I stayed in the Warehouse District on two separate occasions while visiting New Orleans: to run the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon New Orleans which just happened to have its starting line within the district, and to celebrate my birthday. On both occasions I picked out hotels within the district because of what attractions are within and nearby. The Warehouse District has a very trendy and artsy vibe. I absolutely adored how these warehouses are being utilized in the form of galleries, boutiques, studios, hotels, innovative restaurants, and coffee shops. After the 1984 World's Fair, the neighborhood was revitalized and transformed into what it is now. The city of New Orleans has certainly set a standard that other cities should follow rather than letting old warehouses go unused in my opinion. There are plentiful sights, activities, restaurants, and shopping centers within the district, or within a radius of it. Some that I took note of and experienced were Fulton Street, Julia Street, The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk, The New Orleans Ernest N Morial Convention Center, Mississippi River Heritage Park, the World War II Museum, Harrah's, Mercedes-Benz Superdome, Smoothie King Center, and Lafayette Square. And if you wish to visit the crown jewel of the city known as French Quarter, the Warehouse District sits just south of it within walking distance.~Blessings~ Thomas G

The Warehouse District reminds me of New York's SOHO which I admire. Sure, the nay sayers may complain that there is too much gentrifications going on. But frankly, would you rather it remain dilapidated and depressed? Since Ace Hotel has entered the picture, plenty of stellar business also followed suit like Cochon Butcher, Willa Jean and Rouses. At the time of writing this, Warehouse District has already re-invented itself. The place is posh but retained many qualities and characteristics of NOLA roots. If you like SOHO, New York, you will love the Warehouse District.

How can this be the first review of New Orleans' Warehouse District? This place is so cool! I love the charismatic old industrial buildings (lots of brick facades and in some sections, delightful cobblestone streets) and the historic atmosphere of the small, shady side streets. I highly recommend this area for photographers as I found it to be very scenic (makes for great photos)! The warehouse district has been revitalized as a slightly hipster "Arts District," with row after row of small, eclectic art galleries (most require no appointment; I was able to stop in on a whim and browse some groovy cutting edge local art pieces with zero pretension nor pressure to buy). Julia Street is home to the most galleries so be sure to walk down it if you are an art lover like me! Some of the city's most popular museums are in the Warehouse District too: the World War II Museum, the Civil War Museum, the Children's Museum and my favorite: the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. If you're a museum lover who is visiting NOLA, you'll most likely find yourself in this part of town at some point during your trip. There are a lot of cool restaurants in this district too. Just Yelp some of the best noshing spots in the vicinity.

A lovely part of New Orleans. It's nice to see how they reinvented a part of town to suit its modern needs.

Came back to this section twice. Lovely place for a stroll. Surprisingly not a lot of people walking it at the time I was there- considering its proximity to the museums.
