Vic's Kangaroo Cafe

We went here in search of late night food after getting into New Orleans after 10 PM, settling into our Warehouse District hotel after 10:30 PM, and walking up and down Tchoupitoulas but finding the humidity bearable at 11 PM.After walking into another bar that had just closed its kitchen for the night, they pointed us in the direction of Vic's. I think it must've been the only place in the area to grab a bite to eat at that hour. Though it claims to be an Australian-themed bar, there was nothing very Australian about it besides the flags plastered around the bar.It's divey. Clean, but pretty divey. If I had any doubts about that, the menu certainly reaffirmed it. You can take your pick between jambalaya, shepherd's pie, and pizza -- all frozen (our pizza certainly was) but reheated in the back. I nursed a Blue Moon at the bar as we waited for our cheese pizza. It was nothing special but hit the spot since I had been traveling for nearly 12 hours at that point.We came here for pizza. We left wondering if we should've gotten a pint of Australian beer to accompany our pizza instead. (Surely they must have at least one option on the menu to qualify as an "Australian-themed bar," right?)

Definitely a great place for late night pizza and delicious drinks. They don't have straws because they are apart of the ocean wildlife conservation movement (which is awesome because animals rule!) I come here a lot because the bartender are hard working people who have seen so many fun crazy times here and they always making sure everyone is having a great time. Their AC is one of the best on a hot day. Tell them Ruby sent you.

Dimly lit but clean, cold drinks, hot pizza and quick service. What more can you ask for?

A great place to grab a drink and a quick bite to eat. Came here off late night after it was one of the few places selling food late night. Pizza was a hit, drinks did snag if needed to do and service was solid. No real complaints. Kinda like a dive bar feel.

Best neighborhood bar in The Warehouse District of New Orleans. Period.Great staff; fun ambiance. I highly recommend Vic's.

Love this old bar. You might run into Harrison Ford or whoever famous star is in town. Love Tyler and Zac.h. Two of the best bartenders in the world.

A fun dive bar with good service. They are up front that their pizza is frozen, but they do what they can to season it up and cook it well. They even suggested alternate places if we wanted food options, but this was exactly what we were after for the hour. The drinks were well made and the prices were extremely affordable versus other places nearby. If they have any pie, it's also very good. The Aussie aspect of the place may be inauthentic and gimmicky, but my wife and I wish we had tried it earlier in our trip. Again, this is a dive bar, so it's 5 stars for what it is and I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Best dive bar experience we had in Nola. Friendly staff, killer jukebox, fun bar games, cool people. The pizza was everything we needed at 1am and more.

This bar just recently re-opened. It's the anomaly in CBD - a neighborhood bar frequented by locals in midst of the hotels and tourists that spill over from French Quarter. Definitely a laid back vibe - come here for beer and a plate of jambalaya!

Absolute horrible behavior from our bartender, passive aggressively forced us to tip him per drink and not after we closed out. There are countless dive bars in this neighborhood and the next. Drink there.
