Ft his is a family owned and operated butchery. These specialize in beef, pork, and lamb. Anita is the sweetest lady. I went into this establishment with the idea of buying a portion of a cow to stock up my freezer. With both grass or grain fed beef as an option this is where that idea brought me. I walked in unannounced and asked the lady behind the counter how to go about purchasing 1/2 of a cow and 1/2 of a pig, she proceeded to tell me she would match me with another customer who wanted 1/2 portions and that they would slaughter the appropriate animals in the next week. 2 weeks after that ( to give the meat time to hang) she would call me to either watch the butchering take place or I could tell her what cuts I wanted and pick it up when it was all processed. I chose to watch the staff cut up the cow and pig, to get a better idea of where the meat comes from. Verdun's meat market is the only establishment that allows you to witness the process of cutting your order. They serve a high quality product here and I highly recommend to all of my friends. You can buy a few pounds of ground beef, or get a rack of ribs. They are there to fulfill your needs! The only downfall I found was the hours of operation can be unpredictable and sometimes you have to wait awhile to get an order completed if you just show up without placing the order in advance !
