I used to do yoga here in 2014-2015 and stopped because I moved a little further from the studio. I recently started going back for their prenatal yoga classes. They are the only yoga studio in the GNO area I could find that still offers prenatal yoga. I was quickly reminded what a warm and welcoming studio Wild Lotus is. The class is varied every week, and really helps me stretch and stay in shape as I prepare to give birth! It's nice to be in a class with other expecting mamas. My only suggestion would be to offer perhaps a weekday evening class as well! Often my birthing/childcare classes are on Saturday mornings so I do have to alternate weeks. I don't know if Wild Lotus ever offered the cold aromatherapy wash clothes at the end of class for the face. I remember going to a prenatal class with a friend 10 years ago elsewhere, and that was one of my favorite parts; I would not hate if Wild Lotus offered that! :)

This yoga studio was within walking distance to our AirBnB.The staff was super helpful and the space is clean and airy. They have more of a spiritual and gentle flow vibe, which is really nice to slow down with.I will definitely be back!

Funny how times change....this used to be my drycleaner in the early 90s. But it's been a yoga studio for over a decade... I've practiced yoga off and on for awhile but I can never remember what anything is called. I've decided this is a mental block from having choreography screamed at me in dance class as a child. I'm trying to get better. So I know I do better when things are explained to me.I've been taking a series of intro to yoga (4 weeks at a time) this year and it's really helping my stress levels and my breathing... why do I hold my breath so often? I've had a series of instructors as I've taken these classes and I find their different approaches helpful and how they focus on different things.I expect some hippieness and as I really need to work on my breathing that's actually good for me. The facility is great, always clean. The staff is always friendly. And it's 5 minutes (by car) from my house.

Before entering this studio I had partaken in only two different yoga classes- both leaving me a little bitter about the whole hype. A friend dragged me to a Sunday evening class which emphasized meditation. Instead of my anticipated disappointment the class left me feeling rejuvenated and hungry for more.I decided to try the 30 days for $30 because I figured I'd break even after attending three classes. I began with the morning classes, as they focused on flow and easy/medium level experience. I was sore after the first couple classes but felt just as mentally satisfied as the first. I continued to go testing the styles of all the instructors and found each contributed a unique rhythm to the studio. They all were incredibly insightful and were able to individually help each one of their students in a gentle and encouraging manner. My favorite was certainly align&shine, the music and flow energized my morning which spilled into the remainder of my day. I am now an avid practitioner of yoga and have found an entirely new respect for the importance of self awareness and head space- thank you to WLY!

I regularly practice at Wild Lotus Downtown, as it's all but practically in my backyard. I finally got to check out their glorious Uptown location recently and I'm glad I got out of my comfort zone to do so. I'm a current monthly subscriber, so that means you get to take unlimited classes at both locations for the low price of $130. Sweet deal, right? Check out the schedule and you're bound to find something that fits your busy lifestyle. This studio is just as beautiful as the one Downtown and has a similar set up of two rooms in which to take classes. Great-smelling, too (incense doesn't burn during class in case that bothers you. It doesn't bother me, but I appreciate that they are understanding of everyone's varying preferences and needs). I also appreciate that the room temperature always seems just right at Wild Lotus Downtown and that's the case at their Uptown studio as well. Just when you start to notice the sweat dripping off your forehead, the a/c comes on for a little while and then goes off so you're not freezing. I really cannot stand hot yoga. Damn, if I wanted that, I'd just practice outside on any New Orleans summer day (actually, that sounds much more agreeable to me than a stifling room without any fresh air). I also want to reiterate my appreciation for the teachers of Wild Lotus (you can see specifics in my reviews of Downtown). All of them are fantastic. Most are all-levels (with the exception of spicy flow, but don't let the description scare you off, unless you're a true beginner needing the basics!) and truly inspirational. If you don't leave transformed, you'll at the very least leave feeling 10X better than when you walked in (at least I do! It's been a stressful two weeks for me and Wild Lotus is my refuge). Can't wait to come back up here to take advantage of the Tri Yoga classes. That's a style very close to Kundalini, which I practiced for years, but with the added benefit of flow. There's a teacher here who specializes in that style and once subbed out a class Downtown. Now, I'm determined to cross Canal on a more regular basis.Wild Lotus, I cannot express my gratitude enough.

