Here's the problem. You are either a dive bar or a high end craft cocktail bar. You can't have a cool sign like WHARTONs and come off like you've redone the previous dive bar into a high end one and THEN tell customers "well we started to go in that direction but kinda didn't". Like the other reviewer mentioned, hand crafted cocktails generally are out on drink menus for you to see what specialty type drinks they are offering. Not the case here. Last thing you want on a night out on the town, go into a bar where you're expecting high end, expensive spirits and specialty crafted cocktails, only to see Jose Cuervo and Jim BeamMake no mistake, the only thing that has changed in this bar is the sign. Expensive sign, cheap drinks and place.

If you like your dive bars divey, this is the place for you. We recently visited to attend the adult prom, "A Night You'll Never Remember," and had a great time. We decided to meet an old friend here for drinks and catch up. Rhonda was serving up the drinks cold and fast and always with a lovely, lovely smile. And, if you weren't careful, with a quick wit, to boot! Oh man, I love a sassy bartender! We'll definitely be back.

My first time in was 10/5/19. Ordered two drinks, paid $12 cash after waiting about 10 minutes to be acknowledged, with about 6 people total in the bar. No biggie. Ordered another round of same drinks (double skyy and soda, Jucifer beer), and gave her my card to open a tab. Bar was dead all night, we didn't mind. Ordered another round, then one mixed drink which she split into two cups for some reason. Asked to close tab. Signed for it, put blue Chase card in my wallet and we left. Next day I get a call from a girl stating she has my card and I have hers, that they gave me hers when I closed the tab. What?!? So I leave my plans to go meet her and switch cards. She used a PI to find me. So she went to close her tab and instead of them voiding both bill, they charge mine $43 dollars then GAVE HER MY DEBIT CARD! Why in the world would they think that is ok??? Then to charge me $43? I called the bar for two days straight and voicemail is full and nobody answers the phone during business hours. For all of the trouble and inconvenience that was caused, the least the bar could have done was not charge the cards, especially when it's not myBill. Giving my card to a stranger is 100% the wrong thing to do when you screw up as a bartender. I bartenders 19 years and we would have never handled it that way. I will never be back to Wharton's.

Great local bar with lots of history. Live music every weekend from amazing local bands and some new and upcoming ones as well! Drinks are reasonably priced and the bar staff is very friendly. Definitely the place to go for a night out on the town with some friends!

After having two different people call ahead of time to confirm that the age to just get in was 18 and being told both times that 18 year olds were allowed in some of the group I went with for a one of our birthdays were bounced even though 1. Nobody was checking IDs at the front door 2. There was no signage saying you had to be 21 and 3. There was no open gambling. Louisiana law allows 18 years olds to be in bars )as long as there's no open gambling) just not consume alcohol and even that (front my understanding) is allowed under Louisiana law as long as it's bought and provides by a legal guardian but we were even trying to get drinks we just wanted to be in the building Every business has the right to refuse service and entry and had we not been told it was allowed either time we called and not wasted an hour long trip to have our night ruined it wouldn't have been a problem because rules are rules and I can respect a way any individual chooses to run their own business but the way everything happened was infuriating

Great place to hear local original music. Wish they still had open mic nights. Staff is very friendly, I go there at least once a month because of the music. They need to do a better job at posting updated music calendar.

This is not a cocktail bar at all. After paying 5.00 to enter the bar, I asked the bartender if there was a cocktail list or menu. He said no and also had no recommendations on what to order. I ordered a cucumber martini and my boyfriend a moscow mule. He made the martini with vodka and muddled cucumber nothing else and served the mule in a plastic cup. Less than impressed.

This place is awful. I can't believe it's still open. It was a Saturday night with about 15 people there, 3 "bartenders", and a guy charging people to get in the shithole. Couldn't get a single bartenders attention for over 15 mins. One bartender finally came over and tells us "I don't work this side of the bar." WHAT THE F*CK? Finally the chick bartender got to us and handed us drinks in plastic cups. Nothing crafty about it.

My husband and i received a phone call around 2:45-3am on a Thursday and woke our whole family up after calling multiple times. On the other end of the line was a rude employee saying that my husband needed to get out of bed right now and come pay his brothers tab. Funny thing is, my husband doesn't have a brother and we have no idea who this person is. We are thinking that the employee found my husband on Facebook just because we have the same last name as the guy that didn't pay his tab. The next morning, i call during business hours and am met with another rude employee that says "well I don't know what you want me to do but say sorry." I told him to have the manager call me which never happened. Then today, my husband gets a message on Facebook from someone calling him a stupid "c**t" and stupid "a**" for not paying his brothers tab and that the police know who he is and is out looking for him. The harassment has got to stop NOW!!!! This is absolutely ridiculous.
