Voodoo Tavern & Poboys

Needing to kill a little time, we decided to give Voodoo Tavern a shot. You could easily walk right past it, but that would be a mistake. Marie greeted us very warmly, gave us a few minutes to look over the menu and answered any questions that we had. We decided on a bowl of crawfish étouffée & the debris fries. The étouffée was everything you want in an étouffée. The right color, creamy & full of flavors. The debris fries. Holy moly, Batman! What a beautiful surprise they ended up being. The roast beef debris was fantastic. The fries were crispy. 10/10 recommend. Don't forget about the drinks. While you might not feel your getting enough liquor in your drink at other establishments, Voodoo didn't hold by. I believe I had the strawberry lemonade in the punch glass. It was delicious! Voodoo is a little far from the normal hustle and bustle but well worth the stop if you're in the area.

Went here for some poboys while visiting from out of town and was not impressed with anything here other than their drinks. I never had a poboy before so i really had no expectations but i couldn't even eat what i was served. The beef and shrimp were cold which was very unappetizing. It was also pretty pricey i paid over $30 for a sandwich and regular fries and a drink. Between all of my friends we tried all their mixed drinks which were pretty good. Overall would not eat here again. There are plenty of better places in new orleans to eat at should've known this when we were the only people eating there.

My group booked a night cemetery tour and this was the meeting place. We arrived with plenty of time to spare, and since the tour is BYOB, our party decided to get a couple of dranks to bring and indulge in during the tour. It's brilliant, this kind of arrangement with the tour company: let them use your spot as a meeting place for guaranteed paying customers and make it easy for them to pick everyone up all in one place! And the reason for the 4 stars is that the service is way above par. Bartender was ready for the crowd that came through because there wasn't a lot of wait on anyone's drink orders. They even offered plastic cups for those who prefer it better than cans. (Unless it was already a cocktail...) If I was hungry, would have liked to have their grub. We were dropped off here post-tour and got more drinks to go. It was crowded, most likely because of the next tour group. Given the chance, would love to come back and just chill with drinks and apps. Good first run!

We stopped here to try the Dirty Po-Boy. This sandwich is huge and so easily shareable. We ordered it dressed: tomato, lettuce, pickles and mayo. You can omit any one of these ingredients. Some restaurants charge extra for this; this one did not.The larger size is approx. 14-16 inches long. It is served already cut in two. It is fresh French bread, stuffed full with roast beef and fried shrimp, plus the "dressing". It was enjoyably messy to eat. Our mistake was that we ordered a side of French fries. These were totally unnecessary as the sandwich is very filling.I was not thrilled that all of the tables were hi-tops, but since we were the only guests during the time of our visit there, there was no problem with managing on the hi table and chairs.

This sandwich comes in 2 sizes. We shared the large version. Definitely a share dish! The sandwich is wonderful with fried shrimp, roast beef, Swiss cheese. Make it complete, New Orleans style, and have it dressed (that means lettuce, tomato and pickles and mayonnaise)The large version (with $18.99 only $3 more than regular one) is definitely a dish to share. Each half was about 6-7" long!!!We had some fries with it. They were okay, could gave been a bit crispier.

You could easily walk past this place if you weren't paying attention, but it's well worth stopping in. I got a dirty shrimp po boy which came with roast beef. It wasn't something I would've thought to order, but it was well worth it -- the shrimp and roast beef were surprisingly great combo. Cool, laid back bar vibes and the staff was super friendly.

This place was solid. It looks kinda low end but the fries and po boys were good. We got the Dirty Shrimp Po Boy ($19) which had fried shrimp and roast beef and it was delicious. We also got a side of fries ($4) which were crispy and well seasoned, although not a very large portion. The po boy was hearty so this was plenty for two people.

Great choice of food items and drink. Settled on a po boy that was a combo of shrimp and meat. Highly recommended! The loaded fries were a little salty for my taste though. Service was quick and friendly. A couple of tables available for indoor seating. Recommend stopping by here for a bite if in the area.

We were waiting for our night cemetery tour to begin and we had some time to spare. We sat down for a quick bite to eat, but we weren't expecting anything too special from this place as it was just a meeting point before our tour began. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the freshness and authenticity of this tasty New Orleans grub spot! The queso and chorizo fries were amazingly good. I also had my first ever fried shrimp Po Boy sandwich that was sooooo good! It definitely won't be my last! Make sure you get there early to get a table. It's a small place, so they fill up pretty quickly when everyone starts to arrive to check in for the tour.

Marie was amazing! She made a Long Island just the way it was supposed to be. The burger and debris fries were on point! Highly recommend!
