I do yoga 2-3 times a week so when I was planning on my trip to the French Quarter, I looked into which yoga studios were nearby. I didn't find any TOO close, so I was super excited to see a sign advertising yoga at the Cabildo - a 1 minute walk from my hotel! The class was from 7:30-8:30am, which is way before the museum opens at 10am. The class was $12, which is way cheaper than what I am used to paying in NY so I was happy about that. The class itself was decent - I understand that it is an all levels class, and as an avid yogi I felt it wasn't too challenging, but other than that I enjoyed the class. I think if she had asked us visitors what our yoga experience was, she may have realized that we were pretty advanced and adjusted the level of difficulty a bit (in looking around I saw some others modifying the poses to make them more challenging). I would have liked a little music, but that's my personal preference. Nina was friendly and provided mats, blocks, and blankets for us visiting guests. If I were staying longer in town, I'd attend again. She also gave me a free ticket to the Cabildo if I decided to return to see the museum itself, which was really nice. The space is beautiful and it's definitely a piece of history to experience while in NOLA.

Yoga at the Cabildo was a beautiful kick off to my Sunday morning. The instructor was informative and held a humorous tone the entire class. I consider myself intermediate, my sister a beginner and we both found comfort and challenge in the class. It is not always easy to find activities in this city that surround something other than drinking or tourists. Although the Cabildo is located close to Bourbon St, it is easy to find tranquillity in the sun soaked room. The windows stretch from floor to ceiling and are covered with billowing white curtains. I went during a construction phase so I could only imagine the beauty the place holds now.Truly a unique experience. This is the building the Louisiana Purchase was signed in for goodness sake! I certainly recommend it and will return.

The thought of taking a yoga class in a museum before the museum opened to the public is what got me to attend. Nina is an awesome teacher and her class is great for all levels. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Definitely attend if you're in the area.

I'm a NOLA resident, and I thought this was a unique and fun experience. I love finding activities that are more geared for tourists and then getting in on the action. Yoga at the Cabildo is a perfect example.I signed up online. Very easy. Then on Saturday, I made my way to the French Quarter for some exercise. French Quarter and exercise...something doesn't sound right about that. But that's what happened.Yoga is on the 2nd floor of the Cabildo in a room overlooking Jackson Square. It's at 8:30 am and we had lots of sunlight beaming in through some big window planes. It was a beautiful room to practice in. The yoga was basic with only a few prompts to cut loose. It's yoga. There is always room to do what you want. I followed along with the class and did not break a sweat. For me, it was less about yoga and all about the ambiance. We did our standing poses facing the windows and I enjoyed watching all the runners from the Crescent City Classic passing on Decatur.Added bonus. You get a ticket to the museum. Available for use anytime. I will definitely repeat.

Abundant natural light, beautiful big windows overlooking Jackson square, warm wood floor, historic space, and even a graceful trumpet outside unintentionally serenading us - what more can you ask for in a yoga space? When we came back later in the day (make sure to grab a ticket to the museum since it's complimentary from the class), they were setting up for a wedding, which made perfect sense for the space.Providing mats was key since we and most were from out of town, and there were plenty available even after a dozen or so joined, and also enough blocks and mats for this mid-size class. The class is definitely gentle yoga - you're not going to break a sweat. I would have liked more of a workout but after skipping the gym while on vacation some deep stretching was definitely needed and appreciated.Go for the experience (you can buy tix in advance online or in person with cash) - you won't regret this blissful retreat hidden in the craziness of the French Quarter.

I was in town for a conference and looking for somewhere to do yoga - other than my hotel room. I stumbled across Yoga at the Cabildo online and am so glad I did. Absolutely love the location and the class. The instructor comes prepared with extra yoga mats and props for anyone who needs to borrow some. I highly recommend making a point to go to a class if you can.

What a great way to start a Saturday morning. Its beautiful space and Nina, was the real deal. She was very mindful of the different levels of all of us and very precise in her instruction. I purchased a really cool T-shirt and you can't beat the price.

After walking the streets of NOLA for several days I needed a good yoga class. I signed up for a Saturday morning and I wish I could remember the instructor's name. She was fabulous! She gave great cues, and took us through a lovely, gentle but invigorating Hatha class. The space was great, on the second floor, with the windows looking out over Jackson Square and natural sunlight peeking through. I loved this class so much and can't wait to try it again next time I'm visiting NOLA.

I loved getting to take a class at the cabildo. For a Saturday morning the class was pretty full. I would recommend getting there 5min early or there might be no mats left. The teacher was great. It was a great class for beginners or intermediate. The museum isn't open to the public so you have the upstairs all to yourselves.

I loved the idea of yoga in a museum. The security at the Cabildo and the instructor were all very nice. They know most people are travelers so she had everything - mats, blocks, and straps. We did more of a yin class with a few balance poses and twists. She also teaches a Saturday class that is more of vinyasa flow. The instructor was humorous. Class is meant more for a beginner-intermediate, but it's what you make of it.