Ok, let me start out by saying, if you are a regular yogi this place might be your jam. It might be the best yoga studio on the planet! I can only comment on my experience as a novice yogi who is more in it for the workout aspect than the calming meditation portion. My boyfriend and I went to Wild Lotus a while ago for a drop in class in the evening. The studio is lovely and nicely appointed with all the props you could possibly need. We signed in, paid, and were told to talk to the instructor about me being a newbie. (Note: I have done about 10 yoga classes in my life). My counterpart is a bit more experienced. We set up in the front row in the very large room. It got pretty full that evening, but there was definitely enough space to accommodate everyone. The first 20 minutes of the class were spent "seeing colors" and chakras. I was immediately turned off. I honestly went into this class looking forward to the stretching and working out, but what I saw as a wasted 20 minutes just made me frustrated. Once we finally got into the movement portion of the class, it was slow. I was so frustrated I wound up walking out of the class and sitting outside to wait until the class was over. Because it was the last class of the night, there was no receptionist to speak with, and the teacher didn't approach me after class to discuss why I left. All in all, I'm not angry about it, it was just a lesson learned for me that it is probably a good idea to find out the "style" of yoga practiced before attending a class. Again, if you are a hardcore yogi and/or are looking for the experience described above, I have no doubt that you will love Wild Lotus. The teachers seem very professional, and the studio is run well. However, if you're looking for more of a fast faced workout without seeing colors, I suggest looking elsewhere.

Was in town visiting and chose this class based on the class description which included mindful movement and meditation. Farrah was awesome. I'm so happy I showed up. It was a very peaceful and calm experience. It's hard to find classes these days that are truly the heart of yoga . So thankful this studio has such a spiritual vibe. This is why yoga was created. Thank you I will be back!

I've never studied at another studio, but I have to say I can't imagine it can get better than this. Wild Lotus is an incredible yoga studio: beautiful, relaxing and peaceful on the inside, difficult to park by outside, with understanding and patient instructors. As a beginner, I've felt welcomed at every class, both by students and teachers (I've taken classes with Amy, Sean, Bill, Mike, and Laura thus far). Classes are offered at varying times throwout every single day, at all levels. Instructors are encouraging to everyone to practice at their own level, so even a newbie like myself, attending a Medium-Spicy class, is able to get what I need out of it. Workshops are held every weekend, by visiting yogis as well as NOLA instructors and students, that are almost always completely packed. It's a good way to meet people in the community. There are even classes for children. The pricing is very reasonable. It's $14 for a walk-in class, with discounted Community classes on Mondays and Saturday ($7). They have student discounts for their 10-class cards, as well as a special for people who are new to the studio--$108 for the 2-months unlimited classes. Seriously, amazing. They sell mats, some clothing, and locally-made jewelry.

Being new to New Orleans I had to search around and try all the different yoga studios. Having done that, I can say that Wild Lotus is by far my favorite. After my first class I felt at home, peaceful, centered, and ready to walk out into my new city and tackle some challenges. This studio offers many classes throughout every day. The classes are varied at all levels and some are for specific populations, ex tweens. I really really enjoy that class often starts with a reading, meditation, has a theme, and they never forget the Om! :) Finally, the studio is beautiful and always clean. There is a front section with mats, necklaces, books, etc for purchasing. They offer mats but you should bring your own incase the studio is packed and they run out.

I had been going to Wild Lotus Yoga off and on for twenty years. This past year I have been full-time caregiver to my aunt, who is 96 years old. She cannot be left alone for long periods, for obvious reasons. Last week my wife and I went to have a relaxing yoga hour at Wild Lotus, and we brought my aunt with us. She sat quietly in a corner until the class was over. Yesterday, 30 minutes before class was scheduled to begin Wild Lotus called my wife to tell her that "No visitors are permitted." Since we cannot really leave my aunt on the sidewalk for an hour, we asked WL to cheerfully refund our money. In spite of their claim to be so welcoming and inclusive, they cannot find any way for us to do yoga and still keep our aunt safe. She was not disruptive in any way, but they made clear she is not welcome. Needless to say, we will never go back there. It is sad when people so egregiously fail to live up to the ideals they profess. For shame!
