I went here today looking for a place for my mother. As soon as the woman realized the apartment wasn't for me but my mother, she had no availabilities. When I inquired about co-signing for my mom, she shut me down faster than I could ask the question. My mother is elderly and receives retirement. Extremely rude place. Don't go here unless you want to treated poorly.

I moved to New Orleans (actually Kenner) from Wyoming, spending most of my life as a Yankee. I went into this move with an open mind: new culture, new atmosphere, etc. and have been thoroughly pleased thus far. My girlfriend and I had to take care of all the apartment rental paper work over the phone and via fax (Tonti Management - Windsong's property management- doesn't have/use email.) and the process was fairly painless. The two ladies working with us were very helpful and friendly. Making sure we had all the paperwork taken care of prior, we showed up on move in day needing only to sign a few more things before getting the keys. This was our first time seeing the apartment and overall we were pleased. We requested top floor (3rd floor) to take advantage of the vaulted ceilings and view of the pool (there are 5 total pools on the property). The only thing I was really hoping for was more updated/modern kitchen appliances and bathroom, other than that I'm really pleased with the property. Several experiences we've had so far: -Found out the previous tenant had "slept walked" out the window, falling three flights.-A portion of the units had caught on fire due to an A/C unit failing. (These apartments are currently being renovated).- Our A/C didn't work for the first 5 days - It took them 3 days before they could fix it (Sat, Sun, Mon). Not complaining about how long it took just a bummer that it wasn't working when we moved in.-This is apparently a common thing down south but we have found several very living Cockroaches skirring about the apartment - YUCK.If you decide moving in before 6/1/2013 get a hold of me, put me down as a reference/referral. I think we both get a discount on rent :)

This Review is for Aiden - a wonderful maintenance man. He has handled all of my maintenance issues and does a great job. He is friendly, kind, efficient, and knows what he is doing. Today, 12/13 he fixed the toilet perfectly.

Save yourself the time the patience and more importantly your money. DO NOT rent from this place.I have been living here for only 8 months. Moved here in a rush out of necessity due to needing a bigger apartment quick.I regret moving here and i will most definitely not be renewing my lease. These people will nickel and dime you for everything. Here are a few examples;1 - The mail boxes are placed in the pool areas, BUT the pools are gated so if you want access, you have to buy the key to access the pool area and mail boxes for $252 - This is the one that really got to me. in order to park your vehicle within the property you have to have a sticker saying you're a resident, standard and normal procedure. All good there. However, when i bought a new vehicle they told me i had to buy a visitors pass $25 because they couldnt give me a resident sticker because my new car did not have plates yet since, you know, IS NEW. I asked the lady her name is Carmen to make sense of that to me and she just said "you agreed to it by signing the lease" well played. The problem is NOWHERE in the lease states any of it. it only says that they cant give the resident sticker to vehicles with the dealer plates only to vehicles with the real plate from the DMV.So, I had to buy this visitor pass for $25, I have to park on the visitors designated area instead of my spot as a resident infront of my building or else risk having the vehicle towed at my expense.DO NOT RENT from these guys. Highly recommend anyone looking to rent to check First Lake. I lived in their properties for 5 years prior to moving to this place and never had any issues with them.

If you are not white, beware! This place will rob your dry and make you feel inadequate! I lived here 10 years ago and still have flashbacks of how terrible my experience was! Once you try to move out , they will slap fees out of nowhere! They tried to evict us when we were trying to break our lease! I had to pay $2,000 so this wouldn't affect my credit. Luckily, I am a home owner now and make more money and if I had the time I would try to get them out of business. It is absolutely disgusting how they treat people. One thing I can say is, it was a life lesson. I was only 21 while rented here and am 33 now. I learned a lot! Also, the appliances are outdated. Buy a house! Do not rent here!

I have lived here approximately 10 years. It's very quiet in my apartment area, and I told them that's what I needed when I moved here and I didn't need any children about me running around and playing on the floor. Not that I don't like kids but...Someone else wrote that the kitchen needed updating. I agree. I think the bathroom does as well, but for the money, you get a lot of space indoors and outdoors. If you are a walker, you can just walk out the door and start walking all around the property because it covers a large area. The manager of the office and of the maintenance department are both very helpful women, and they know who you are. The maintenance man are great they always help me above and beyond. They are remodeling the outside walls and rooftops of the complex. It's looking very good. There's a lot of work involved, and the workmen are very pleasant people. And here's the final thing, they don't go out very much on your rent each year, and as of last year you can sign a 15 month lease, and your rent ends up being a little cheaper than if you had signed a year lease or less.

The women in the office were incredibly rude and condescending. They were loudly shaming someone in the office for how much money they made and disclosing exact figures and their personal information. Unkind and unprofessional. We walked out before even seeing an apartment. There are so many apartments in the area that are nicer, similar in price, and have more personable staff. Don't waste your time!

Horrible and spineless management change the rules at the flip of a coin, maintenance is only OK if you dont mind 2 or 3 days response times, apartments are old but comfortable and it could be a good place if not for the poor management, the first year we lived on a second floor and we had to switch apartments because there was a senior lady in the first floor below us who kept bothering us by knocking in our door and ambushing us when we left for because she said that we kept messing up her cable signal, and she was sick of the smell of pot (never smoked however the kids upstairs do smoke at the balcony), explained every time that we had absolutely no control over those things but it was beyond the lady understanding so I reported her to apt manager and got promises of someone will speak to her, then a daughter of the lady approached me with the same speech of the cable, pot, added noise to the complaint and threatened with calling the police, I told her it would be me who would call the police the next time her or her mother approached me or my wife harassing us. I again reported them to the management office who said could do nothing, I told the manager I would get the police involved right now and initiate legal action the next time our neighbors from hell approached us and manager condescendingly suggested we moved to another apartment at the complex, pay the new rent fee which was about $50 more, this should have been our queue to leave, but we were naive enough to accept and change to another apartment in Windsong, fast forward 2 years, lady who lived below us got kicked out due to fight with the same manager, a lot of issues, including AC not cooling, starting the saga of visits from maintenance barging in with their key at all times, fridge, dishwasher and shower replaced due to not working, we decided to move out at time of renewing contract and told the office employee receiving the application to move out that we like it here but we dont like management, 3 days later find a letter from management asking us to get rid of a carbon barbecue pit which has been with us since before we got here 3 years ago and at the same spot since autumn last year, coincidence they just noticed or retaliation because I complained? We are hispanics, work in the customer service industry my entire life, I can tell when someone is being discriminated against and treated unfairly due to the prejudices, if you are part of a minority think twice about moving to Windsong.
