't even ask, but it does come with a nice helping of sauerkraut. Six mozzarella sticks with an orangish tomato sauce we're priced at $8.95, if I recall correctly. There are no fountain drinks, just bottled soda and the like.
